This Gaming Keyboard Changes EVERYTHING

- Usually gaming keyboards from mainstream manufacturers aren't different. But the ROG Azoth changes EVERYTHING by listening to the keyboard community. They added things like gasket-mounts, three-layer dampening, hot swapped switches, a lubing station and an OLED screen.

Love this collaborative-interactive style of reviews from you guys. We should see more of these😊👍🏾✌🏾...
Wish we can get a barebones version. I like building from barebones. I dont like to spend money on a full kit if I am not going to use those switches and keycaps.
A barebones would be a great idea
If you're gonna spend 200~ ish for a barebones, I think you deserve something a bit nicer. Unless you want it for the novelty, I would get something a bit more... substantial?
@@niko1even I have built plenty of keyboards at this point. I would like this just for novelty like you said. However, if they sold it barebones I would expect it to be a lot less cheaper. But I doubt they'd want to do that so they can get the most $ out of the consumer. A DIYer is likely not their target.
@@ALT-HEX I doubt it, it would probably be maybe 30 dollars cheaper at most, even then it feels like a bit of a steep price. I'm only really making this guess based on past boards that I've seen with both barebones and prebuilt options, such as the Keychron Q series.
@@niko1even At 200 what would you recommend?
I appreciate how playful Dmitry’s videos are. And I hope your sponsors pay primo for those great ad reads.
Keep doing these interactive style reviews, this was a fun review to watch!!
Seems like a pretty solid kit. Oddly enough, the thing that impressed me the most is that the stabilizers sounded rock solid in the sound test, and I rarely come across stabilizers that sound good out of the factory.
But I wonder if the $250 price tag is justified. It seems well built, but I wouldn't necessarily say it lands in that price range in terms of materials used. I would be curious to see what a barebones version that only includes the stabilizers would sell for.
Its not. Good keyboard, terrible value.
It's bad value for what you get and the plastic construction and stuff gasket implementation kills it 100%
stabs are not good
I'm sure someone will do latency test on this keyboard and since its a custom I expect it to be very bad. Like not useable for gaming bad.
I could spend an eighth the price of this KB and have a very decent KB, this is just a cash grab
if there was a barebones version with all the custom toolkit features, I would be ordering it like YESTERDAY 👀
we need this kind of edit in every video from u guys, love how this is done
I bought it because of the wireless/bt connectivity - really like that I can use it simultaneously on my mac and PC with great response times to go along with it. Lubed the NX Reds, but they still didn't sound or feel good. The keyboard is really good however with the Black Ink V2s (I think it's the lower than normal profile keycaps as the Black Ink V2s usually feel pretty heavy). The Lubed NX Reds also sound really good on my, now replaced, GMMK Pro. I also love the oled screen (so much you can do with it!). Overall feels like an end-game keyboard for me.
The only problem I have is the software. I've been using this keyboard for a few weeks now and last week I updated the Armory Crate app and now I'm getting an 2006 error when going to the device using the software. Did several clean uninstall using their tool but still the issue persists. Completely uninstalled the software and using the keyboard without it. ASUS forums didn't help at all. Good keyboard, bad software
Armoury Crate is pretty horrible.
completely agree with you lol the software is asssss but the keyboard is amazing!
@@outbook seems to be working now without an issue but never really using it once i configured it once
I've had this keyboard for over a month now and it is pretty good. I reluctantly got the Azoth with brown switches (because it was the only one in stock at the time). It is much better than expected. The keyboard sounds really good, has pretty good features, and is hot swappable. Ofc you can get a cheaper board, but ehh I have an Asus laptop and wanted an Asus keyboard.
Nothing really too special sticks out on this board to warrant a $250 price tag other than it's typical ROG tax with a few gimmicks. For that price you could easily build two potentially three full custom boards. I guess it is good it's hot-swappable because you can simply replace your browns.
Troll
@@B_M_A with North facing switches, wireless, Bluetooth, and volume rocker? Try again.
@@B_M_Atroo, and miss out on all of the other features this board offers. the point of the azoth is being a gaming keyboard with enthusiast customizability lol. the price tag is for the oled screen, virtually 0 latency wireless connection, bluetooth, all alongside the customizability and quality of an enthusiast board. if this thing didnt have that god awful font on the keycaps it would pretty much be the best board you can get at 250 bucks for gaming.
the only thing that compares from what ive seen is the tecron phantom+ elite, but ofc you miss out on the oled screen and the stellar customizing kit that comes with the azoth. and im pretty sure the azoth wireless is lower latency too but the difference is likely not noticable. that being said, the phantom+ elite is also a whole 100 dollars cheaper so its likely a much better board with price considered, but then u cant have bongo cat on ur keyboard :(
Got this a few weeks ago and loving it! I have other keyboard as I like to switch around at times but this simply the best I have found in many many years. I have the blue switches and they are still pretty darn quiet.
