How confident are you? 😅
Not very ( also first reply)
Confidence: 20
Skill level: 70
LIFE: 💯
GUITAR: 0
I'm probably 80 Confidence and 70 - 75 skill
@Zerfix24 very true
You know you've made it when you no longer need to go to the store to shoot store scenes.
Well he certainly made a collection of guitars.
He appears to have more guitars than an actual local guitar store. Thanks for the entertaining videos, Tyler!
I was going to say the same thing!
HELLO
That or your rich 😂
The fact that Tyler has enough guitars to actually portray his own collection as a guitar store amazes me.
he fr has more guitars than my local store does 😂
Or that he has a guitar in at least one bathroom in his house so he can practice while dumping out.
HELLO
I know right? Let’s go on through the kitchen to my guitar center lol
He’s that guy that’ll never be sure why we like him… could be he’s just a great guy, could be his gear. We won’t know until he hits hard times and pairs it down to a squire tele and a first act acoustic to know what kind of person he really is. Lolol
i feel like the 100/100 guy and the 1/1 guy would actually get along really well
As a former guitar store employee, I can affirm that this video is 100/100 accurate.
My biggest surprise at a GC store was the day I walked in and there were 3 customers playing beautiful chord melody arrangements with no one shredding.
The cranking the amp and then fumbling the chord while plugging it into the sg was hilarious. That smile right before lol

@@melodyS88 reported that bastard. Weather or not CZcams does anything about it is still up in the air.
Would be interesting a video to help "entry level" players to choose a guitar in a shop. For example, what to check in a guitar (to be sure at least that the guitar is in a good shape), proper way to check it, and any suggestion to help us grasp and explore the differences between two guitars of the same model. All of this...without annoying people around or the stuff 😅 Thanks anyway Tyler!
Hi
He already made a video called the best beginner guitar
Phillip Mcknight already made that video, and he has a downloadable spread sheet that lists everything you should check, and they're in order of importance. In other words, the stuff at the top of the list are deal breakers- the stuff at the bottom are things you could change afterwards if you wanted.
@@nekilikizhrvatske3336 Yes, I saw it. Great video and it helped. However, I wonder if there is more that can be added for us noobie. Especially when trying to compare two guitars of the same brand and model.
@@stoneysdead689 Thanks! I will check it out. Already following Phillip, he is another great youtuber.
I started playing acoustic when I was 5 and electric when I was 17 (I'm 24 now). I walk in the acoustic room like I'm a share holder, completely confident. But.... when I pull a Strat off the wall and turn towards the amps, I freeze as though I've seen a dead body instead of a Deluxe Reverb.
HELLO
Oh dude that’s so me haha. I resorted to playing unplugged. Hha
@@brandongurganus7387 We'll get there in due time haha

Dequip your picking method and switch to alternate pick when you enter musical exchanges, way better at charisma levels. Only keep solo hands equipped when you are in a 15+ mana environment, if alternative pick is unavailable in some lands smoke on the water is available, the crippling blow effect can usually allow you to pass the area.... be warned though as smoke on the water can reduce charisma and intelligence if used in a hostile controlled environment.
Okay, what I‘ve learned is I‘m on skill-level 50 playing the minor-pentatonic all day long just the way you did.. YES!
Hi

@@melodyS88 I thought so.. Thanks for warning!
Same here except I mainly use the full minor scale and harmonic minor. And high gain with reverb and delay. Makes simple single note lines sound so good.
I remember the first time I gained the confidence to pick a guitar up at a store for the first time. Plugged in the les paul, sat down nice and comfy and boom…forgot every song I learned and how to play 😂
That telegram guy is a scammer impersonating the channel owner.
I’ve started off with an 8 year old acoustic a year ago, about 5 months ish in my 15th birthday, I got to play and electric guitar for the first time, I also forgot everything I learned, it was also the first introduction to amps, I didn’t even knew how to control them lol
3:08 is so hilarious! The look on his face right before plugging in the "live" cable!
Man I totally relate to this. Every time you go to a guitar shop someone there is just shredding hard, pulling off sweeps and triplicates, super fast solos, and you just say “I can’t play around this guy! I was spoiled when I first started playing guitar. I was a huge Metallica fan and wanted an ESP. At the time where I lived (Colorado, 1999) there weren’t any Guitar Centers I knew of, and you could only buy ESP’s at one store in a Denver suburb. It’s a locally famous shop for shredders and drummers. I just walked in heard all the people playing screeching solos, and the salesman helped me locate the model and color I wanted and hooked it up to an amp and said “go ahead and play around, try it out!” I played like a strum of all open strings and went “yep this is it! This is what I want!” And we bought it and got the hell out of there!
I appreciate the little pep talk at the end of video. I’m at a low right now in my playing.
This reminds me of the first time I played a guitar in a store, I was in Nashville 3 months ago and went to that guitar center, nothing gets the nerves going like your first time playing in front of people (if anyone happened to notice) and playing a guitar more expensive than any other that you’ve ever played. My hands were shaking so bad that soloing was damn near impossible so I had to resort to my beginner riffs.

