I saw this car in person at The Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn Michigan at the exhibit called "Rock Stars' Cars And Guitars".
This Rolls is amazing to look at in person. Pictures really don't capture the true beauty.
Such an amazing paint job! Saw it in Leicester Square a few years ago, as part of some random exhibition or other & it still looked wonderful.
I saw this car with John driving it in I think 19678 or 9 in Pimlico London , my old Dad was not happy , we where waiting for a bus at John drove by 3 times he looked at me and smiled.....
Gary A How old were you then ?
13 or 14 . my old Dad was not happy with what Lennon had done to the Roller, I thought it was great
WHY IS HE SCREAMING INTO THE MIC?!
My word. This mans voice could strip the paint clean off. How many times can he say the same thing. I count three.
This car was not manufactured at Crewe (only chassis) but at Mulliner Park Ward in Willesden, Northwest London.
It's synonymous of the "Sgt.Pepper" Classic album and the Flower Power era of the sixty's . Absolutely Beautiful & a remembrance of the late Great Lennon !!!!
ALWAYS LOVED IT, ITS THE LEGACY JOHN HAS LEFT US I SAW IT AT KENWOOD WHEN I WAS 17 AND THAT WAS MY 15 MINUTES OF FAME IVE GOT A MODEL OF IT NOW TO REMEMBER JOHN BY 🙏⚘
ABSOLUTELY beautiful!
I had the privilege of not only seeing it but sitting in John Lennon's Rolls Royce when it was on display at the Victoria Museum, Vancouver Island in 2000.
I Saw it Sitting There, too!
it's beautiful
Imagine no possessions
Charlie X Exactly.. "Imagine" !! He's just asking us to imaging and is in no ways preaching. Also, in one of his songs he had said, "I'm the Eggman, I'm the Walrus." Now does that literally makes him a walrus? No. He was an artist. Not necessary he has to follow every word that he writes.
Its Yellow Submarine ,Sergeant Pepper on Wheels.
Reminds me of the pompous Texas oil men who used to put big bull horns on their Cadillacs. No surprise that they couldn't sell the thing.
“Imagine no possessions….”
Hello, at 2:00, this is another Phantom. The white one was purchased by Allen Klein, manager of three of The Beatles, and he gave it or loaned it to John.
I assume you've been told that there are imposters in your video.
so fucking cool 😎
and aaaaahhhh...
It's interesting that Lennon, who saw himself as a "working class hero", should waste no time in buying this Rolls, and not just an ordinary Rolls, but the top of the range.
So true. He sang of "imagine no possessions" and lived in mansions chauffeured in the world's most expensive limousine.
He even had a Mercedes 600.
@@westelaudio943 True, although I loved his music.
Why do you repeat the same information over and over again?
@Jim McCracken I can't remember why, it's over 2 years ago. But I didn't mean to come across as obnoxious, just the CZcamsr must have repeated certain bits of information quite a few time I guess.
@Jim McCracken Glad we cleared that one up. Take care and stay safe.
You did not mention this was the first car to have tinted windows. Lennon would go clubbing till the wee hours of the morning, and came up with the tinted window idea. First car to have it.
Dude, you from Boston?
I was a kid in the 1960's and loved the Beatles (still do). This was John's way of flipping off and pissing off the Establishment. Of course, he had his mansion and his Rolls so in many respects he had become part of the Establishment. Almost all entertainers seem to do that. Most, including Lennon, are narcissistic and vain and maybe that's what makes them seek ways to display their talents while the rest of us simply sit back and admire. In spite of his attitude, I am grateful for John's talent.
What is the year of this car? The guy didnt mention it once!
Yo imagine pulling up at a mac Donald’s drive thru in that car
❤
A lot of your pictures aren't of that car
LOVE IT ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT, IV'E GOT A MODEL OF IT OPENING DOORS THE LOT BEAUTIFUL 👍
I like it but if have the primary colour in black and the patterns in gold
Imagine no possessions? 🤔
John Lennon, one of a kind interesting fellow
What the fuck, did you use a rotary dial phone to record to audio on this?
Ran my hand round it in67
DOUGLAS HOTCHKISS Do tell us more!
I was @ 14, and the folks went to something in syracuse ny, lennon was doing an art show there, anyway , didnt even know about it, but just was wansering around, Ihad to meet the folks
Wanderin around cutting through the underground parking, came round the corner and there it sat..ran my hands round it,and had to hurry along, nobody believes me usually.
I partied with abbie hoffman on wellsley island too
DOUGLAS HOTCHKISS HEY Thanks for the remembrance! Im sure the Abbie story deserves its own video! Peace!
So, is this a...limousine?
I wonder if Rolls Royce got mad. when bob Marley bought a B M W they very mad and he did not re pant it.
I believe that they were a bit peeved
Those who accuse John of hypocrisy are truly mindless. He earned his money with his talent and work, he did not exploit anybody, did not support those starting wars over money etc... If you get this money you spend it or invest it, either way it trickles down to other working people.. Just giving it to the poor (which to some extent he did if we talk people struck by disaster) or what, giving you records for free, would not accomplish anything better.
