I missed this video when it was originally posted but I've just found it and watched it a few times. I'm moving my home around and all my woodwork stuff is going into a room that is 11 by 9 feet (3.35 by 2.75 metres). In the past week, I have daily moved stuff around, trying to find the optimum layout - and I'm still in the process of doing that. With the amount of stuff I have to fit in, it is a grind lifting all the heavy stuff around - but it has to be done and will eventually be worth the struggle. One thing I have realised is that I need to trim the tools that I actually need because there are so many that do not fit into the hand tool category that I will be doing there. So, a lot of it will be going to a barn for storage or my carpentry use. My bench will need to be placed centrally in the room with everything else stored around the walls, within arms-reach. The door into the room is in an awkward place so I will have to work around it. There are only two double electrical sockets so things need to be set out leaving access to them. The room heater and window take up a chunk of one exterior wall so that area is out of the equation. It's proving to be a head-scratcher so I'm having to be creative.

Sounds like your move is keeping you busy. It's definitely a bit of a struggle to fit lots of tools into a small area, I'm sure it's worse after having a larger workshop. I don't think I'll ever be 100% happy with it, I'm always thinking of how i can fit more storage in or make better use of the space. It's just a constant work in progress.

Love how nice and organized your shop is. As someone with a 4ftx5ft storage shed shop this video was very helpful

Very efficient use of space to stow lots in a small space. Must get hot in those Perth summers.

WOW, and I thought my workshop was small. But, you've done a great job with the space that you have. Great video. 👍

Thank you for a very helpful video. I am from just south of Brisbane on a small block and toying with the idea of a small shed to vacate the garage (The Boss and daughter do complain.) Good one. I dream of a little cottage type construction with colonial windows and door ! sigh !! Back to the drawing boards and thank you very much mate.

What a fantastic , down to Earth tour of a busy person's hand woodworking work-shed.
I repurposed a lockable storage area during Covid, which is 3 by 4.5m. I have a Moravian style workbench with a sliding Dead-man at the front of the bench. The workbench weighs about 120-150kg but it collapses into 7 parts so if I was to move this is easily transported.
Your video provided me with a solution to how to be productive in a hand tool workshop - the use of cabinetry behind the workbench a couple of side workbenches for sharpening (Tormek and stones). I think your cabinetry is a good mix of vertical storage and low level traditional cabinet storage.
My biggest dilemma is the need for equipment I use in continuing to do further construction in a large country garden; making it accessible but not impacting on hand woodworking activities.
What type of lighting regime did you adopt for work and also for filming?
    Thanks for a great video

My shed has no mains power wired to it so everything is powered off an extension cord from the house. I ran and connected 4 LED battens (similar to these i can find the exact ones i got anymore, but i had ones that just plugged in - www.mercator.com.au/product/bright-led-batten-with-sensor/)
these are on the roof of the shed above the bench these battens just plug into a power board that i cable tired to the roof beam. These main lights give me adequate lighting for most tasks and provide most of the light for filming.
I also have 2 articulating lamps from ikea (www.ikea.com/au/en/p/tertial-work-lamp-dark-grey-50355442/) the one at the bench i jammed into a wooden holder that fits in my bench dog holes (i got that idea from Rob Cosman) which allows me the more extra lights where i need it.
So far this has worked for my lighting, but its not perfect and i am looking for more portable lights to help with filming.
1 solution i can think of for the construction equipment is maybe keep it portable on a cart with wheels so you can move the tools around and out of the way when you don't need them. not sure depends on the size of the equipment and how much space you have to move things around.
      Hope this helps.
Thanks for the comment, good luck with you workshop storage, its always a continual battle to fit more stuff into a small space and still be functional.
P.S. i may end up doing a videos covering the lighting at some point, and i have made some changes to my storage recently and will most likely do an update video on that soon.

Very nice how you utilize the small space. How do you do your woodworking in winter? Could imagine it gets quite cold in the small shed and i am looking into something similar as shop since i dont have much space :)

I am from Perth, so the winters are usually mild. I do sometimes use a small electric fan heater which works ok since it's a small space and wear more layers, so far I haven't had too many issues. But I make do with what I have. Ideally the shed should be insulted which would help a lot. Hope that helps