You'll get more confident in a guitar store as time passes
Are we not going to talk about the fact that Tyler has a bass guitar hung in his bathroom-
We don't talk about that

you dont shred and dump?
For the longest time I wouldn’t even plug into an amp when I went into a store. Always had too much anxiety. Now I’ll throw an amp on 3 because I still get nervous, but it’s going away. Music is supposed to be fun, I think a lot of people forget that.

I love this guy. A good bit of humor for an early Monday morning.

@@melodyS88 A similar scam to this is showing up on a lot of CZcams videos lately.
Great video.
As a Southpaw, finding a bass or guitar to play, is the most difficult part of being at a guitar store.
I visited three stores today. Two had zero, one had two (and very boring ones), so I didn't even feel like trying them, I wouldn't consider buying them anyway in any case, so...
But I need to go back for one guitar though, an old 70''s Japanese Strat, not a well-known brand (Condor) but I really, really liked the neck. I don't have any SSS guitar yet (just 2x HH and 1x HSH).
hello
I love how he has so many guitars he can just film in his house for a skit, in a guitar shop
with the 1/1's it's all about breaking the ice. I don't work at a music shop but the guys there know me fairly well. I try to engage the 1s with what interests they have or gauge the expectation. it's all about encouragement to pursue the dream
Thank you SO MUCH for bringing back these skits! Please do more! My confidence level is probably like 25 or maybe more.
You should try to play lefthanded. Would be a fun video!:D
I agree, it could even become a series, like Tyler start playing lefthanded and show the evolution process
You need a video where all the " your playing that wrong, let me show you how to play it correctly."players show up at the store at the same time. Throw in one rookie overwhelmed by it all and Todd. Don't forget Todd!
Whoa, that outro music is sick. Your album is gonna be killer, man.
Can't wait!!
Just got myself a new guitar last week and I was so glad the store had a soundproof booth to try it out....
3:13 How I think I'm like in a guitar store...
1:07 How I'm actually like in a guitar store...
😄😄😄
BTW that's a hell of a collection you got there, good sir 😊
Spot on! Another good scenario is the band member who won't stop noodling around when you need quiet to tune your instrument.
I am both proud and ashamed to admit that I have gone through all these phases
"he's really going for it" best quote
1/1 was me 2 weeks ago. Took me two visits to Guitar Center then a visit to an awesome small local store to feel comfortable. Picked up an awesome classic vibe tele and playing every day. Just go for it!
This was relatable. I started out as a 1/1 and could barely speak to the seemingly cool looking store guys. Then the first one set me up on a real loud amp and I didn't know what to play. And the guitar was out of tune. At least I didn't (know how to) play any of the annoying songs people always do in guitar stores.
They were friendly people too, always saying hi, and calling me Bass VI guy, since that's what I bought from there (plus a ton of strings and picks.) When you know what you need out of a guitar store, it's a lot less daunting. Getting guitars fixed or setup was also a nice way of sharing some of the cool aspects of my guitars with people who seemed like they appreciated them, like artwork or just a nicely made expensive guitar.
Hope your amp is OK, when I saw that light go out I thought it might not be planned :o Hopefully just some protection circuit and a cooldown?
HELLO

@@melodyS88 They're on every channel, even the really small ones with less than 10k subscribers.
How do you like the Bass VI? I’ve got one ordered that’ll be coming in a week or two. Sold a Keith Urban Les Paul clone and an Ibanez acoustic bass to afford it.
@@thecheeseman31415 Loved it. I always had a guitar, but couldn't really get the proper feel for it, and found bass easier to get into. The Bass VI feels like it bridges that gap into guitar, and I had a lot of fun coming up with riffs on it. The strings weren't as massive as the ones on my other 6 string bass, so easier to play. They're spaced close enough to use a pick if you want, or finger pick nice and comfortably. Feels a little like an acoustic in that regard. It just felt right to me, and though I've since moved onto guitar as my main instrument, I credit the Bass VI with helping me get there by being a really good mix of bass and guitar in one instrument, similar enough to both to let me transition my skills, yet still has it's own unique sound.
You forgot one:
Confidence: 100
Skill level: sweet child o' mine
You forgot the

