What are your thoughts on headless guitars?
They be fantastic
I think they’re really creative and i guess they save space, lol.
I think theyre super cool and ive always wanted one i dont know if there are any upsides or downsides to them but itd be cool to have one
I'm torn on them; they look cool and light, but I also just like a cool headstock. I think I'd have to test play them more. Congrats on the purchase all the same!
I would love to own one
I thought that would have a waaaay higher price tag. Considering the high degree of customization, Kiesel's prices are actually really reasonable.
Another reason why I got a custom from them lol. I love mine. They are truly works of art!
$3k lmao??
@@TheCatalystOS its WAAYYYY cheaper than their competition
@@TheCatalystOS Yeah for what you get, that's a steal
@@thegrandyata but u can get a prestige for under 3k
Headless guitars always did look fascinating to me, and not just aesthetically. I've yet to try a headless guitar, but I have tried a headless bass before, and the feel of the instrument, gears, knobs, and tones that I was able to generate were unlike anything I tried before.
Earth guitars has a pretty inexpensive headless model that sounds and feels pretty neat, I'd recommend trying it out
That might be the sweetest Kiesel I've seen yet. Sounds nice too.
I've owned a Steinberger GM4T for almost 30 years. It is great to see headless guitars finally become more accepted and even desired.
As an luthier I can easily say that on the constructive side it gives a lot of advantages
@@steffomca762 Like?
I've owned a Steinberger GM2T for about 15 years in black with white binding. I've yet to see another just like it.. I bought it when it was "just" affordable. Amazing piece of engineering. So stable, well balanced, and the tone cuts through any mix.
Damn, this is so frustrating!! I’m on vacation currently and the data/wifi is so terrrrrrible, so I can’t fully watch the video. I’ve been looking forward to this one since we spoke about it. Hopefully when I get back to the hotel I’ll get to watch it, hope you love the guitar and thank you so much for the tag 👍🏻
Cheers!
Thomas
Coffee shop WiFi FTW lol. How sick did that turn out! Awesome guitar and video, congrats mate 😎👌🏻
@@McRocklin great development throughout the story.
Enticing beginning, interesting conflict, and even a satisfying conclusion.
I once had a Carvin (as they were called then) five string, headless, neck through bass. Its been 25+ years and I still miss it and hate myself for selling it. It's the finest instrument I've ever owned.
I love headless guitars, they're compact, light and wonderfully balanced. Still have a couple.
I have a Carvin Icon 5 string bass and it's amazing, I'd never sell it!
I hope you get another one some day 🤞
Just received my first Kiesel two weeks ago also using the virtual builder. I'm blown away, the look is dead on compared to the site, and the playability is magic.
I was questioning the gold frets but when you got it for real they work so well, its like a signature guitar
Chris is one of my favorite people in the industry. Such a great dude and I’m glad he was able to help you bring this beauty to life!
It's fun making guitars I can't afford on there :)
Lol.. yup, I hear ya. I go on there often, it's like a drug.. dreaming of "one day" :)
Was never a fan of headless guitars and a few choices you made I was yelling at the screen to choose the other options.... but once I saw the final product it looks unreal. I bet that thing shreds for days! Very cool video as always.
That is one of the coolest guitars I have ever seen! Kiesel makes some amazing looking and sounding guitars
Love the Keisel custom build beta. Legitimately good design and user interface. Only recommendation is adding more information to pickup selection segment. Let us know output, suggested music styles or maybe even add sound samples. Excellent job Keisel.
It's funny seeing how many people have this passionate hatred for headless guitars like chill out who hurt you?
Honestly I'd love to give a keisel a try some day they seem like they're insanely well built and look stunning when finished
Back off, man. I walked in on my girlfriend in a 3 way with a Steinberger and a Keytar in the 80s and I never got over it, okay?
@@myfinalcut I’m so sorry to hear that
I love Kiesel. I currently have 10 with 3 of them being headless (2 Osiris and 1 Zeus). While I haven't stopped liking and buying guitars with headstocks I really love headless for weight, compact footprint, and tuning stability. My last one I built for a workhorse: Osiris, gloss finish, 5p neck, multiscale. I can grab it and go and take it anywhere with ease and it is rock solid.