Which mouse do you have 😊
@@GurmeetSingh-fr8uoLogitech Superlight, love it!
Hello, how was the keyboard now? Any double pressing issue?
Love this new format! The interactions bring so much more energy
Just got the moonlight NX Snow switch version. It’s a beautiful board with an amazing typing/gaming experience. You weren’t kidding with how thick and dense it is.
The board is good.
People are talking about how it's nothing compared a custom built, but it's actually pretty comparable. Yes you can fine tune custom boards to be the exact sound and feel you want but the Azoth gets pretty damn close. Before this board I was running a QK75 and while that board does feel amazing and great to type the Azoth is pretty much like 80% of the way there.
What I think people are ignoring is that it's the perfect middle ground for those who want enthusiast features while also not sacrificing on performance. On one side of spectrum you have the Wooting and on the other side you have a custom built. This is right smack in the middle.
@@Shibathedog Yep sadly those gatekeepers are loud and extremely annoying. Some even have this weird notion that for something to be considered custom or close to a custom: firstly it must be produced by a small company and secondly it must be limited in quantity lol.
Gotta justify that keycult price.
Can you link the wood wrist rest? That one looks like a perfect match. I plan on getting the moonlight version, and it unfortunately doesn't come with a rest.
Hi! can you use this keyboard with your macbook? If it does. Can I change the lighting of the keyboard? I'm planning to buy one.
nice though itll become an issue if you decide to change the keycaps to something aftermarket. not bad though for something right out the box and good for anyone who is tempted might want to eventually go into customising their keyboard. do hope there is a way to get the battery replacement aftermarket for poeple that do go wireless.
"nice though itll become an issue if you decide to change the keycaps to something aftermarket"
why tho
How does this compare to wooting? I'm in a need for a new fast keyboard. Wanted the wooting 1 but no longer available =-(
Seeing a gaming keyboard come with lube and a brush is WILD
Love the wrist wrest! What is it?
Nice review of the keyboard as well. Pricey, but closer to what people seem to be demanding of their premium peripherals.
It's a keychron wrist rest mate
@@jacksun_jack Cheers mate
Hmm, not sure if this is up to the quality of the GMMK Pro, Akko MOD007S V2 or the Keychron Q1 Pro.
What would you recommend Apex Pro TKL 2013 or Razer Huntsman V2?
You mention the keycaps are doubleshot PBT, the Amazon listing says ABS in the product headline and PBT in the description. I wonder which is correct.
Good looking keyboard, though I dont like small keyboards. I just ordered ROG Strix Flare II Animated. I just like a full keyboard. I often use a numpad. Itis way faster way to do numbers than with a number row
Okay, I like every single direction they have gone with this (color, style, connectivity, etc) *BUT* the sound. That's not (at least in the circles I move in) a desired sound. The point of buying an already lubed keyboard is to avoid the tedious process, but that's waaay to 'clicky?'. Not *_thocc_* enough. It sounds as if it needed way more lube and dampening.
But again, I really appreciate the effort and everything else. It's a step in the right direction.
And honestly... Maybe a 50$ price reduction would make sense. $250 for a keyboard... It's half a GPU or a good CPU.
When you can get a better one modded for 150$, it's an easy pass right now, but I get is quite new in the market and most of the experience is premium.
Thats more into clack, but pretty hollow and still quite scratchy. and yeah i agree it's nice to see mainstream big brands going this direction.
Its a great keyboard, it was my dream keyboard actually... I haven't used it in months. If only Armory crate didn't botch my OS install, cause a ton of registry issues and errors, phantom errors and crashes, and hijack and then permanently ruin the RGB on two of my ram sticks. :/
hope they make some "office" ones as well.. just mate black or white .. would be lit af.
I've been looking around and there is no clear answer, if anybody knows pls let me know, Does Armoury works with Mac? I got the keyboard and downloaded armoury but it doesn't register the keyboard for some reason, therefore I'm stuck with basic configuration, can't really use the display and if I can't well, then the KB isn't really worth it.
Which wooden keyboard palm rest is that? the q1/q2/v1??
I think the little OLED they use is the same screen thats on the back of the ROG phone. Looks like the same size.
That would be smart on their part!
Its really impressive that they are able to make a 250$ keyboard sounds that hollow
😂
I think its due to the board being stacked with dampening so the entire assembly acts like a single solid object which can easily transfer vibrations from typing to the desk and make those thunking sounds from the spacebar.
