Watched Brian f. You guys definitely got that jet flying great. Exept you show what it can really do. On my 4th plane and getting better but if I can get half the pilot skills u got would make my day. Thanks for the great reviews
It's a great looking jet at realistic price, even attainable for a poor boy like me lol. I really enjoy your channel. Your reviews are in depth and videos are some of the best on you tube if not the best!
It certainly adds quality and enjoyment to the viewer! Thank you, Jon, two Brothers, keep em' Flyin'!
Great video. Iâm stoked I found your channel itâs helped me make decisions on planes I purchase and helps me dial them in. Cheers! You have a legion of fans here in Utah!
Happy to hear it buddy!
Thatâs what I call A REVIEW !!!!! Thanks for every new pilot who will watch this video! Nice job as usual my man đ€đ»đ€đ»đ€đ»đ€đ»
A bit excessive perhaps, but when we enjoy something we really dive into it. Thank you Arthur!
@@TwoBrosRC oh no thatâs what I thought really (I watched entire video)
Love you content! Keep up the good work!
This is absolutely a 10/10 I highly recommend it as well! Really nice and stable
This was a really fun video. I may have to buy one of these. FMS take note, this man needs more planes to review!!!
Thanks a bunch for the review. Always wanted a Rafale , now it looks like I can afford it! I love the 80mm jets especially the Phantom. Like I've said when I made the plane to jet transition, it seems that the really cool jets are only the 80 and 90mm and more expensive. I still miss my scratch built Eurofighter Typhoon. Also, wish that more 64mm had retracts.
The spektrum 4s 2200 50c is 260gr. Remove Landing gears, use 4s 3300, 300gr, hand launch for much more fun flight time with the Rafale :-)
0:46 "4s 2200 50c is what I meant to say"
Such a great video keep up the good work, Your skills are unreal
Great video! Your best so far!!!
You need one last vid 2600 MAH! and see flight time?? you guy's kill it!
just picked up this jet due to this review, wow dude what an insight !! subscribed
Happy to hear that! We try to give our actual viewpoint on these things and this jet really is one of the best 64mm jets we've flown.
i love flying this. Just ordered one for experimenting. Going to definitely try the battery further back! Awesome video!
Thanks Johnny!
Good ring out review Jon. You really put it through its paces and took it to the edge. I want one. đđđđâïž
Get one! It's simply awesome to fly. So happy they sent one to us to show off.
you guy's are good thank you!
holy crap man!! ive had bad luck with fms/horizon in the past but im definitely going to order this 64mm jet
Wow . Nice flying. This Rafale has wide flight envelope. Great Rafale :-)
Yeah⊠that minimum radius landing was an 11/10 đ. Absolutely amazing, almost alpha locked to a tail stand right as you touched down. Flipping awesome đ. Might have to get one of these.
#Rafalepha
I learn more from you than anybody else. Your awesome.
Happy to help, Jeff!
Nice video guys as always, on another plus note I greased my very first landing today I canât tell you how pleased I was , been doubting myself of late but my goodness was perfect I picked my 1400 navy cub up and smiled all the way to the car đ
Happy to hear that, Jay!
@@TwoBrosRC yea man was awesome, absolutely love the channel thanks man Iâll have that edf one day but not ready just yet đ
Flying is a vibe most of the time. The more calm and confident you are the better the result.
Good video fun to watch
Thank you for showing telemetry!
Very nice Jon. I've been waiting to see what the high alpha potential of this one really was since it came out. I've seen it alpha a bit, but not like this...I like it! Seems like its as easy as the TB F-16 maybe. Real Tail heavy might not be my huckleberry...lol. Jets for high alpha are a great use for gyros, so what makes the as3x better than the reflex? More programmability? Well done Jon. Enjoyed it. Would love to see you hand launch it. Everybody seems to be cutting hand holds into it. Looks like you could just hold it vertical by the tail pipe, gun it, and push it forward right out of your hands.
So a few things are going on with Reflex - it acts like a FLCS and limits roll control while permitting full elevator control. With Reflex, you get 150% elevator but close to 80% aileron throws. AS3X can also be tuned in flight by using relative gains - that's how we work with all of our models. The sliders on the back of the IX20SE control the gyro intensity. The left slider controls roll, the right controls pitch/yaw. On jets with flaps, we have a curved mix that comes into play when flaps are dropped - around landing thrust levels, the throttle increases gain values significantly to stabilize the aircraft at low airspeeds. This isn't possible with Reflex. It also seems to be tuned better by default - AS3X feels like nearly top-tier tech in comparison.