Dude, that looks and sounds awesome! Stoked for you! I have six of them and love them. Chris is such a cool person to work with.
Absolutely loved this vid, it made my day. Kisel absolutely killed it, really exited to see how you guys can work to together moving forward I’m the future.
Did you know that Kiesel recently had some of their basses almost stolen?
It was a headache with the shady holiday express inn in Richmond, Vermont…
But to cut to the chase: if people want to steal your products, you must be making something good.
Man you and Tim Pierce are my favorite guitar players on CZcams. Thanks for what you do.
Congrats Tyler, my wife just purchased the Strandberg Guitar I have gas my eye on for the last two years. I’m excited. Got a whole 8 days before I get it!
Gotta tell you, I own 25 guitars and haven’t played any of them live since I got my first headless kiesel 2 years ago. I have custom ordered another zeus too and she should be here anytime now. My most comfortable guitar to play live ever
I love specifically the neck grain pattern, extending right out of the body like that. Whoever chose that neck in the shop is the real mvp.
I just got my first Kiesel a couple of months ago and I love it! I already have two more that are currently being built lol. I had the same issue with the moon at the 12th fret on mine but eventually got used to it. Great choice on the specs!
It's so awesome you get to do this. And share it with all of us!
If you like building guitars this way, then maybe take a look at Balaguer Guitars. They also have a builder and for a custom guitar they're not crazy expensive.
Had a friend order a guitar from them and it took nearly 9 MONTHS to get his guitar. Communication was iffy as well but he is happy with the guitar.
Certainly less chance of neck dive! I have an original Transtrem Steinberger - the “cricket bat” shape - from the eighties and it’s incredibly
comfortable to play. Also great to have the tuners at the bridge end.
I have a headless Delos and it's so light (6 lbs) and so compact that I find myself playing it more than anything else. Also the workmanship is impeccable and it holds tune incredibly well. Would buy again.
What an awesome design. Kiesel knocks it out of the park yet again. Congratulations!
That guitar looks sick! I think the purpleheart ECC makes it so unique! And holy crap does it sound amazing!
I honestly love headless guitars. What got me into playing guitar was watching VH's Live Without a Net, & seeing Eddie playing his Steinberger was so mindblowing. When I first saw headless guitars becoming more popular a few years ago I was instantly hooked. I've now got 3 & I honestly can't get over how much more ergonomic they are to play.
Have to say Tyler, I've never been much of a headless guitar guy but this is one cool axe man! And you're so correct, EVERY major manufacturer should be doing this!!! Kiesel has set the bar!!! Now let's see if the majors catch up!
God bless you and Kiesel for such an awesome video, very mind blowing
MAN that is a beautiful guitar. I seriously want to try doing a custom shop esp order sometime as well.
Don't have a Kiesel headless yet, but I do have a GOC Materia headless and I pick it up more than any of my other guitars.
Love the color combo! Great choice!
Thank you for making this video. I've been curious how a finished guitar from their guitar builder tool looks, and it looks sick!
I own 4 headless multiscale Kiesel’s. Each one is amazing. I recently got a HK and it’s mind blowing. I love using off menu woods. The Mastergrade Ziricote is my favorite followed by Quilted black limba and flamed Koa.
How do you select off menu wood's? Call Kiesel?
@@Ethancr1432 you call them.
My main guitar is a Kiesel HH2. I travel for a living, and I always practice guitar in hotel rooms. I had the HH2 chambered, so it weighs 4 pounds. The fact that it’s headless means that it fits into any airplane overhead bin, but I still have a full sized, incredibly well built guitar, instead of some crappy travel guitar.
Kiesel makes great stuff! I’ve had a Zeus 6 for a while now and its been my staple of metal playing.
Nice to see some love for Jeff and Kiesel. Been a fan for a long time. All made right here in Escondido Ca. Go by the shop if you can.
not usually a green fan but the green on that guitar is stunning 😍
This video inspired me to finally hit that purchase button on my Kiesel guitar. Well a couple days ago I finally got mine, and then this video popped back up in my recommended. Absolutely loving my kiesel!!!
I have a couple of Strandbergs...love the headless design, the ergonomics and the weight (or lack thereof!). Kiesel makes a beautiful guitar and the configurator is so cool.
