In the novel Wired for War by PW Singer, he discusses the challenges with bringing battery powered devices into operational theaters. Personally I think the LyteHorse should be equipped with a manual kick charger that recharges all the devices that go in the field. I would also add a servo motor to the steering for power assist and fully autonomous operations. If it could drag a stretcher by two handles and recharges itself, a ruggedized tablet and night vision batteries that would tick a lot of boxes for me. Well done Allen.

Great interview. Subscribed. Never heard of LyteHorse. Soon as I saw the video: I was SOLD. The founder made this an easy sale. He's the kind of guy you can trust.
I love how he knows markets, their attrition rates. Although fun to be an inventor, he does it with an eye for economic purpose and benefits. Often times inventors try to fit a square peg into a circular hole.

I’ve got a very good feeling about this product and company. I love its simplicity and the fact that they will outsource the frame but make the battery packs in house. I think they’ll be able to scale and get these into production sooner rather than later.
Economy of scale will be the test for sure. If they figure that out, then they will definitely create a solid niche market and dominate it. I can't wait to see what this market brings to the table through this decade!

One thing i would add is some type of shielding in the front of the lytehorse to protect the control/handlebar and maybe some wind/shrub/dirt/mud protection for the rider ? In the military and/or police versions that shielding could be some type of bullet resistant material, for instance the pull-up origami bullet shield i`ve seen online ?

Check out some of their competition that have been around for a long time now: EZRaider and Beast Electric, to name two. Someone needs to close the gap between what is a fair consumer-friendly price and the current $8,000-to-$9,000 (USD) price range. Nobody has a monopoly on this form factor. Until they get real, I'm going to wait for it to come out on DVD!
Extremely innovative and applicable idea. Certainly I would surmise that the original idea came from the ATV four wheeler sit down. And the idea modified from that into a similar vehicle "electrical powered" in a stand-up position.
Cool! My son & I recently slapped a homemade electric mountainboard to a wooden gokart frame, it reminds me of this.

I am an inventor in the UK I built exactly the same thing in 2006 with a petrol engine. I chopped it up for parts and scrap shortly after because it was not something people wanted. People said it was too big for their needs being larger than scooters popular at that time. It was just a small project I thought it's value retail would be under £500 $1000 at that time and I planned to make something better later on but seeing the price this is being sold at $16,997 USD is surprising. I think it's time for me to get back in to building projects again!

Brother was a rancher in Alberta foothills, used horses and ATVs. He would have switched to this in a hot minute. Given changeable batteries.
That would be perfect to slap a paramotor on. You could drop in & out of hard to reach places &, unlike regular paramotors, still be mobile & have storage for the chute. & they have new electric paramotors that you could just plug right into your electric system. & for your military applications, it increases the range of your drop zone & gives you an option to fly back out of a target area, quietly.
Very impress, do you see it expanding to disable people who would like to enjoy the outdoors but would need to sit down. I see the beach and the snow hills calling me now.

That is a great market...even might get some govt funding.
A couple of great uses would be as a rental unit for tourists for example here in Costa Rica at Beach towns. Another great use due to its towing capacity is to pull a small all terrain camping trailer.
On the golf course, I *need* to sit down, shade from the sun and a cup holder.

Very cool, but highly speculative of the outcome. Would love to see these carve it's own niche. This would be a great alternative to horses for sure. As someone who enjoys taking horses on trails, I would sometimes rather have something not quite a 4wheeler or dirt bike when i wanna enjoy the roads.

I think that by adding a one or two position long seat with a full suspension could give it some heal horse style rideability akin to a motorbike or jet ski.. A step through design could also fold back for a full standing ride.

I’d love to see it with a flotation system to become a sort of jet ski that can cross beach and ocean onto ship or forest and jungle into river and lake and also be helicopter powered like a drone using the same motors adjusting them using small hydraulic lift rods into position from land water air formats all in one

Not likely at least the helicopter. They need much much more power than this has. Plus copter blades are very heavy. Now a drone type system with 4 motors Maybe but for only a few minites.unless new much denser lighter batteries. There is a ride in drone copter in china but way more batery power than this plus less weight.
This could replace cars in a lot of situations. For single people which is 80% of the population this could even become a main personal Vehicles. That could even haul a moose out of the woods. Now just get the groceries home with it. :)

