As an Illinois farmers wife, I know what the No Drift sign is all about. It refers to the weed spray for GMO crops that are applied with large sprayers that may indeed drift, usually due to wind.
Thank you for confirming my suspicion. I live in Indiana and have grown up around farms all my life, but I don't recall ever seeing one of these signs. That being said, my suspicion was pesticide and/or herbicide spray drift.
Bioluminescence was one the greatest ideas of whoever or whatever created the universe. I’m so grateful to live where the lightning bugs are crazy beautiful.

Must have been my long red hair, and I couldn't help but laugh. Anyway, on the way back I looked for a place to pitch my tent and decided on an access point to a......cornfield. There was no gate or fence, had plenty of long grass to cushion the tent, and late enough that nobody protested. All I was looking for was a place to lay my head.

Been watching since I was recommended the Indiana to Illinois video. I guess the algorithm knew I like adventures and live in Illinois. Went back to the beginning, am now up to around Athens, OH and will watch the Mississippi trip next. I live next to a creek that feeds into a tributary of the Illinois and have always dreamed about a home to gulf journey. Thanks for the journeys!
Matt, I can definitely see a consistent uptick in your moral since Jen rejoined you. Just as you were telling us you couldn't capture lightning bugs on the camera, one flares right in front of you.

You two compliment each other well on the road/ trail.I think I'd be worried sick if I didn't see my hiking partner for 1/2 hour while road walking...the difference between seasoned veterans and newbies.Much respect
We generally set rally points on trail so we don’t get too far separated. Here we often have longer visibility and also cell coverage so it’s easier to stay in touch if we want to walk apart and listen to audio books for a few hours
There were all sorts of nice folks up there who came looking for me or stopped as they were driving by. One guy was delivering organs or something and stopped a few times to bring me sandwiches and such
recently i was staying at open arms hostel and a hiker recommended to me best thing she found was coconut oil helped with schaffing issues. enjoy all ur videos n seeing all the areas happy trails to u both
I’ve found that at least for me chaffing solutions that work in one climate often don’t work in a different one. So I often have to try new things as I’m traveling to different parts of the country

I agree! I get to enjoy it underwater often enough but lightning bugs are just extra awesome
