I just learned a lot about situational awareness in my recent CCW class which used a USCCA textbook. It's my second time going through the process in my state, so hopefully I get my CCW this time

Awesome to see Travis here! I've been following him for a couple of years now. Like him, I switched from Glock to M&P and haven't' looked back. Great video!

IMO the best way to avoid a situation whether you are carrying concealed or not is to not let yourself get into one to begin with. This is especially important if you are carrying. IMO Part of being a responsible gun owner is not putting yourself in situations where you might have to use it.
I am a condition yellow type of person. I am always looking around just in case. I make eye contact with people who are around me. I make sure they notice that I am noticing them and aware that they are there. I don't stare at my phone while I'm walking around.
In fact, if I look and see a situation that I don't like, I might just hold off on walking through that area for a bit. Or if possible try to find another area where I don't have to go by whatever the situation is that I don't like.
If I'm in a restaurant or another public place, the first thing I do when I walk in there is look where the exits are and if possible I will try to sit where I am facing the entrances and close to an exit. If trouble does start I want to be able to clear out of there fast and protect myself and my family..
Trouble can happen anytime, anywhere and usually happens quickly. So don't help it happen by being one of those clueless people who walk around with their face stuck in their phone all the time. Totally unaware of the world around them.

12:35 i love the USCCA and smith and wesson but what you guys just mentioned about “paying attention to what people wear on a hot summer day” is kinda of iffy…why because i usually wear a hoodie and sweatpants year around doesn’t matter if it’s 100 degrees or 0 degrees im always wearing a hoodie black to be exact…yes i get alot of looks plus i do carry (legally) but i also use my hoodies and etc as a safety blanket for me idk i’ve had that since i was a kid and i’m 25 now

Don't get comfortable in "Transitional Spaces!" Your home driveway, any parking lots, etc.

Hello: Thank you for this fine video. I would like to respectfully suggest that Learning, practicing, and utilizing a "inner dialogue" should come before any of the information you provided. Commentary driving is an excellent way to develop an winner dialogue ie: talking through all the aspects of Situational Awareness you Cover.

Don't place yourself in places that you know are risky. Being out at night in any large city is an invitation to criminals.

Easiest, situational awareness, put the phone away have your car keys in your hand and walk straight to your car. That’s what I tell my wife.