Agree, I live in the arctic, and I would really like to test it out here.
A bullet proof wind shield might be advisable, a knees to head x 32" wide with the super light weight, angular, deflective, and a bit thinner composite materials would at least take care of small arms fire and shrapnel, without being front heavy. The TA 50 ( gear ) and ammo, stowed behind the driver, should be perfect counter Ballance at 80 - 100lbs. The soldier also is wearing body armor so you wouldn't need a super heavy and cumbersome type shield. That way the soldier is coming strait at you instead of clustering behind stuff to hide behind. Cover and concealment are two ways the soldier tries to protect himself. Cover is the better of the two and a shield does that. As a former Combat Engineer 12 Bravo, I would be asking if some of those 12,000 watts could be used to haul something to cover my but with. An 80lb - 100 shield might do. Also swivel or slide it on tracks to keep the shield between you and the enemy in cases where you have to zig or zag to get around obstacles or traverse your way uphill. Just a few thoughts for the best people I know. Also, with a smallish vehicle carrying your gear and providing some cover, 556 would be insignificant. The soldiers extra or reserved strength a soldier would have from not having to HUMP a heavy load all night long should go to 762 or better, especially with the vehicle carrying the Heavyweight ammo. Increased, harder hitting fire power is rarely looked down upon - except by your enemies - they don't like that. Oh yeah, before I forget, a couple of overhead grenade launchers would not only look cool as fk, but you would find your enemy has left when he saw you coming - it's nice to win and still got all your ammo on board - saves lives on both sides too.
What a great device, I think this would be great for vehicle recovery out of multi-storey car parks where often a tow truck cannot enter due to high or width restrictions etc. This thing could pull the car out of the space and move it to a safe place for recovery or jump start etc etc. Then there is the local emergency ambulance services, in the UK first responders often use bicycles but are limited in terms of weight and equipment they can bring. A first responder on one of these would be so much more capable.
This and 4wd pickup could take you a very long way into the bush, and back. Great idea !
On the Military aspect to the extreme conditions: cold and heat weather on the batteries? And dearing enemy engagement doing a low profile? Can the handle lower and maybe get down on your knees to operate?
That chassis could support a carbon fiber motorcycle frame with the same platform dimensions and would be cool for longer treks. Like a land version Sea-Doo or jet ski take your pick.

@@EV3NTH888 You don't understand why some folks would want a $10k +1 electric vehicle that's safer than a motorcycle, but more fun than a car, to get groceries/do small trips? Minimal maintenance, cheap insurance, minimal electricity (charges on a regular 120v), etc. LyteHorse looks dope though, and I think Arcimoto is actually planning something similar with platform 2 (tied to the Tilting Motorworks acquisition) announced in their recent earnings call
Lytehorse is 8000 for the low model. Is it road legal. The Arcimoto is street legal. Although 17,000 and change for the low model. They say Oregon has a 5000 rebate. Dropping it to little under 13,000. I would rather buy a gas Can Am Ryker for 8900 new.
@@Pluberus I don't understand it because of the very limited range. I ordered the 1000 mile range Aptera. I understand that the FUV can't possibly match that because it's much smaller, but 150 miles of range would be way more useful
Wow! One of the most diverse vehicles that I have seen so far. One question not answered for me is the legality of on hwy use. There are times that I need to take my quad on-road to get to the next cattle field.

for military use i think a two person rig would be useful if large enough to have to serviceman back to back so they could provide eyes and cover for the driver
I lived on Martha's Vineyard and Mr. Norton of Norton Utilities would role up to the post office in Oak Bluffs from his house there, a completely flat course. I grew up on a race track and cornering stability is the god of the track. I did not buy a Segway after I saw Mr. Norton struggle with it.
Needs a version with folding steering and a seat. Military version would lower profile and allow very long distance treks.

The EZRaider, the Beast Electric, and yes -- all the Ali Baba and Chinese knock-offs. Are these "LyteHorse" people living in too much of a vacuum to realize how much competition there is outside of their business?
I want a version WITH a full seat that complies with regs for invalid carriages, as that would open areas of the country that are not as smooth as a billiard table to disabled visitors.
Put some battery packs under the seat, and leave some for luggage, and you have better range than anything currently on the UK market. Motorcycle/quad type controls so anyone can use it from day one!
So kind of like a step-through quad. I can't stand on one leg to lift my leg over any bike (or lift either leg far enough to do it either). I love the countryside, and have been kept out of it for far too long!

Is it ruggedized in the event of something like an EMP attack? I know a lot of the military vehicles have some EMP protection, just curious to know.
How well will it work with small creek crossings and mud. Quads handle this really well. Won't this be a limitation with hub based motors.

