The more I see on the channel, the more happy I am with my Rockwood MiniLite
Pound for pound I feel like Rockwood is one of the best out there
Agreed. We love our 2509s(and a non-bendy murphy). This nano has pretty much zero counter space if you need to keep the sink and stove uncovered. That's almost always the biggest issue I see with bunkhouses under 30ft. I only use my inside stove in the rain, so I prefer the outside stove compared to the griddle. My 22 inch blackstone comes along regardless, so I don't need an included griddle. I'd rather have an outside stove or outside storage next to my outside fridge. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice unit and the weight is very towing friendly.
Unique floor plan but...
Based on my 45 years of RV experience, the lighter they are, the faster they fall apart. Just my opinion...
There’s been more than enough evidence to support that theory sadly
I found out yesterday your last monthly update was spot on. My local RV dealership is discounting units by 33% and willing to add negative equity for my current rv for trade into deals where last year they wouldn't even talk about it. Just saying; sell your rv privately, then come see us. Thanks for all you publish nerd.
Awesome I try to keep folks In the loop!
I LOVE the Navy blue!!! And encourage them to keep using BLUES.
I’d be open to a 180 degree flip - the bathroom in the front, the bedroom in the back with a slide out the back to allow for the Murphy bed not limiting access to the door (not even sure this would be possible) and to make it even more challenging, move the door closer to the bunks. We don’t have an outside kitchen in our Alto, so to us it’s not a make it or break it thing. Looking forward to what you are coming up with Josh!
Ty Claudia! More to come
I love our 208. We have a 2022 model and have nothing but enjoyment. Tow it with a Lexus GX460, tows very well. I second the recommendation for the murphy bed for flexibility.
We bought our 2024 Apex 208BHS after reviewing dozens of your videos! It pulls easily with my F150 (2.7 Ecoboost). Its inside footprint punches way above its weight class. It is exactly what we needed for our family (2 adults, 2 small kids and a dog). FYI a dog bed is perfect under the flip up bunk. Also fits a small dog crate there as well!
Thanks so much for all your work! Your insight/expertise pointed out so many things we never considered before as first time buyers.
does it feel heavy during towing?
@@tremanuel7222 You know it's back there, but I have zero issues pulling it. I have taken it into the Adirondack mountains so far, and while the turbos work hard on the hills, my F150 has performed well. I also have Bilstein 5100 shocks and load E tires which help with squat/stability when it's fully loaded. Most people think I have airbags.
Great pick for your family! Glad it’s working out
Abord our 187RB I made a 1/2 sink cover. It gives us back some counter space while still using the sink. And for the naysayers. We have logged over 7,000 miles and it hasn't fallen apart yet. I would buy it all over again.
Nice!! Wow
@@JoshtheRVNerd I told my dealer I intend to run the tiers bald. Thay will never get the chance to dry rot. I have camping reservations from now until November. If anyone is out and about look for a gray RAM and Just the Two of US, Beverely Beach Maryland on the spare cover.
I suppose a tub would work for families with small kids, but I definitely wouldn't think that an adult could have a relaxing soak in there.
Adults certainly wouldn’t fit
Need to run the awning over the outdoor kitchen. Like the interior and that window view.
That would be cool!
Sorry, Josh - I have been commenting on the fly here, so you'll see my nattering all over this thread. 😉 Around 17:30 you asked about the camp kitchen. My 2022 215RBK has a lovely outdoor kitchen and I love it. But it's on the larger side (the full sink drains into the gray tank, I have a dorm-sized fridge, and the large door levers up with struts, giving the rain cover that the awning doesn't reach. I suppose at some point when I get a new, larger trailer, an outdoor kitchen may or may not be something I'd want. So, to your short question, my long-winded answer is: Yes, I think they should be an option. 😊
lol thank you
Perfect weight for my chevy colorado have been struggling to find something that wasn't a micro size or right up against my 7k weight limit thanks this is great.
