- Sierra Space has conducted stress test of a full-scale inflatable space habitat. It exceeded NASA's safety levels by 27 percent, according to a release from Sierra Space.

Могу подсказать, что дальше. Дальше эти штуки могут заштопывать сами себя после удара микрометеорита. Допустим, там будет какой-нибудь каучук, который будет каким-то образом закрывать отверстие после попадания каких-то с высокоскоростных космических микро объектов. Так же туда можно поставить множество датчиков, чтобы они отслеживали целостность оболочки в разных секторах этого модуля. Если оболочка изношена, они предупредят, что модуль пора утилизировать.

Внутри этих штук должны работать роботы. Отличная мини-лаборатория или мини-фабрика. Особенно когда будут десятки таких надувных модулей на основе какой-то твёрдой несущей срединной модульной опоры. "Грозди винограда 🍇 на единой основе." там можно будет разместить огромное производство чего-либо разбросав по модулям производственные узлы. Конечно, я понимаю, что там не будут огромные объёмы производства, но уникальные товары в условиях микро-гравитации можно производить. И вполне возможно там либо совсем не будет людей, либо их будет человек 5. Люди очень требовательны к системам жизнеобеспечения станции, а роботы нет.

Can we integrate this technology with earthen mounds for natural insulation , right here on earth for the millions wanting a small home? I could see communities of starter homes for people to get off the streets and modulate to anywhere they want to grow to.

No. It’s a commercial program and NASA is not involved. However, the idea is that companies and government agencies, including NASA and the DoD, could rent space and time on the station.

the pressure under water is alot higher and more dangerous than the pressures sustained in the vacuum of space. please do your research before saying stuff like this. this technology has been being developed since i was a kid and I've watched multiple of inflatable modules be launched including the successful Bigelow module. cant wait for this to be accepted by NASA and the rest of the space community as this will make space stations SO MUCH BIGGER
@IcedDragon420 research? You assume I have no understanding of sea pressure vs a vacuum. Granted the pressure is not nearly as high ( negative pressure of course ) what -10 to 15 psi or so. But think about why the shuttle orbited backwards? Have you given any thought to that?
How do you think a blowup building will handle getting hit with a bullet size rock traveling 100s of thousands miles per hr?
The shuttle orbited backwards so the rear would be hit, rather than the crew compartment.
We need to figure out how to build in space, not reinvent the wheel.
Pressure is not the problem. The safety of those inside is.