I’m thinking one of these with a trailer to carry materials around a farm....... moving fences, carrying feed, water ,moving a chicken tractor......the pricing on the whole package along with understanding limits and or can a charge last through a whole workday?

You can make a personal type carrier trailer. If it can to a motor home. It would be easy,6-8 troops. It would be a reinforced toy carrier. Great idea keep up the good work.

Very cool & looks fun but considering the size & costs, I don't see the diff btwn this & the ubiquitous ATVs. Except that with gas powered ATVs, there's no (or less) range anxiety with a spare jerry can. I can see the military specfors usage for noise suppression app but even then, range would always be a factor on EVs.

I can see these being used instead of tractors or atvs at haunted hayrides, carnivals, Christmas hay rides at displays pulling carts of people.

I've been looking at electric mobility scooters because I have problems with walking around and balance problems. But I would still like to get out and go out in the country riding. I also shoot archery and would like to go hunting still. One of these with a seat on it and being all terrain would be amazing for disabled people. I would need a seat and maybe a place to mount my bow and quiver. I would almost give my left arm to be able to be able to go out and do these things again. Although the whipped is a little bit much for some of the trails on the archery course for shooting 3D competition
i made a gas one of these when i was 30 , im 61 now . very cool but not a new idea .
needs a seat for the over 50 crowd...i have bad knees. Also have to decrease the weight, my ATV weighs 600lbs and fat tire electric bike is 82lbs.

To the Canadian inventor , I am working on a similar off road brushless dc unit for hunters in wheelchairs . Your unit is almost what I’m going for it’s missing the seat . And a gun holder . I need advice on wattage I’m starting with only 3000 2000 on the rear gear drive top speed 20 mph , and a 1000 watt front drive all geared for torque and not speed , Three wheels back single quad tire with two front quad tires . Weight will be hopefully under 350 with a battery made from 20 5600 mil hobby airplane packs and a BMS controller , could even do a replaceable pack down the road . Seems like a few have had this idea , I’ve been an avid outdoorsman stuck in a chair for 40 years I’m done sitting in the truck watching the fun . I don’t plan on manufacturing any just wanted one for me and they don’t exist yet not one like this anyhow . If I had of seen this about a year back I’d be looking into buying one . But Im well into the building not stopping now .also they look expensive .

@@benoitdelorme5256 product , I’m literally just building in my mind ,a one off , it so far has a narrow rear end smaller quad tires like the front on quads thinner quad tire , the frame is completely different it’s like building a lawn chair on a suspension frame with 6 kw of drive . I have a 3000 watt brushless motor with a very special differential . The wheels are set far narrower on the back , the front has a 40 inch outside rear maybe 25 , the total length is under 5 feet closer to 4 I think . The gearing is a 4 to 1 in the differential . With the ability to change the gearing later if I want . The top speed of the rear diff is roughly 40 mph . The two hubs on the front I have two 1500 watt hub drive from a Chinese electric quad company . So 6 kw possible all wheel drive the steering I’m not there yet but , it will be servo drive drive by wire . This way i will be able to remote control the unit like a big rc car I have a JR radio just for this and when done i should be able to load and unload it myself also utilizing its usage as a yard tool, able to carry or tow things while you sit and control the unit wherever it goes , hunting season i will equip it with a gun rack and it’s legal to go . For the battery I’ve bought 35 4500 7.2 volt packs 145 amp hours total and two BMS to operate in two waterproof ammo cans each can will have a 60 volt 72 amp hour batteries a BMS and a 60 volt controller ,one controller for the rear and one for the two hubs . The front hubs have a top speed of over 50 mph all that means is thell be pulling some at top speed , I was also thinking of being able to turn off the front hubs for cruising long flat terrain . The Cart literally looks like the cart in this video ,in some ways ,the narrow rear end with two tires I was going back and forth until I saw this the two narrow is the way to go . I think the 5 kw should be more than enough for a wheelchair of sorts Batteries made this way are easily maintained the 4500 mah packs are easy to remove abs replace if there is trouble . I was going to build the packs with 18650 batteries but went this way after i saw another cart project they found that using these packs can work well worst case these guys found after a run these packs were getting warm so I’ll have to watch that,, the guys who I talked to about these batteries were using them for racing full throttle all the time worst I may have to do is some light spacing between individual packs and a computer fan , we’ll see all part of the fun , I’m calling it ChairZilla . Lol