Glad I could help! I have a whole video full of mid size truck options here m.czcams.com/video/zgW2GuL6mfU/video.html
I love these little guys! My trailer is the slightly larger Ultralite (2022). My friend has a 2021 Nano (which inspired me to get mine). They're great little units.
Owners seem to be happy with them! Glad you’re enjoying yours
I like the fact the Murphy bed is an option and not standard, but I don't get the tub/shower thing. Moving away from the browns is an excellent idea and I am with you on the outside speakers forget them.
Awesome Ty
I love the color blue. I the color of the interior. It’s very nice. Thank you Josh for showing this one.
My pleasure!
Blue being my favorite color I really like the upholstery choice
Awesome! It’s slowly growing on me
I like this Apex camper
I do as well
So, I own this camper (2021 without the Murphy) and we do love it with the exception of the bathroom and bunks. Whoever decided a flat cabinet on a wall above a corner sink in the bathroom has lost their mind. The second thing that’s annoying is, the winterization hose is under the lower bed and very difficult to get to as well as there being no ladder for the top bunk. We just found wooden stairs for a bunk bed and added steps that don’t bother the bathroom door or refrigerators. I was really hoping they’d at least put a corner mirror in the bathroom but they didn’t. 😢
We also pulled down the curtain on the front window and put up black vinyl because the curtain was annoying while sleeping.
Great feedback. Ty so much. Input from real owners is the best
I love the blue!!!
Shubs are my friends.
I remember your original video when I bought my 2019 Apex Nano 208BHS. Nice update!
Yeah they’ve made some simple but smart choices
This floorplan would be awesome if they just added a TV for cold rainy days, offered a sofa “option” for the decades old ”Denny’s” diner booth dinette and upgraded that very entry level bathroom with a porcelain toilet, shower door and a Hengs vent fan💥💥💥
Heng’s fans for the win!
Love how light that is! The true queen bed is nice. Love the shy light. Wish more rvs had that. The interior has some nice space. The kitchen is a little bit small. The bathroom is ok. Love the front wind shed. The huge windows are nice. Wish the bathroom had the xl vet fan. Love this thank you josh!
Thanks for watching!
I really like the Apex Nano 203RBK, 213RDS, and the 221RLS.
They’re an underrated brand for sure
Love the blue!! I’m so sick of the color scheme in my older rv.
Brown, red, green complete with tacky border. 😂
You and me both! It’s growing on me
Thanks, Nerd 🍺 🤓. We as a family like the outside kitchen, but that space would make for some great storage.
Totally!
👍 I suppose it could make the possible first camper list, but is it the second camper purchased the first time around is the question? Hmm 🤔 Great video Josh. Your Are Awesome!!! 😎
9:43 FINALLY, a freezer door with TWO shelves!!! I don't know why the bigger 10cft+ freezers don't have that.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
So glad to see the inclusion of a pantry in this bunkhouse model. If you have kids, you need a place to store the Cap'n Crunch and Lil Debbies! I would like if the microwave was also an air fryer, how am I supposed to make biscuits in this? 😉
You had me at little Debbie’s
I love the 'stargazer' feature - nice to have the shade, though.
Yeah wouldn’t want that skylight without
Agree about outside speakers. I don’t go camping to hear other people’s music. 🎶
I like the fact that you can actually see the front window - nice Murphy bed design.
It’s a shame they didn’t make the outdoor kitchen (which we don’t use) an option and make the bottom bunk removable to use that space for e-bike & sports gear storage (paddleboard, etc)
I feel like more builders are getting on the bandwagon
Whoa!!! No way that thing is just 4200 dry weight!!! They sure got a lot into that weight range!!!
Yeah apex is really good about light weights
I was talking to someone the other day who said a tub was a requirement for them... man, tubs in RVs are so rare!