We'll probably hand launch it in the future, but removing the wheels is almost out of the question. Can't do touch & goes without wheels!
Good job camera guy
Oh man.. now I want one even more :)
Ace Combat 3 ost is on point !
I fall in love
Just.... WOW. Two Benjamins. I love my 64mm A-10 but this model is definately a "gotta-have"! This Raphael might jump favorites slots over my WWII warbrirds weekend warriors!
The 64mm A-10 rocks, no doubt, but it has *nothing* on how fun this jet is to fly - and how aerobatic it is.
Oh man I'm might have to get this
Love your flying skills.. Would love to get this plane just not sure I have no EDF experience.
This is easily a first jet - all you need to remember is that airspeed management will be important as jets have no ability to maneuver if they begin approaching stall speeds.
Did you switched off the safe mode when doing inverted? For some other gyros you can do inverted on auto-balanced/safe mode... J
just curious
We don't fly in SAFE.
I don't suppose you could share your AS3X gyro gains on this, and the 80mm Rafale? I'm ripping the reflex v2 gyro out of my 80mm because it's just inferior to AS3X in my opinion, plus it's just plain bulky, heavy and in the way for proper battery placement. Thanks again and awesome review of this model, it's next on my list of jets.
On our maiden and subsequent tests, we used 4x sensitivity with 15% roll, 60% pitch, and 15% yaw. I use relative gains on a slider for roll and a slider for pitch/yaw, producing a final result of 7.5% roll, 30% pitch, and 7.5% yaw. This produced a very stable airframe overall.
80mm Rafale: 2x gain sensitivity, 35% roll, 60% pitch, 25% yaw.
Sorry about the late reply, taking the Rafales down and getting the info out of them had to wait for a few.
@@TwoBrosRC hey no problem or issues with the response time brother, I fully understand as I used to do the CZcams thing myself years ago. Thanks again for the information on the gyro gains for both models, it will help me out tremendously instead of banging my head against the wall with trial and error.
i cant wait until they start making jets and warbirds in this size range that have [metal] retracts!
I searched your channel and I don't see any videos on the eflite f-15 64mm. I heard it's difficult to take-off and land with gears, and to also fly it without SAFE due to how small it is.
That's because we've never flown it. We don't own one.
Hi JonâŠthanks for the excellent review. I realize you removed the Reflex to make more space for the battery, but how is the Reflex as far as gyro capability? How does it compare to the Horizon AS3X gyro? Thanks.
We removed the Reflex gyro to reduce flying weight *and* fully customize the jet with the Spektrum AS3X receiver. It's not as fully-featured as AS3X is, nor is it as easy to program. Generally speaking, you're better off using AS3X if you have a compatible receiver.
Since you had the opportunity to fly the jet with both gyros, I thought you might be able to appreciate any significant differences in flight characteristics between the two gyros. Thanks again and continue your excellent reviews.
@@zeldacohen9140 It definitely flies more responsive on AS3X. Not much, but enough to be noticeable to us.
It seems no manufacturer wants to make an EDF model under 70mm with retracts. Put retracts and lights, flaps, the full kit, and I would be very interested in these 64mm EDFs. Flying around doing aerobatics with LG down, or not being able to takeoff or land, and not use retractable Landing Gear, is somewhat sacrilegious for me. The TAKEOFFs and LANDINGs are the most challenging, but with fixed gear on model that should have retracts.
The 64mm E-flite A-10 has retracts, flaps, etc. This jet doesn't because there would be no space for them. It would add weight and complexity to a model that flies really well at its current wing loading. While we agree that retracts would be great, they shouldn't come at the expense of performance.
Retracts that small are too frail to be practicalâŠâŠeven 70mm retracts don't fare well on grass fieldsâŠ.
@@waynebeasley8700 From what I know about physics, the forces on retracts fitted to a smaller aircraft, a 70mm EDF, are comparably much smaller than they are on a larger aircraft. Ant legs compared to elephant legs are much stronger by diameter per unit of weight they carry. The larger something is, the larger the legs must be exponentially. The weight and forces on a much lighter aircraft are less per unit of diameter. Retracts on 70mm aircraft could be stronger than larger a/c per unit of weight, IF ONLY MANUFACTURERS wanted to make them. The only reason they don't make them is they think we don't want them.