So since this is an investing channel, a reverse takeover means a currently listed public company on the TSX will essentially acquire this company and then the company ticker will change, correct? If this is correct then are there speculations of the company that will reverse takeover? Since we as the public typically cannot invest direct in private rounds one could speculate on the company that is doing the reverse takeover and invest in them. Thoughts?
In my experience the reverse takeover company trades for pennies on the dollar and could be a big winner if the speculation is correct.
Cost aside, Solar "blankets" and flexible panels are so versatile that if you needed charge to a battery carrying "utility trailer" in the wilderness, 1-2 kW of solar could easily be packed out into the bush... Not everyone's use case, but it could be far from "nominal".
(Segway did have a 4 wheeled concept - demonstrated as a sit-down vehicle - with balancing tricks thrown in..)

that said i see more and more single wheel electrics in Manhattan..way fasties
try going up a hillside not straight up but at an angle, the triangular pattern of the wheels is perfect for this.
Because this vehicle has so much torq, have you considered putting larger wheels/tires (Balloon tires) on it for going through wet muddy terrain and soft sand dunes?
What weight person is used for this mileage and Is it 80-90 miles on flat paved road or is that including gravel, hills, grass in that estimate?
Will there be a street legal version, or will you possibly incorporate a limiter in the software to avoid that obstacle while allowing for the off road mode to still achieve 40mph?
I wonder why Stand up jet skis lost favor to wave runner type watercraft. Sure they still sell jet skis, but they sell MANY times more PWC that you sit on. I feel like this will be the same. There will definitely be uses that favor this design, but they will be minimal compared to those that can't be done with a traditional ATV, and people will prefer to sit rather than stand.

Does it have reverse? With that towing capability it would work well as an aircraft tug but reverse is necessary for that.
I started messing with something like this years ago when electric scooters first appeared on the scene. I wanted an electric scooter but with offroad capable wheels. Then I thought how about 4 wheels. Started but never carried on with it.
Why not just put electric motors and batteries on an existing four wheeler

One thing that I don't think has dawned on most people is the raw versatility of battery electric technology. It can be as small as a one wheeled electric unicycle, or as big as a semi-truck or even an earth mover, and be drastically more efficient, quick, and pleasant than the gas alternative. You could maybe make a standing quad like this with a gas engine, but it would suck. It would be loud, smelly, the weight distribution would be bad from the chunky ICE, and the efficiency would be bad. Quads, motorcycles, and gas scooters have pretty good fuel economy per passenger, but they have terrible fuel economy per unit of power. Batteries can put wherever in the vehicle you want, electric motors are so small relative to their power output that you get huge flexibility in how the vehicle can be laid out. The smallest gas vehicle I can think of is a scooter, and the electric version is just better. The biggest gas vehicles are trains and earth movers, and they are either diesel-electric hybrid, or just straight electric with third rail or overhead electricity delivery. Electric motors are just better, more efficient, more powerful, more flexible, and batteries are now good enough to support them in all but a few applications, and even those are quickly disappearing. Planes, ships, and heavy equipment, and even those are close.

Ok, so for most applications you need a seat, standing is tiring to many that might want this. Over rough terrain it would mean the joints in your legs take all the shocks. It would handily replace virtually every Segway out there, in those instances. I'm not surprised by the torque that's common in these motors, range will definitely be dependent on a lot of factors including load and terrain. They should definitely look into adding regenerative breaking. It has applications but... this won't be as capable as an e-bike, terrain is less of a factor with those due to larger wheels AND the ability to be boosted by the rider peddling, and it's front profile is thinner than this device.
I'm NOT saying it's not cool. It just doesn't need to be the next slightly more capable Segway either. I'd like to have one for the fun of it, but golf carts are more comfortable, seat two across so the golfers can enjoy one another's company, AND it has a shade. But that's really not the market. Policing, yeah, it has possibilities and it would attract people to look at their cart so it's an engaging conversation piece. But it is certainly going to be more expensive than bikes and likely not a bit faster. Military applications depend on the mission. If they can fit themselves into a common mission then they've got something there. They're torque capable but *might* not be as speed capable IF range becomes an issue. And the price point will matter. A lot.
Any Ideas about the on road and urban models in the future. I'm in Idaho and I'd prefer not to have trailer it to the city limit, i.e. trailhead. great ideas allround, good luck with your business.

Overpriced for people on disability pensions being a Canadian with mobility issues Getting out to shop or doctors appointments this could be a game changer as mobility scooters suck! So I can't support this company as much as I would love too! So now I'm looking at a couple other options from overseas! I would like to have a reason to spend that much money!