An easy fix will be to replace the bottom foam layer with polyfil. Edit: or you can remove gaskets from the spacebar area on the plate like how Geon designs his boards.
But overall for $250 offerings from iqunix has this one beat
The whole keyboard is literally screwed TIGHT af out of the factory that the gasket isn't even doing the job. Ez fix is just losening the screws.
Who gives a fuck. Gaming keyboard latency + hot swappable is a good step forward.
I spent that on a ducky and honestly have 0 regrets. I could probably kill someone with it too if I needed to.
It's quite decent as a complete one, TKL would be nicer too.
suprisingly good sounding and kinda have a tint of soft clack
Is it compatible with artisan key caps cherry mx?
I have one and love it , still deciding if I should bother getting a wooting for overwatch already having this lovely board.
That wood wrist rest looks super nice, where is it front?
That is one beautiful keyboard!
well.. for $69 i can get basically the same functions as the Azoth with the Royal Kludge RK H81, except for the oled screen and accessories. the ROG tax is pretty hefty on this one
Yeah I did the same with the RK65, bought custom keycaps and Durock creamy green switches, overall ended up being around $120 build? Though that battery life on the Azoth is wild
The KLUDGE looks like something that belongs in the toilet.
@@KK-fi6ms add another K to your name and then you belong in the toilet more
@@QuicSi1ver The Kludge in the toilet provides the third K.
@@QuicSi1ver Hey, after some research, I ended up buying the Royal Kludge 81. So good suggestion LOL. It still looks like toilet, but its got good features. Gotta replace the keycaps to make it less toilet worthy.
8:31 Excuse me? 2 THOUSAND hours ? Bro i might die before i need to charge it again 💀
Bring on the barebones version! The chassis is great. The keycaps, not so much. The switches sound like they are worth checking out. I need to upgrade my RGB. I'm only getting an 18% FPS increase. 🤣
I liked this when I saw it at CES, and I still want it
I’m hoping it’s the mic but with all of those features for sound dampening inside the keyboard, it’s disappointing that there is no THOC to the sound.😢
yea keyboards really have changed. Luv ur vids
Is anybody else having an issue where the date and time in the OLED isn't updating after you turn off and on the computer? Had to manually set it again EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
Can you compare this to the Keychron Q1 Pro which is a premium wireless 75% keyboard for a similar price but all metal?
For wireless... the Keychron are all only bluetooth which is a dealbreaker for gamming (80ms lag).
@@mikemorrison7774 Agreed but still think it would be an interesting comparison. Battery life is also much worse.
I'm good. The OLED screen just makes it even more unnecessarily expensive, AND I'd have to swap out those ugly caps which is another avoidable expense.
I love this format. Both of your interactions were great addition to it. Bring Mike in!
Mike will join if they attach fan to that keyboard don't worry ;D
I have issue with Font on keycaps aswell! what a shame.
Dygma raise is a life changing experience, and this is another keyboard.
they wanted to release this mid february, almost a month delayed
what keyboard wrist rest you use ?
guys where did u get that wooden wrest rest
Do cherry profile key caps fit?
This vs the wooting is what I'm debating on.
This keyboard doesn't change everything, the Wooting does.
Do you know if they are going to make a white version
how does this even compete with other stuff that exist already? You could probably get a nice board from some groupbuy for around same price or just get a keychrone
The market for custom keyboard is super competitive now. Not even 2 years ago was anywhere like today. Even the stupid Etsy has tons of custom keyboard. Asus is simply disillusioned thinking that can charge this much. The people here in this channel is way smarter than that.
A very pleasant sound experience after all that PORON talk made me think it was gonna be something else 🤣 BTW love the way you tapped that.....err...them keys!
Sounds like a custom, nice
I just bought this keyboard with the brown switches, it’s amazing coming from a gmmk
Only thing missing is analog input like the wooting. And 65%.
just built my keychron Q1 Pro, got it all done, didnt install key caps, tested it, and 1 socket does not work! uggghhh, got to have them send me a whole new pcb, sucks.
This keyboard is a godsend! Its Kaihl BOX Red switches respond instantly, and I can type on it very quickly and accurately. The Dream machines DreamKey TKL Red is every gamer's dream!
Seems like I see what wlll be my next low profile mechanical wireless Keyboard
But at first my LG 915 TKL had to die
I love this keyboard! Waiting for price drop so I can finally afford one! :p great review sirs!
Bluetooth can be implemented on a full aluminum chassis with smart design choices. North facing LED/south switches, appears no 5 pin compatibility? This thing is kind of a miss due to some just real half-ass choices on a lot of really small easy to fix problems.