The grass is still as thick, and the cracks in the pavement are still as deep. Tiny retracts can not take the abuseâŠ..try it yourself and seeâŠ.
@@waynebeasley8700 Which tiny retracts are you referring to? The only 64mm EDF that has retracts is the 64mm DUAL EDF E-flite A-10 - not my cuppa tea.
That is one wicked little Jet, I new you were going to show what it was capable of. đ€đŒ
Does your friend make a Afterburner that would work with this Bird?
Larry's working on a 64mm burner as far as we're aware.
I'm wondering why fms didn't make a 64mm/70mm delta wing instead of conventional wing. But too, no more mixing board is a +!
I wana see what this jet will do with a canard mod I noticed those dont move
It's going to add weight and complexity. Could be interesting but probably not worth it.
Great video! Would this be a good hand tosser and belly lander? Update: I heard you say at the end of the stream that youâd like to take off the gear and try that, so that would be cool.
Absolutely - just remove the gear and gear mounts (or glue on a little aerodynamic block to hold the plane easier) and add some gray electrical tape to the belly to protect the foam, or coat it with Foam Armor.
Either you, pilot like a god, or this thing almost fly itself. Rarely seen landing that smoothâŠ
Definitely didn't fly itself, we're just used to flying jets.
Have to Maiden and did the Canard mod already helpfully i am good?
Did you fly it yet?
what Radio setting's are you using?
Elevon wing configuration, 150% rates.
which plane do you like more the freewing f 15 965, or the f16 viper ?
In terms of overall flight characteristics and performance, the F-16 80mm is more enjoyable than the F-15 90mm.
Ok thank you đȘđ»
Jon, did you replace the wheels with something softer maybe? Theyâre are so hard
Nope, we used stock wheels. They are hard but it's not a huge concern given how lightweight they are.
is it twin 64mm or single with bifurcated exhaust?
Single.
Great video ! Can you provide the AS3X file for those of us that don't know the proper settings ?
On our maiden and subsequent tests, we used 4x sensitivity with 15% roll, 60% pitch, and 15% yaw. I use relative gains on a slider for roll and a slider for pitch/yaw, producing a final result of 7.5% roll, 30% pitch, and 7.5% yaw. This produced a very stable airframe overall.
How does this compare to the habu sts 70mm?
Pretty similar we'd say, except that the Rafale doesn't float forever so it is more representative of how most jets fly. It also has a wider range of battery placements making it easy to get a neutral CG for wild flying, and is just a ton of fun - plus it comes with a gyro that you could toss into another model if you reprogram it.
Alpha lock, alpha lock, alpha lock, alpha lock LoL. Any rc flight sims out there where I can test this bird with the infamous alpha lock? Great review btw! P.S. Alpha lock!
Sims won't produce that effect. It's also rare when they simulate asymmetric stalls correctly too. You'll have to experience it yourself.
Hey uh I was wondering if you could link the parts you have used? Thanks.
What parts specifically?
What is the final verdict on the recommended CG location?
Depends on you entirely. What do you prefer after watching the various CG demos? We prefer neutral to tail heavy.
My thinking on the 80mm, as far back as possible!đ
I took flying lessons . Never flown stick n rudder rc
Give it a shot, it's a ton of fun!
Cool and bargain price , needs retracts though
It wouldn't fly very well with the weight of retracts.
I there my friend would this jet be easy enough for an absolute beginner! And if so where would I get one ,I'm based in the UK! If you could help I would be very grateful! Thank you!
Try ordering from bit.ly/Rafale64 - not sure but they might ship to the UK. It's absolutely a beginner's jet that you can make way more aggressive with a CG change.
I like it very much. All of them are beautiful. Would you like to get one?
We already own it.
ace combat 7 main menu theme at the start?
You're off by four games.
I guess 200 is just a part of the cost you see in the Video ? Or can i really buy everything i need to make that plane fly from "zero" for 200?
The jet is $199. It needs a receiver, battery, and transmitter.
Jon, whatâs the largest battery you tried? Iâm wondering if my 3300 packs will work
4s 3000 batteries are the biggest we've been able to fit into it.
