(Soloveyko = little Nightingale) , it is a bird of Ukrainian folklore
and mythology, a frequent image of old tales, legends, poems, novels. It
is also one of the symbols of thе Ukrainian language (Mova), as well as
Ukrainian bards (kobzars, lyrists, bandurists, wandering lonely blind
singers, prophets, storytellers, poets - who sang their works as a
"nightingale"). Nightingale in Ukrainian culture in the broad sense of
the word , is a symbol of a "song". We have more than 300,000
traditional Ukrainian folk songs, from the old pagan Slavic times of
Ruthenia (Ukraine) to the present day. (Songs of religious, elemental
