- In this video I stumble across a strange and dirty roadside creek. Can you believe there were fish in there?!

This style of fishing looks fun you make is look effortless.
That was interesting because you were in my back yard! haha I know exactly where you were and grew up fishing on that mountain. That's a heavily stocked lake for the tourists. I've never fished that stream though - never even thought to as I was always on the move to more remote lakes and streams on the mountain. Anyway, you inspired me to play in that creek this summer!
Looks like all of that dry silt area was lake bottom at one time. Did a dam break or something?
@@georgesakellaropoulos8162 No, the reservoir is used for farm irrigation down below. Last year was more drought so they drained it down a lot.
@@SanJuanMountainBob Okay, thanks for answering my question.
Where is this place?

Another impressive outing for you! Thanks again for all you are doing to show how simple fishing is so much fun. The scenery was awesome.
This really illustrates the importance of exploring your locale. So many places that seem unpromising may actually be the best because no one bothers. I saw a quote that noted the Dept of Fish and Game in California had done a survey of fishermen that found that 95% fished less than 100 yards form their parked car.
That told ne for an extra 100 yard walk I could find a lot more fish. It was true.
Your knack for finding interesting waters is amazing! Many thanks for sharing!
As a kid one of my great joys was walking the creeks in Northern Nevada hunting the Wiley Brook trout. Later in life I was stationed in mainland Japan and found out about Tenkara fishing and was eager to do it when I got home from the service, unfortunately after the service I was no longer able to walk those streams again;Thank you for taking me fishing again.
Thank you for your service. It means a lot to us.
Thank you for your service and your sacrifice 🙏 ❤️
@@jacktrout5807 I was just trying to avoid collage 😁
Love these tiny and unique creeks!
Love this adventure! Very cool spot. Thanks for sharing!
Awesome! I have fished there many times and it has typically been productive for me as well!
Great vid. I really enjoy your small stream fishing, even though I don't tenkara. And yeah - it amazes me where you find fish!
Always nice to see the fly patterns you're using. Thanks for sharing.
I like too see that this video hit the CZcams Algorithm perfectly👍💯
Such a beautiful place! Amazing fish, both the huge rainbows and the pretty little browns.
Thank you very much .
You have a rich open wide flat field .
Tiny little creek , tons of fishes , cool clear water .
And no angler around you . One of the paradises .