@@TwoBrosRC thanks đđ»
Just finished maiden flight on this little bird. Only had a couple 4s packs lying around so first flight was with a 2200 graphene weighing 254g. I landed after about 2.5 minutes as I heard the buzzer go off which meant it had drawn down to about 3.8v. Only other 4s pack I had was a 4000mAh 50c RDQ series from Race Day Quads weighing in at 411g.
Typically I do just as these guys did only I use Frsky gear. I remove any receivers or stabilized gyros like reflex or AS3X safe stuff as I prefer using my integrated Frsky receiver gyros. It also allows adjusting of gyro through radio and I have a slider to reduce or lower gains in flight. Anyway was able to jam 4000 pack in and still have CG right about at aft line on forward wing attachment reinforcement plate. She handled the weight alright, obviously takeoff roll was longer, etc.
Did two back to back flights totaling about 5 minutes with two takeoffs and landed just to play it safe. Pack took just under 2000 mAh on charger to top it off again. Neither battery was hot and I forgot to check the motor temp.
Typically I much prefer as light a pack as possible but this was all I had but in the future I will likely not be using the 4000 even though the airframe carried the extra weight well. Just going to make the esc and motor have to work harder/hotter flying the added weight so this was just a curious experiment.
do you think it will take off on grass field
Probably not. You can hand toss it.
Is It Just The Plane Without Battery And Remote??... I'm somewhat new to flying but I've been A professional drone pilot for like 8 year's already so this shouldn't be to difficult to learn..
It comes without a receiver and transmitter or battery.
Sick video! You couldn't have done better except for a a cul-de-sac video.
I want a turbine RC so badly, do you have any?
We don't have a turbine.
âOne of the bestâ what is your top 3?
In terms of all jets or just 64mm jets?
I think he means for all jets of you see this
In Italia non spediscono?
You'd have to check and find out.
Making it nose-heavy makes it go faster, no?
No, not really. It should make no difference on flight speed.
@@TwoBrosRC So you're giving it full down elevator on full-speed level flight since you like it tail-heavy?
@@aragorn318 He is refering to the plane's center of gravity being towards the rear. A "tail heavy" plane does not mean full down elevator is needed for level flight just as a "nose heavy" plane does not mean full up elevator is needed for level flight. This video may help you learn a bit but I'd recommend doing further research on what CG on an aircraft really means. czcams.com/video/aGUBswKQUeQ/video.html
@@libra6829 I was referring to the CG section on page 13 of the habu sts online manual. Have a read.
Miss the camera that you have to c your stick movement's
I don't - required 2x the editing work and meant I had to wear a harness for hours!
Ya I hear ya no prob watching ya fly is bad ass
Maybe do some short clips to demonstrate fancy stick work, we donât need to see 20 minutes of transmitter.
@@jacobboone6078 That still requires wearing a harness and editing twice as much. We're looking into a transmitter tray that will let us attach a camera to it, but the days of wearing a stick cam are basically over.
Looks great and all, but the energy consumption is absolutely catastrophic on EDF jets. I have sold back all of mine because they only last 3.5 minutes on 6s 5000mah and those batteries cost a lot. I now only have ones with the propeller at the back and that's much more efficient. I get better accelerations, better speeds as well
We prefer shorter flight times with something that sounds like a jet versus a jet-shaped model with a propeller attached to the back.
Iâm not sure why people say this plane is so great. Itâs a pig on 4S. Itâs a good trainer I guess . Hard to stall and stable⊠but compared to Freewing 64mmâs, like their hornet and f16.. this thing is just mehâŠ.
It's not meant for speed. It's meant for slow acro and energy management.
So you go out to fly and record and then you check the weather on the app? Seems like a messy and inefficient/backwards way of doing things
We checked beforehand, it was just added in so you could see the app and how it benefits pilots.
You did not pay for this so you have no idea how overpriced this jet is especially in Asia. Not worth the money for us here.
$199 isn't really overpriced to us in the US given similar 64mm models are priced in the same ballpark. Obviously we can't speculate about Asia, but that's why the model was listed as "incredible $199 jet" - because it's mostly directed at US audiences. Getting the model in exchange for reviewing it is largely irrelevant, most of what we fly has been paid for out of pocket so we're well aware of how much things cost.
haha , when I see people paying $100 for a night vapor I would call this a steal in comparison!
You should ship some to Ukraine...
They aren't armed.
Total geek
Yep.
Remove wheeeeeeelllllls
Why though? It'll hand launch with them. The final review of the 64mm Rafale will showcase that. ;)