Turned out awesome. Interested to hear it's versatility, definitely some sick tones from the short demo
After watching this, I had to go build one for myself. I picked the Holdsworth signature model (complete with his signature pickups). I never would've thought to pick gold frets until I saw this video, but of course I had to add them in! Now if I just had a few grand lying around...
Since the mid-00s, I've always wanted a custom-made Kiesel guitar (back when they were under the name Carvin). Currently I have my heart set on an Aries 8-string with fanned frets. One day, I'll get one!
I’ve never even really understood the 7-string guitar besides playing like Korn riffs, why would you ever need 8 strings? Six is perfect.
@@piercehubbard4086 Well, it depends, alot of death metal, deathcore, and metalcore is played on 7s and 8s, 6s too, but more strings allows for wider tuning ranges and the opportunity to heavier if you wanted to, so if you look at it from that perspective it would make sense to get an extended range guitar over a standard 6 string, ofc you could also get a 6 string baritone, but not many companies make baritones anymore, not that I know if at least, cos I reaaalllyy want one so badly
@@ronaldvanas9492 - I get it, I’m sure it’s great for really fast, heavy, heavy, heavy rhythm playing. I can’t even imagine trying to pull off sweep picking with a neck so wide, but I assume it’s not really much for lead playing? I think of guys like Alexi Laihou from Children of Bodom (RIP I still can’t believe he died and I didn’t know for months, drugs and alcohol man - they destroy you), he is an insane shredder and plays some super heavy rhythm, but always on a six string Jackson that I’ve noticed. Most of their songs are like tuned down a whole step though. Have you seen the new commercial for the new Jackson Soloist Series? Pretty sick!
I ordered a CT6 way back when I graduated college and the company was still known as Carvin. 15 years later it's still my go-to guitar and plays like a dream. Watching your excitement with the new axe makes me wanna order another Kiesel/Carvin. Congrats on the gorgeous music machine!

The green/black/natural combo is absolutely fantastic looking.
One of my guitar teachers had a Steinberger, the one with a traditional body shape. He let me try it once, it felt weird not having a headstock.
It can be disorienting, but you get used to it. Then you go back to a guitar with a head and you get disoriented again! I've had my Steinberger for 25 years and I love it. It is extremely handy for lightweight gigging.
@@kennybissettsongs I have a GL4TA (lefty) I only play it occasionally, and for the first 5mins I tend to play two frets up, it's quite strange, your mind turns the end of the fretboard into a headstock 😯
Wow I wish the fender mod shop was as good as Keisel, fenders mod shop is kinda limited
Great video!
Very nice guitar!
Awesome playing!
Fender is stuck in the past
@@colbytaylor9805 good point
I love this site already. May not be able to afford one right off the bat, but the idea of customizing your own guitar is awesome!!!
My girlfriend bought me a Steinberger Gt-Pro after doing some housework a while back; and I absolutely LOVE it! The only upgrade I'm even considering is a new bridge pickup thats more metal oriented; the lightness of the body was a little bit weird at first because I tend to be a little heavy handed in my picking hand but playing the Steinberger kind of keeps me aware of everything.
he's entered his math rock phase
Ya know, sometimes videos like this make me wonder…
Kiesels are fantastic guitars, and it’s so much fun to design your own instrument. Highly recommended!
That thing is sick. I would have gone for SS frets, but im glad you got what you wanted.
Beautiful.
that backplate cover was a terrible choice
Nuh uh
Another great video 👍🏻
Ordered a Vader also headless in Jan 2022 and received it 5 months later. Buck-eye Burl for the top and paid extra for the 'Jeff Kiesel' select pick and this guitar is absolutely stunning! Very happy with paying $ for a great guitar and receiving a guitar that even exceeded my hopes.
Ok, this just makes me wanna get a Kiesel guitar! Your guitar choice is awesome my friend!
I love Thomas!!! Was definitely stoked to see you two interact!!!
Nice choices... Looks bangin'
Cool demo of the build process and amazing guitar. Your style choices are certainly unique to you but I love the options! :) Good note on the inlay.

Very cool! Love all of the available options. Purple Heart cavity cover 👌🏼
Love Kiesel, especially the Zeus headless 🤘 great specs !
