- Here's an unboxing and review of the SteelSeries Apex 9 Mini which is a tiny 60% gaming keyboard with a difference because it not only has optical switches but they're also removable which is insane.
The SteelSeries Apex 9 Mini also has two different actuation levels - one for gaming and one for typing. There are different switch options, but this oen is SteelSeries Optipoint Linear optical switches. In this video I'm also showing you what this keyboard looks like with SteelSeries Prism Keycaps.

This black and white keycap combination looks sick. Might do this with my Huntsman Mini since I own both the black and the white version
Yeah it does doesn't it haha
Thanks for the review!
i like the keyboard, it sounds goodd. maybe i should get it for personal use?
I Just bought this to upgrade from a crappy amazon keyboard, Great upgrade!
I Recommend!
Can you help me I took out the space bar switch and now the space bar doesn’t work and the SteelSeries button acts like the space bar
and no silent switches :(. And Gateron doesn't sell optical switches with white housing which SteelSeries says "could" work.
very nice
Where did u get the white caps from just got the keyboard thanks to ur review really love it
They're SteelSeries Prismcaps. Links in the description
i got a question why does the german version of it has 900grams?
How long is keystroke total. dont care about actuaction if key falls down to hell and back🙃🙏
The linear switches (35g) are too sensitive for me.. I need the tactile (55g) or clicky (55g) switches..
are the stabilizers good? do they wobble/rattle? thanks 😊
Sometimes but only a little, lubrication may help and I may do that.
Changing the springs in the stock switches can give you all kinds of diff r ent typing experiences. It's actually quite brilliant for these to be swappable. It makes more sense to simply order different spring weights if you want to change the typing experience. Changing optical switches don't make too much sense it really only seems to be spring weights anyways. Gateron optical switches do work. Haven't tried making them tactile not sure if it's possible
Space bar rattles a little with stock spring. Lubrication and a higher weight spring with some mods solves all rattle
Does it have per key rgb?
k65 rgb mini or this ?
I got this keyboard for 105 after tax. Is there a huge difference between this and the apex mini pro? Wondering if I should spend the extra money to get the pro. I can still return the 9.
What games do you play?
Yes return it
Optical switches are swapable you can get gateron optical switches witch are hot swap
Right but how many boards can you use those in?

Where did you get the white keycaps?

is there a two models in this keyboard .. your model with weird shift key
There are different versions dependant on region, american models have longer shift buttons while british models have shorter ones
@@jeppe2787 thanks man for the info
this guy sounds like scar from lion king ngl
I have always been confused with the deference between the 9 and pro mini. Do you know
Yeah
pro mini has omni point switches. u can change the actuation on the switches. you cannot on the 9
@@loudhostage7427so what does that mean I’m trynna get the one that if I push lightly on shift it walks but what I’m hearing is if I push hard it will sprint im lost im just trynna find it but there’s so many out there
@@sfmusic1418 get apex pro mini
@@sfmusic1418If you want a keyboard like you’re describing I would highly recommend the Wooting 60HE. It’s a fantastic keyboard, I would buy it myself but the nordic version is almost never in stock and it’s super pricy to order to Norway so the Apex 9 Mini will have to do for me! (For now😅)
Which is the best , linear tactile or clicky?
Depends wich1 you prefer, loud or not.
wait shift is so small on yours but on the website it is full sized why?
Because it's the European layout.
@@TheProvokedPrawn ohhhhh ok
Why is the shift like that
because of the layout, the american layout has the long shift key, meanwhile the english/british layout has a small shift key
I have a question before i buy it. Does it work on consoles? I am playing on Xbox. Just sondering because its a huge sale That ends soon!
I don't know I'm afraid
@@TheProvokedPrawn 🤞
@@TheProvokedPrawn How is the connection? Is it USB-C both ends?
@@TheProvokedPrawn Thx for the help, my uncle just watched ur video and he is a Expert about things like this. It works with Xbox! Keep it up!
@@Rosin2 does it work with series x?
why is the left shift so small

i bought mine and it didnt come with the enter key like taht the enter key on mine was straight
That's because of the difference between ISO and ANSI
@@TheProvokedPrawn Ok thank you for the info
Is it also for xbox
The corsair sounds better to me
This is probably one of the worst sounding keyboards i've ever heard. I would never buy this junk. What a scam. The keyboard is the most important piece to any true gamer's set up. As you touch it thousands of times each day, its the entrance to the virtual world. And like I always say, "when you feel good, you play good", I am sorry but this joke of a plastic piece of junk makes me feel worse than terrible, duno how to describe this ghastly feeling.
Ok
I think steelseries staff are deaf they also advertise their headsets as the best sounding mics whilst they're considered the worst 😂
