I think it does help to go back into the past (not to dwell on it) to find the origins of the suffering, the "original wound," so to speak. This can explain A LOT because it can help us understand the patterns of behavior that govern us TODAY. But, the danger is dwelling on the past for a lack of knowing how to cope with it once we've found the "source." Rehashing our past experiences doesn't help in the long run. The fact remains, we still have to correct the "wrong" thoughts that are tormenting us and impeding our happiness. Thank you, Sr. Shivani for always bringing it back to this essential point. I really love Shivani ; her talks are powerful.** Only one thing I wish I could talk with her about** is this: so many children are being/have been sexually abused. One could call it an epidemic in the world. When she talks about feeling nice no matter what the other person is doing I believe this can be a wrong thought for this circumstance and also for adults who are raped, people in jails/prisons who are tortured etc.