Awesome video thank you for sharing!
Genius i love your videos !!!!
Nice fishing verity, several environments to manage, lake, desert, prairie, Woodlands. Thanks Tristain for the adventure.
Great video...it's nice to see you struggle sometimes like the rest of us. Great natural nature's of fishing.
Thx.
Gorgeous! I have fished that creek once. Caught a few fish.
Time to learn dry fly fishing with your tenkara. It is so much fun in mountain streams. Bigger streams you have to do nymphing early in the early season but mountain wild trout are so much fun in small dry flies. At least here in Georgia.
Good Tenkara fishing! I love small creek Trout fishing too.
Congrats on 20K Tristan! Well deserved!!
I love watching you fish.
Awesome vid. Reminds me of when I use to fish near Creed, Co. in the 70s.👍🏼🎣
I have to say that I do believe that the clear stream looked like a limestone spring fed. Wild browns. So beautiful. That dirty stream looks like cattle could be in the stream upstream. Great vudeo.
It’s awesome because the tiniest fish always put up the most fun fights
That looks like the creek that runs along the road hwy 50 from montrose to monarch pass. I driven that road the years and the water at blue Mesa just keeps getting lower. Good video. It's great to see a place I've been by.
I had a serious plan to visit a US as a tourist, including fishing. Now everything is ruined without any clearence.
Great video, i relaxed and distract myself from all of this mess.
Good luck.
Can't wait for the sequel
I just happened across your channel for the first time today. I caught 6 rainbows myself today here in Idaho. My best one was the same size as the first one you caught in this video
That mud flat section looked like the best spots had silted over a long time ago.
I grew up in CO and know where there are several roadside creeks with great fishing. One of them is full of brookies up to 12 inches long and I have never seen anybody else fish it nor have I ever seen another footprint there and it is less than 100 yards from a state highway. Lots of cars drive that highway going to other fishing spots and don't know they are driving by great water.
Don't tell anyone, you'll ruin it!
Thank you for sharing.
That looks like the small water that flows thru Yellowstone, filled w fish...
Great job 👍🦈🐠
Let's go... been binging you, and trying to learn as much as possible before I use my new tenkara rod, a tenkara USA iwana. I bought it at an expo (got to feel it) for only 70 (msrp is 170) and my mom paid me back and is keeping it for a month till my birthday.
fly fishing will give you lots in your life. enjoy it!
@@cymbolic_space1832
I love all types of fishing and tenkara is the newest type to add to my arsenal...at only 14 I have a lot of time to learn
@@missiondiscover rock on man! its going to be a best friend for life!
What a beautiful environment to fish in
Wow, I was surprised that you are doing Japanese traditional style in US. Nice fly, Beautiful scenery and Beautiful fish🐟
Looking for next video👍
I hit some similar if not same stream same time. Full moon, Harvest Moon?, snow and cold. But it was the smoke that drive me out.
I think I hit two streams that had been pulled down. Mud was like standing water...ugh.
Ya done good, Pilgrim! 😁
I don't know why I watch these videos on CZcams they just make me so envious. I'm from the UK and we have nothing like the fishing opportunities you guys have, the US is certainly an Anglers paradise. Anyway keep up the good work and I hope you have many more fishing adventures. From a very envious Brit.
You’re kind of right. I live 15 min away from a river with wild trout and year around fishing. I don’t live in the sticks either.
We are spoiled on the trout fishing front, that's for sure. Thanks for watching.
Great video, we mostly have only brown trout in our rivers. But people grow rainbow trout in rivers and sometimes the hard stream after the rains break the nets and they escape, and breed. And I do not know if it's goon or not.
Great video!
I need to get a landing net like yours. Nice video.
Wonderful
Well, you've convinced me to take up fishing again, retirement in the NE. Thank you.
Great video.
Super Klimaty!!!! Pozdrowienia z Polski!!!! 🙂👍
Dam, now I gotta go find some fishable water. Fished those creeks in Colorado for 20 years, time to get a fix.
What a beautiful place Man! Peace!
Watching from Mauritius! Didn't know that you can get fish in such shallow waters!
I wish you kept going upstream! Looked amazing.
I know right we’re you are, just fished the creek there a few weeks ago. If your back in the area I know of a few small creeks you might enjoy fishing.
Love it
Definitely I will go there one day fishin
Tristan: Fun episode! Netting procedure: Bring the fish close to the net, then release the pressure on the fish by lowering the tip of the rod, the fish will have the tendency to swim downward into the water and/or in the net. Does that sound easy?
The excitement of catching a night crawler.
This happens on the Bow River which goes right by downtown Calgary Alberta , In various spots when the river resides pools of water kinda swampy remain , And very often a few Brown Trouts and Rainbows will be in them
Yeah around the bow and bow tributaries there’s often little pockets in the late summer with a few fish in em
These small creeks connect reservoirs that are mainly irrigation sources. So when they call for water, the creeks can be muddy from upper releases. But they are fun to fish and can contain surprisingly large fish.
Looks like a great place to fish. I might consider coming back after the monsoon season and throwing a float tube in that lake. Do you ever fish out of a boat with Tenkara? I’ve never tried it, I usually go Western mode.
I know that stream and lake very very well. I’ve caught 18” browns out of that other stream.
15:55...that is a nice fish.....all those little ones have to come from somewhere.....I think you just found where.....I would venture to say if you hiked in 1/2 a mile and then started to fish...you would find some leviathans living in each small pool......
man all the creeks in my area in BC are closed from fall to june. then run off makes them unfishable for another month. this has me itching!
Super Video
I guess the fish get concentrated in such a small space making it easier to hook one
Another great Tenkara creek experience. Fish found where you least expect it. Can you add 12 inches to your net handle?
Nice
Another great video. I never imagine that fish reside in that kind of environment. Anyway, I notice that level line you use looks much brighter lately. Did you change the brand?
Nope, same as always. How easy the line is to see depends entirely on lighting conditions.
I came across your videos like a month and two and decided to get me a A dragon tail rod me and my wife are going on vacation and going to Yosemite for a week is there any spots you recommend or have fish that area love your videos
Nice video
I should get a new tenkara rod eventually. It wouldn't make any sense to use western gear in a stream like that. Very satisfying presentations with fixed line. Super subtle, tight to the fly, and you can eat a sandwich while fighting a fish.
Wspaniała AMERYKAŃSKA PRZYRODA chciałbym być z wami i łowić ryby !
Wonder if there is some silt in there making the water that color
Love that net, you have a link?
After watching this particular video, I was wondering why you don't use a strike indicator on the murky water. Is that something you wouldn't do with Tenkara.
The lake and the stream are probably muddy as it picks up sediment that was deposited when the lake was at full depth.
I always wonder where all streams and creeks start at and how the water just keeps flowing like in rivers..
Strange little waterway to be so fishy. I liked the forested area better.
Fishing the current backwards. They face upstream and can see you. Gotta come from behind them downstream.
I like that net. Do you mind sharing the brand or model? Thanks!
May have to go to a 18 or20 size fly
A great location, very beautiful!
Do a lot of beaver ponds hold fish?
Asking from Australia.
Yes, they often hold a lot of fish 👍
@@TenkaraAddict we don't have beavers, but in summer, children make rock walls all along the caravan park rivers.
Your videos made me want to try tenkara. Caught my first trout using a tenkara rod, a little brown trout in Arizona, last week.
I’d love to get a link to your rod, new sub! Great vid
Check the video description 👍
You ever fish small streams at Moab?
Could you possibly fit a polarising filter to your camera? This would enable us to see the fish. 👍👏👏
Man that lake looks like its on the verge of drying up
Trout the beautiful
"All dried up, and don't know what to do. Next thing you turn around, you find you're fishing in a pool."- 311 from an alternate dimension.
😍😍😍
If you're fishing alpine lakes and not having much luck, alway fish the outflow and even 100m down or more
For weird fishing, why don’t you try fishing the cement logging flumes up in Northern California?
Has the stream filled up this year?
👍👍👍
How many years has that lake been drying up?
👍
I'm taking a trip to a friend's in loveland Colorado any pointers on where I may find Golden trout its been a dream of mine to catch one ill be out for a week in May
I don't, sorry!
I know this lake!
1:06 if they are jumping it’s because the lake is dying ?
Is this pikes peak area?
What flys do you use? How do you know which will work out where? I just spent 4 hours fly fishing the Provo river in Utah, I might have had one bite…might have been a snag…I haven’t fished that river in 25 years and it is significantly worse! What I used 25 years ago hasn’t produced a single fish!! Wtf?!
I just fish with whatever fly I want to fish with. Check the video description for info on the flies I use in each video. For the Provo, talk to one of the local fly shops.
Nestle slurping up all the water stocks.