Tudval Stone Agreed. I don't understand why they take things so literal. He also wrote that he was the eggman and a walrus. Do they believe that as well?
The Shape lmaooo
@Tudval Stone: Simply having "earned one's money", doesn't mean they're not materialistic. LOTS of materialistic people have earned their money. Doesn't make him a hypocrite, either: The same guy sang "Can't Buy Me Love" and "Money (That's What I Want)". He wasn't required to be one-dimensional.
He preached peace and love but physically abused his first wife Cynthia, and had very little to do with his first son Julian. He actually left £200,000,000 to Sean who was his son with Yoko but only £50,000 to Julian. He also Physically attacked Stu Sutcliffe possibly contributing to his death so yeah, he was a hypocrite.
@@ColinFlowers You;re wrong in that he left the same amount to Sean and Julian, they split a L100k trust. The rest went to the current wife. Where I live and probably in the UK also, without a will, the surviving spouse gets everything and the children nothing. Cynthia got L100k at divorce , when he probably had a lot less money. It's easy to understand that it was Yoko who had to approve of the will, I don't know what your experience is with women, but as a rule they are not very generous with their hubbies exes and children from previous marriages.
As for him attacking Stu, I don't know where you got that from. Wikipedia says this: "The cause of Sutcliffe's aneurysm is unknown, although it may have been started by an earlier head injury, as he was either kicked in the head, or thrown, head first, against a brick wall during an attack outside Lathom Hall, after a performance in January 1961.[68] According to former manager Allan Williams, Lennon and Best went to Sutcliffe's aid, fighting off his attackers before dragging him to safety. Sutcliffe sustained a fractured skull in the fight and Lennon's little finger was broken"
I would love that car
Please do your research a little more thoroughly, the car is actually 19'10" long, 2" short of 20'. It's a small matter I know, but still, it's a lovely cat with a terrible color scheme. Having sasid that, still, many thanks for sharing this clip with everyone. Take care and stay safe!!
Imagine no possessionsssss
Beautiful Car!
I think it's about time to reconnect JOHN and YOKO...enough is enough...43 years of forced,orchestrated physical separation....v e r y cruel.
I see them coming back for the SECOND COMING in this Rolls .. DAVID BOWIE ,ELVIS and JIM MORRISON sitting on the back seat. .. with some very loud tunes playing:
1.) DOORS : UNKNOWN SOLDIER
2.) BOWIE : CHINA GIRL
3.) EURYTHMICS : REVIVAL
4.) ELVIS ; he needs to decide himself..maybe a song about former FBI agent JOHN BORROWS...which in fact was h e himself...still has the badge according to the 2012 docu on him....
Why does this guy keep repeating himself?
Next time use a script!
He sang of "imagine no possessions" and lived in a mansion while chauffeured in the world's most expensive limousine.
It is best to watch this video with the sound OFF. Archie Luxury has the most annoying voice on CZcams. The man can't 'say 'car' correctly. I wish I had a buck for every time he says 'Ka-a-ar'.
Not a fan of the paint job. Would not suggest doing this to a Rolls Royce unless you are super famous.
Hugly
If I had the money I'd buy it and restore it to its proper original glory. I'm with the lady w/ the umbrella and think it´s hideous.
Commentary is awful
John "Imagine no possessions fucker" Lennon
I agree with the old lady. He turned it into a clown car.
This is what happens when your head is destroyed by drugs. What a disgusting car!
The CAR is not disgusting - but the PAINT JOB IS though.
It looks like a clown car. No wonder Lennon had problems selling
it. It's great to look at but not to own. Just an eyesore of a Rolls...
Hillary's Lost Email LOL...as if John Lennon would've had a problem selling anything let alone his iconic Roller.
@@tacoma5543 That guy is truly lost, eh? Seems clueless. Far from not being able to be sold, the car sold for 10 times what it was estimated to sell for decades ago, as it says in this video. But the Hillary guy isn't interested in facts, just expressing his weirdly inaccurate opinions.
A clown car it certainly is. This car would have the L-series naturally aspirated 6.25 lite engine inspired by the Cadilac V8 with only 172 BHP output. As the whole car weighed nearly 3 tonnes, it would be a gutless wonder - like a normal car of the time having only 57 BHP - it could not keep up with American traffic. And the new owner would have to spend big repainting it and converting everything back to Mulliner standard. Handling was not very good and it won't fit standard parking bays.
That's why Lennon found it difficult to sell.
These cars were designed for chauffers to drive royalty around at stately (i.e.) low speeds so that the peasants can gawk as they go past. They are no good for daily commuting to work, which even the most filthy rich Americans have to do.
Or perhaps for overnight rich pop stars who want to thumb their nose at the Establishment.
One critic said of Lennon's car: "Ugly, uncharming, and a pretentious bit of anti-taste."
