Is one of the aspects of the game that you don't progress parallel to history? Instead of moving from ancient into classical, your choices in ancient might land you in something different?
Age of Aether is pretty fun. A Steampunk timeline keeps that old dream of Steampunk aesthetics alive in my heart.

Judging by the fact that the Conquistador had a Winchester Rifle, Kyle wasn't the first time traveler he had met.
Or he met a different Kyle
@@GiveMeMyLunchMoney Likely he had already met the same Kyle or had been influenced by Kyle's actions when that Kyle had realized one of his many mistakes and gone back repeatedly to try and fix it. Aka the Winchester is probably a result of a jump back in time Kyle did AFTER it's established that things got worse (after from Kyle's perspective of the timeline, but before they had even met for that soldier's perspective). Isn't time travel fun? :)

Skipping over the Age of Blood with no explanation at all is a classic Kyle-ism. Loved it.
"There were barbarians." does seem a decent summary of large swaths of this game.
Depends on your playstyle. One game I went full military and by age 4 I had all the barbs on my continent dead. A different game I am going heavy engineering and barely bothered with fighting, as a result there seem to be a lot running around unchecked. I suspect the AI is bad about removing barb camps.
The fact that Kyle doesn't age and always looks exactly the same is fast becoming an incredibly useful resource.

Glad to see we are getting back on track. We have seen a NKE (Non Kyle Entity), time travel is happing, and this has the feel of the classic door monster weekly videos everybody watches.
Also plot twist the coffee is actually fairly bad. But nobody notices because all coffee is slightly more terrible.

Can't believe DM just made a video monologue of an alternate history they came up with and somehow turned it into a real video.
There are two options I can think of to explain things. Specifically how you look younger once again.
1) you are a time traveller irl
2) you are related to Hank Green who also famously changes ages randomly from video to video (yes even with his new curly hair) based on an innate phase projection response to being viewed after being recorded and uploaded.

You know for a few seconds, I thought that I clicked on the wrong Door Monster video.
Then for a another few seconds, I thought that Kyle dressed up in the same costume all over again.
I'm STILL confused. I'm 88.3% sure this is edited but maybe Kyle really did just dress up in the same costume and go to the same location. I'll never know!!
Remember when Future Tech ideas in 4X games was like AI, Robot Troops, Space Stations, Colony Ships and now we got AI and Acid Rain?

We kind of stopped having a lot of real good sci-fi authors. It kinds of messes things up for games.
That and we are still not caught up with most of the theoretical science that's been done in the last century.

The robot troops are still there.
We have all of those things except for colony ships, which are on the roadmap as the only feasible method for crossing interstellar space with the laws of physics as we currently know them. We stopped predicting the future because we're there.
IMHO the war on terror and increasingly obvious consequences of climate change killed a lot of optimism. Eventually things should swing back.

Paradox need these sponsorships so you'll be tricked into buying incomplete games at full price with DLC preplanned before release.
It’s a $40 game, which to me is pretty cheap. Also the demo was fun. Yeah the dlc already pre planned is annoying but assuming it turns out well I’ll probably buy it, sooner or later. For now I’m quite enjoying it. A lot more than Civ 6. Imo Civ 4 was the best but 5 was still good fun. Need more time to be sure but I suspect I’ll end up liking Millenia about the same.

Yeah steampunk (age of aether in game) is one of the alternate ages. Every era besides the first two (stone and bronze) have potential alternate ages. One of my favorite parts so far. I’m just finishing up the age of alchemy currently.
