    I installed the blue dial assembly kit but was not aware of the need for a base valve assembly. Thank you for the details. I will look into ordering this now.

      Hey Luis, please let us know how the conversion works out - that would be great info. And good luck!

    Thanks! Just came home with my shiny new Stevo Comp and was very disappointed that it had a typical "OEM Spec" part that's 97% the same as the retail part, but has some dumb, inexpensive feature removed because..... well who knows why. Just spend the extra $3 at the factory and be done with it. I already sent an RFQ to Fox for the part numbers in your video. Why do companies punish their customers like this???

      Many congrats on the new bike! You’ll love it! Good luck with the conversion - would be very interested to know how it goes.

    Really nice video and super usefully!!! ❤
    Basically you remove the cap, point the cap without push it firmly for lock it like stock, turn the knob/cap and after the preferred setting, you re push the black knob/cap firmly ?
    And… how do you know the setting you set , when you start to rotate the knob?
    Thanks

    • @dizidoesdownhill
      @dizidoesdownhill  Před rokem

      Hey Andrea, thanks for checking out the video and the kind comments! You are right with your summary - pop off the cap, half push it down, turn the cap to your setting and then fully push it back down. The cap doesnt rotate unless its half off.
      I haven’t played with it for a while but i think the shaft has no stops between its highest and lowest settings. I’d take a photo when you initially take the cap off so you know the default. But its pretty obvious when you have the lowest setting and highest setting at it clearly changes how the shock behaves if you put some weight.
      Have fun with it!

      @@dizidoesdownhill thanks 🙏 but it’s a nosense from specialized to do this thing… I wonder why?!

    • @dizidoesdownhill

      Totally agree Andrea - I guess its just product differentiation but feels pretty miserly.

    Interesting, so the Float X Performance actually has more adjustment than we thought. And $80 in parts is all that's needed to make it not janky? Wild...

    • @dizidoesdownhill
      @dizidoesdownhill  Před rokem +1

      Thanks for checking out the video. Yeah seems annoying that they engineered in some limitations just to differentiate the product. The initial production cost difference must be negligible.

    how do you use it if you have the cap could you just turn it and it would work as if you had the actual dial or do you have to do something else?

    • @dizidoesdownhill
      @dizidoesdownhill  Před rokem +3

      Hi Jetcam. You need to lever the black cap off and then partially push it down onto the shaft. This allows you to turn the shaft in 4 detent positions. Once you’ve chosen the damping setting you want, press the cap firmly back into it place. The cap/shaft will not rotate unless the cap is partially removed. Thanks for checking out the video.

    Did you end up ordering these parts and putting them on the shock? Curious how easy/difficult it is and if you thing it’s worth it

    • @dizidoesdownhill
      @dizidoesdownhill  Před rokem +1

      Hey FlippinEli, thanks for checking out the video. We did not upgrade the shock. There’s definitely some compression damping available as it stands and the shock seems to work well with the bike currently.

      I installed the blue dial LSC kit. Very easy to do with some patience. Once the shock needs a service I will look into the vase valve. I was not aware of that one

      Hey Flash, I think you're totally right! It was a fun little project to understand the shock a bit better but it seems Specialized has it set up pretty well for a wide range of people. Thanks for checking out the video and taking the time to comment.

    What was the stock lsc setting set by specialized?

    • @dizidoesdownhill
      @dizidoesdownhill  Před rokem +1

      Hi Skymugen, if i recall correctly, the stock shock compression damping on the Comp Alloy is set wide open.

      @@dizidoesdownhill Stock setting on my bike was middle position. I installed blue adjustable dial and can feel a difference in low speed compression. The adjustment range seems to work well and I don't feel the need to change the base valve. The new range is wide enough for my riding.
