A Palm Springs-Inspired Mid-Century Modern Home Makeover

- After a trip to Palm Springs, designer and homeowner Leila Macdonald, principal at Schumacher Interior Designs Inc., was inspired to design a home with the mid-century modern aesthetic and lifestyle in mind. "We loved the concept of open-space living and started looking for a property that could accommodate a side split or bungalow," she says. One of her top priorities was to bring the outside in. See how she clad the walls and wood burning stone fireplace in the same Algonquin limestone as the exterior, and used texture, glazing and a neutral palette throughout. Don't miss the beautiful backyard with a sports court, outdoor entertaining zone and hot tub and pool.

I love when designers do their own houses. They're usually a level above what they would do for clients .This house is just perfect and that backyard has EVERYTHING yet is a manageable size.
This is such a beautiful and well executed home. I double back when the designer/owner said it was a new build. Incredible.
Wow that's definitely a no expense spared house
I love the exterior of the house
Excellent blending of MCM with contemporary life. Love seeing a Carlo Mollino desk in this setting. Wow.
We have been waiting for something not like the others...well done.Certainly a 'blast from the past' kinda vibe right down to the exterior and landscaping
Absolutely beautiful and well designed. This is the style of house I have always loved and I really enjoyed the tour.
If I could LIKE 👍🏽 this home a 100 times I would 😍 it’s so clean and simple yet colorful and beautiful. I’m so happy to see something other than sad beige mom 😜 that’s why I did my guest room bursting with colors
Ok that built in knife block and chopping board combo is low key my favourite thing. I haven't seen anything like that before!
Love this one, MCM is my favorite !
Wow that bulthaup kitchen ❤….. that by it self should 200k
Love everything about, open, bright, beautifully furnished. Wish I could afford something like it.
Powder bath is too weird for me.
This sums up everything I want in a home ❤ She did a fantastic job where it counts
This is what we call an incredible transformation. 😍🌿
Stunning! 😍
Love love love this
Beautiful home
I just love this channel 💚
A gorgeous home with interesting design concepts! ❤
This home is so calming, inside and out. I love it ! ❤
It's a mashup of mid-century modern in Frank Lloyd Wright
The mid mod is obvious and gorgeous. But I don’t see any FLW, really none of his concepts?
The exterior
This is my favourite home and presenter I’ve seen on this channel ever. Nice work
I’m not a fan of mid century decor but I really love the layout, design and appliances of this home.❤
Love the fireplace
GORGEOUS!
Love this home! Would change the kitchen but overall…love it
Gorgeous home!!
Watch guard of the neighborhood? Whoah. Brought back a bit more than an aesthetic sense from Palm Springs, I guess. But the location and landscaping are quite lovely.
Love it. Curious to know how they clean that built in cutting board!
This is Sweet!
Awesome house...top to bottom.
This is not a mid cen mod. It's an architectural contemporary with a dash of mcm elements
Цвета дружат потрясающе. Очень гармонично
❤
Rich peoples' home
That desk and chair 😍

Is this a Scavolini kitchen?
Took me too long to place your accent - it's Canada!
Jenna Phipps take notes!
Closer is partly backlit. It is better. Small details make a big difference.
Beautiful space. The central fireplace is a showstopper. Too much up-speak by the designer, though.
Also: what’s up with the music track for this video? The country banjo is definitely not keeping with the style and sophistication level of this home.
I really dislike the new trend of all these house tours having some kind of whitewash filter on them.. just show the house and interior as is.. no filters or weird color grading.
She did it right. She used only low furniture in the living room. Low furniture makes space bigger. And she did not use that much furniture. Actually furniture should take only 20 percent of the whole area. Not 80 like other designers are doing.
I would not call this "paired down" at all.
If she uses large format of limestone on the fireplace would be much more stylish.
It's mid century inspired. Large format would be a poor design decision
This is “not a Large kitchen?” Puleeze !!!! Terribly condescending to the average homeowner
Office isOK. Needs back lighting on the shelves. Electrician should hardwire before shelves installation
TV wall finish is already outdated and does not match the finish of the fireplace. Could be better.
Bedroom is just a bed. No need a designer for this.
It is not TV wall, it is some wall. I thought she would hang TV there
Entry steps-"Dr. Seuss"" wrong. Japanese. Living- "Minimal furniture"...yeah right. You literally cannot fit another single piece of furniture of any kind in that room.
Kitchen-"Although not large. Again...yeah right.
Dining room-"Focal point...floating console table". Wrong!...The focal point to the entire home is the fireplace....again...cramped, NARROW!
Primary Dressing Room-"Jewel". Oh really...what gemstone might that be?
Primary Bath-"Calm". Not achieved by using terrazzo, black and white slabs with thick veining.
This has to be Toronto...NARROW!! You all seem used to do it...even when you can build your own home!
The home and materials are very nice but I have a serious problem with people who think they're designers and architects. Your channel has a tendency of doing this.
I have a problem with your being overly critical.
@@carolarellano6396I have a problem with people that aren't critical about M's of $'s.
@@carolarellano6396 Like I said...I have a problem with people that spend M's and don't know what they're talking about.
Like I said I have a problem with your being over critical, and add to that your arrogance.
@@carolarellano6396 Than counter my points instead of attacking character on a public forum. Everybody's free to have their opinions. Opine my points Carol.