Love their products! Everyone is a custom shop guitar. And the price isn’t out of bounds. I have a carvin that’s insanely beautiful and plays amazing
The guitar looks sick. Congratulations to you.
Duuuuuuude that guitar is sick. Amazing design choices.
best content ever dude. cheers
Amazing! So cool! Headless guitars are blowing up. I have a Strobel Rambler I call the bullpup that i bring to my job with a laney lionheart mini. It's small enough not to intimidate anyone at the workplace.
I have a 1990 headless Washburn Status bass. Freakin’ awesome. Makes strings changes effortless, too.
I love Kiesel guitars and I’ve always been interested in headless guitars and I think Kiesel makes some of the best headless guitars out there.
Just ordered my Kiesel and should be here in 13 weeks :) I didn't use the builder though. I saw a model on their website and called them up and asked them to make one like I saw in the picture.
Awesome build💥
Whoa! That looks sick!
I installed gold frets on my strat kit I built from stewmac a few years back, I absolutely love the feel of the gold frets and am having to stop myself from re-fretting my other guitars with gold frets.
Dean and Tobi from Archspire are interesting endorsed players in that, while both eight string guitars, they took different paths aesthetically...and both, imo, represent Kiesel brilliantly...congrats on a gorgeous instrument!
That’s So Nice!
Sounds So Good!
That finish is amazing!

This makes me want a Kiesel so so much!
Looks very good. I tried to create my 7-string Zeus on the website few weeks ago with some doubt that the final product is gonna be ok or not, but after I saw your video I think I will have a good one even it may take me so much money and so much time to send it from USA to Thailand (damn tax)
I go on the Kiesel guitar builder and just dream of guitars. You can build so many cool guitars on that thing. It's a shame I can't afford one yet! But someday I know I will be able to get one. Just gotta save for a few years.
Beautiful guitar and super nice interface.
It looks and sounds frickin SICK
I ordered my first custom Carvin guitar over 30-years ago w/ a Carvin Nomad 1x12 50 watt tube amp. Since then, 2 more custom Carvin guitars, another custom Nomad and last year Kiesel Holdsworth headless guitar. The build quality is beyond compare. Anyone who has never handled or played a custom Carvin or Kiesel has no idea. Selling direct cuts out the distributor, local music retailer and the multiple shippers, and inventories which means huge cost savings to the customer. The online guitar builder is an incredible tool which we didn't have with Carvin. It is great to see MUSIC IS WIN featuring Kiesel.
That's cool man! I've always have a problem in choosing the headstock i want in my guitar, so few years ago i tried to buy headless travel guitar, since then, i never able to go back to guitar with head. Currently, i am building my next headless guitar, by local luthier...
Kiesels are the PRS of the future. I have many PRS for sale now. Im so glad these companies are giving out guitars to people Ive never heard of.
Beautiful!!
You, man of culture. That guitar looks sickkk
ive never really been a fan of headless guitars but making your own guitar sounds like fun and the one you came up with is fucking gorgeous. the only thing that threw me off is exactly what you mentioned, the moon going across three frets was the first thing i said to myself would mess me up cause i wasnt sure which one was the 12th but other than that you made me a fan of kiesel and i might have to get one myself
Thanks, had a good mess about on the builders app,
GREAT FUN!!!!!
a 1985 Gibson explorer is my favorite guitar, that one on the on the wall is awesome
I bought a Carvin over 20 years ago off their website before Keisel bought them out. Their website was just a intuitive back then. Once I settled on what I wanted, I was able to call and speak to them personally. Great guitar.
Your best are by far!
Good stuff right there now. Coolness
My first headless was a new Steinberger L, purchased new in the '80s not far from where Ned was making them. I still have my original Steinberger L bass, and a few Synapse guitars (2 in matte black, one in gloss white) which are lighter, play great and sound nearly identical to my originals, without the cost (all with EMGs).
The Kiesel Holdsworth, chambered, is at the top of my guitar list.
I love my Kiesel!! I have a Vader 6 that I built and it plays like a dream
That looks fun!
Man I wish I could have helped you design that bad boy. I've built and own 2 kiesels so far. Their new guitar builder is sick!
Sick guitar! I want one! Excellent Kiesel Commercial! I want a Lambo guitar too ,or at least another one!