I also love that Explorer you had hanging in the back!
Nice. I tried a fender mexican strat for lefty in a music store in Dublin during a school trip. First time trying a guitar in a store without buying it. Felt amazing. 😊
This video taught me that my skill level is below 50
When it cut to the guy plunging while “0 skill” guy was ripping was just peak cinema
My confidence is like a 50 and my skill, apparently/according to everyone else, my skill is about a 30 something maybe. I’ve been playing guitar for about a year and music just clicks where other things don’t. Just something about how the strings are laid out on the fretboard just calms me and is so easy to understand. Thanks for the inspiration to keep growing as a musician
First!
Also, I go to a guitar store and promptly forget all I know on guitar.
man's got so many guitars that his studio looks like a guitar store
Can you do a video where you show the different types of child music students? Like - the one who never practices, the one who is a prodigy, the one who practices every day but isn't making progress?
Heyo, fantastic video. How about a skit with different guitarist reactions when having to play on backline gear for the first time. The "No way, I can't play without MY tone!" guitarist and "The one that rolls with the punches", "The one who has no ideas about how festivals work" or "The one willing to fight over it" or "The constant complainer". Thanks for sharing, had a lot of fun watching this one. Great stuff!
I've been playing guitar since I was 3 and I'm 20 now... I still feel like- CL 1 SL 1
This is so freaking funny, i laughed so much just after getting robbed. The guy took my cars speakers. Thanks for the joy man
This gave me the confidence to go into guitar center and play hey bulldog
That skill level 50 score was pretty generous.
I'm just happy the SG is getting appreciated n this one video.
so glad the comedy returned, all us guitarists understand it!

The end of that really reminded me of a Daniel Thrasher skit😂!
Having worked in two different Guitar Centers and a variety of other chains, there is a lot of truth here. 😁
HI
@@courtneyoneillviolin Hi. I always wanted to learn violin. But mastery of guitar has always distracted me from other instruments.
Just went in and played for the first time into a guitar store to actually play because I just wanted to try out different necks ended up buying a guitar I didn't really expect to buy

I’m definitely skill 1 confidence 1. Wanted to check out a local Sam Ash but felt so intimidated I bought a guitar cable I didn’t need and left.😂
This video was so good. I'm the I don't want anyone to hear me play guy bahaha
Wow! New song sounds great! How about, "What your clothes say about you as a guitarist" or "First Day at Music School" or "What your dog is actually thinking about your playing".
Do a video imagining the different companies as ppl. Give each company a unique personality based on their reputations.
This man is one of the few people to inspire me to play guitar more, including starting a band. Thank you