There are 5 holes for 5 pin. And bluetooth for gaming? No, you need 2,4, and even then the QK75 which has it with alu body (the only custom I know with 2,4) has 100ms more latency than this.
I recently got the asus azoth keyboard everything seems to work perfectly but there is one problem im facing is that when i charge my keyboard it doesn’t increase over 50% it just gets stuck on the same battery percentage, any way to fix this problem?
Hmmm that’s strange. Can you reinstall the driver? Otherwise might be an issue with the keeb.
-D.
@@HardwareCanucks i had it replaced, so i hope everything is fine now
@@HardwareCanucks thanks!
The side elements of the display aren't OLED because otherwise you would get terrible burn-in. This is precisely what happens to my Steelseries H Wireless display.
i could not find this information elsewhere, would you mind sharing a source to that?
I'd wait for Azoth 2, this first gen is promising
I'm waiting for the 3!
anyone who know the mousepad (link or name plz)
DIY is very difficult to ask for a warranty replacement
I have a Keychron Q5 Knob version so I'm in the same boat as everyone else but I think we have all gone mad over the sound of a key stroke. lol
The OLED screen is nice. 🤩
Cool but at the price might as well just go full custom. Hand crafting keebs is so satisfying.
Good luck with finding custom with 2,4G. I know only QK75 and that comes with 100ms higher latency than this. Keybored measured it somehow. And 2000 hours with a custom? Which comes even close? And with screen that is actually usefull? Name one..
IIRC this board also has a higher polling rate than standard for less latency gamer things.
can i set an alarm for coolant temp on the lcd
Great Review but i didn't hear anything in regards to MAC compatibility with the keyboard management software.? not a single reviewer mentions this or speak on this to inform anyone. spolier alet there is no mac.dmg for the management software that i've found correct me if i am wrong..
I just got myne three hours ago. It's not bad at all. I'm not sure if it's worth 250 plus tax.
i hate this trend towards tiny cut-down keyboards. even TKL just doesn't feel right for me. wireless connectivity also feels silly in a stationary keyboard. but at least Asus seems to have figured out a somewhat useful purpose for the screen, unlike SteelSeries, whose "Smart-Display" can't even show the time without 3rd party software
Smaller keyboards give you more mousing space. Not sure I would really call it a trend, I bought my first 60% keyboard around 15 years ago, so I wouldn't count on them going anywhere.
Do cherry switches work?
Keychron k2 peo alluminum chassis with a full lube set from glorious costs you about 180$. This seems allot of money for the package
"Poron foam." Who was the genius in the ASUS marketing team that thought publishing that would be a good idea?
Why is it not avaliable in my country :(
Still nothing compares to the wooting for gaming
It's cool they're trying to bridge the gap between casual users and enthusiast. It sounds decent for a prebuilt keyboard. But, with that being said I could definitely build a better keyboard for a cheaper price, or a better sounding one for the same price.
Can I use Vaseline gel to lubing my keyboard? you know it good for making thing...slippery.... so maybe....
Where do your wrist pad came from? 😊
8:50 "When you turn on the RGB it does boost your FPS as well. Don't forget that."
I'm going to turn on the flashlight in my smartphone so I can gaze my eye upon all that RGB goodness from my smartphone's flashlight." 😀 And I will stare at my phone's flashlight for hours.
Ha ha. Just kidding. Oh, wait. I'm not going to take care of my right eye. I'm blind in my left eye! 😄
everything on my build and extras is asus strix even x2 sometimes... i love the quality of asus products and the extras.. this keyboard kit and other little extras that come with this higher end products by Asus, makes me feel appreciated as a loyal enthusiast to Asus since i was 10 years old building my first PCs.

Disagree with the reason for the plastic bottom. My RK84 Pro is metal all round, has wireless 2.4 and bluetooth. my guess is that theyre giving themselves room to release a "pro" version" later.
At this price they could afford to give you an un-braided cable so it could be more flexibly routed.
2.:25 what case is that?
This video is presented in a different way
What’s crazier. $300 for an ASUS keyboard or $300 for a Razer Mouse
$250!? Keychron is still my top keyboard maker today
I don't think it changes EVERYTHING but it is a good keyboard now being hot swappable allowing consumers to keep it longer.
Really cool keyboard, but unfortunately it's too expensive for what it offers. Would be worth considering if it was half the price and did not say "gaming" anywhere on it
The snobby keyboard community hates it and the regular chumps with no hobbies wondering why it's so expensive. This really makes you wonder, who is this really marketed towards? Lmao
I'll take a Wooting if I want a gaming keyboard. For anything else, I'm happy with my Moonlander.