My confidence is in the negatives. Went into a guitar center for the first time a few weeks ago and was absolutely TERRIFIED of bumping or nicking the guitar i was holding (at the time i didn't know how heavy electrics were since i'm learning on an acoustic) And when an employee hooked it to an amp, no sound was playing and i was kinda relieved. But seeing someone there around my age absolutely shredding made my confidence drop even lower, lmfao. Won't stop me from coming back or practicing though, 👍
when your local guitar shop is Guitar Center. and my luxury music shop consist in one room
I miss your skits man, it’s what brought me to your channel! You should think about doing one like, What happens when a vanilla guitar player picks up something exotic! Interpret that how you like, just something I thought would be funny!
video idea: “A Typical Saturday At Guitar Center” and you could do some wacky stereotypes that you haven’t done before (if any) for example: “The bass player with way too much volume who has no idea what he’s doing” or “The guy who says he likes grunge and only plays Nirvana” i think that would be a super fun video, thanks man!
And then there is the guy with confidence level 1 but skill level 10000000000000
Hey Tyler, when can I come over to YOUR guitar store 🤣
As someone who started working at a music store, I wish people would not treat these places as a jam space. I totally encourage anyone to play a guitar before buying one but if you're there when I leave for my lunch and are still there when I come back... bro come on 😮💨
How about you extending your lunch break instead of limiting our jam time? A guitar store is like a public library. Not our fault that the store owner made terrible business decisions by displaying guitars openly.
@@dan_kay I disagree on your library statement but totally agree that a music store is meant to be enjoyed for what it is. I would never want to rob someone of the experience of jamming that guitar they can't afford but are able to play. That being said, this is a small scale shop with lesson rooms for kids less than 10 ft. from the guitars. I don't care what people play, it's the volume and duration. Just because there's a 10 on the knob doesn't mean you have to play at 10 for 30+ minutes straight.
Great video! Absolutely hilarious! Even had my dog laughing 🤣! What really makes this so humorous is how accurate it actually is. I've been playing guitar since 1987. I've seriously seen all of these types and more...
He’s going for it!
Thank you sir! That was fun!
Would still like to see SRV
firing double trouble, and going with a jazz rhythm section.
I was eating and I swear I choked on my food at 3:09 ,that is basically all of my friends when we go to a guitar shop...its so accurate
Lmao the confident guy with the fumbling cord was hilarious 😂
Hi
I was too nervous to go in and buy strings and I winder, so I ordered them online. Bought an acoustic like 12 years ago and figured I would finally start learning. Hope 33 isn't too old
Trust me, you are not too old to learn and it is indeed still worth it to start now. It's quite fun, and more so when you are doing it for your own enjoyment, sans any type of outside pressure or timelines. Good luck, have fun and enjoy yourself.
@@jenraider72 thanks, I'll try to
Hey The best pick I have ever used is a blue chip pick. They are like 40 dollars and made out of the same stuff they send to space. I would love to see you review one. Love the content and you are such a great inspiration
this video is so well put together
Just remember everyone had to start somewhere and they got out of it what they put into it. From my experience the best players tend to be the most humble people and have no problem giving you tips and tricks to help you improve. The biggest thing is no matter what you’ll always be your biggest critic so go easy on yourself!
THE SOUND OF THE CABLE PLUGGING IN ON 100/1
I was okay trying out guitars and pedals at my local shop when I was a kid and learning 25 years ago, but now, “I’ll just buy this online.”
Then there were the two guys that walked in, grabbed two ESPs, plugged in to two amps, and just nailed the entirety of “Sanitarium”, bought both guitars and amps, and we never saw them again. 🤷♂️
I always bring my nice headphones. There's always 2-3 people playing loudly at different levels.
I played a guitar in a guitar store for the first time since I've been playing for like 20 years, was scared shitless at first, but in the end ended up trying a few guitars and walking out with a G&L Tribute Legacy, wish I walked out with the amp I was using too, though :(
As someone looking to purchase their first guitar, the Confidence 1, Skill 1 guy is on point. God, what if someone sees me touch a guitar💀
Shopping for your pedals, and how choosing evolves over experience. From the DOD Grunge to the Klon.
Great skit!! Please do more. Another good confidence one could be playing a bar gig.
Also how about everywhere you go, work party, family gathering, et. Someone hands you a guitar like we are walking minstrels.
I seriously hate that.
My blessing, my curse...lol
Feeling confident is the most freeing thing about playing an instrument, or probably anything else in life…but I haven’t learned that lesson yet.
Newbies, just tune up. Everything else is understood. We’ve all been where you are. We all still remember, and feel it. Just tune the fucking thing.
The 100 confidence 1 skill reminds me of Johnny Depp in the commercials lmao
I think confidence is the key to success in anything you do I’m a barber and having that confidence in what you’re doing is number one without it you’re going to hesitate you’re going to doubt yourself and you’re not gonna do as good as you could
As a new player with anxiety, 1 confidence and 1 skill is exactly me. I've been to a guitar store once, I got picks, because I broke my only pick, and I left. Haven't been back since.
order a bag of those suckers online
I have a laughing/crying fit at the aftermath of the skill level 1 , confidence level is 100 guy. This has to be my favourite guitar video
Would love to see more videos like these. I love your skit videos man! Would love to see some Jared Dine esc stuff. I feel like you'd do some good takes on that style. Kinda like the "Guitarists on drugs video." Where it's just different kinds of guitarists being exaggerated to their fullest.
3:40 Oh cool, My Bloody Valentine has a new song out.
Signs you might have GAS.... you make a video of people in a guitar store, but the store is actually your home.
I've been playing guitar for almost 20 years, and I have spent tons of hours trying different gear over the years. I still get self conscious when I'm there.