I like camp kitchens that come fully loaded. In fact, expand on the camp kitchen. Because the awning can't cover the camp kitchen, customize it with its own pop-out tent covering. Give it a TV mount, so if you do have a TV in the unit, you can bring it and keep watching the game. Give me an ice maker and plenty of outlets for an air fryer, blenders, etc. (with a breaker just for the outdoor kitchen). Give me a long slide-out so I can have silverware and plates. Actually, do what Rivian is doing with their camping tunnel. I want outlets, an awning, and an ice maker. BOOM!
Ice makers are actually pretty nice and surprisingly affordable
My 2022 Jayco 22rb has the drawer and mini fridge. I have come to love the drawer. IT is BIG and holds a lot of stuff, convenient access when we are outside. The mini fridge? I'm using it way more than I thought I would. I don't think I'd go with any RV that doesn't have some sort of compartment in that rear area of the camper. It's just become a convenient but necessary spot to tuck things away.
Yeah fridges are handy outdoors
Good video Josh
Thanks!
Bunks need a cargo door. Also, removing the camp kitchen could enable cargo access.
No place for coffee maker !!!
No place for trash can. I guess I could take a sawzall to the shelf under the sink.
I like the colors inside
Awesome! Ty
need a split sink cover. so you can still use the water when cutting veggies on the other half. I put 2 70qt coolers under the bunk so the fold up bunk or rear door is no use for me. Outdoor kitchen: Needs to be covered by awning, Griddle needs to be turned because most scraping forces on it will be front to back, and those slides are not made for side to side forces, and bare minimum would be a drawer mounted above leaving the entire bottom open for storage. That way you can buy a black stone store it there bring a table to put it on. (with a gas line below of course). One thing is a light for night cooking I bought a usb 12v light for this ....maybe you can think of something better.
Appreciate the ideas. Sounds good to me
Love the windsheild, love the skylight. The navy blue ins't bad either. We'd rather a unit without the bunkhouse and maybe a bigger bathroom instead, though. Overall, it's not bad for the weight and size. Not our cup of tea as-is. Thanks, Uncle Josh!
I have some no-bunk apex models coming. Stay tuned
Love it. wonder how it would hold up to New England weather. Also hate no one can do a bathroom door!!! TVs aren't an issue since most folks use their computers. But the oven is a problem for me. Just a microwave? no. Because there is zero room for a even a toaster oven. A split sink is preferred.
I am looking into using an RV full time in CT(New England) Can you recommend some RV models you prefer for the NE weather ? I watch so many RV vids, most people are in the South. I want to stay here in New England.I am heading into being a (have To) RV'er ..Thank You all that my see this. Have a 5 Star Day..
Awesome Ty
17:20 Having it included helps the manufacture flex it as part of the unit..however People are creative and the reduced cost and location would be a plus to that demographic. I believe the company has taken the view of just wrapping it into the platform ..Handy folks that want to do something different with the space, will remove it, resell it,.. and do as they please..I like it as standard equipped with Reefer/griddle .. IMHO..you are the best in your field of doing YT RV demos/options..thanks for the effort.
My pleasure! Thank you for watching!
The blue is pretty if you like blue. But I don't do blue or orange/rust.😢
I do like the blue upholstery with the light, but quite white, hard surfaces. For my family, we can do without the camp kitchen "appliances" as we have things of that nature already in our tent camping arsenal. The only changes I personally would like would be a no slide dine-ofa and I would eliminate the over the bed skylight. But then this model wouldn't be what it is. So for us, I would just choose something else that's similar.
Fair enough. Appreciate all the input
Bring back camp kitchens
Make camp kitchens great again
I like this one except we don’t need the bunks.
Agreed, I’d prefer a flex room, a desk with the weight capacity that can hold an adult if you have one other person along. There is also the dinette, but privacy is always a consideration
@@claudiamartin9700Exactly.
Try the 213rds perhaps
No to the gas grill. Still unsure of the outside fridge. Years of camping and never had either one.
The fridges actually are handy if you have power on site
That would be nice with a ramp option also
Hmm.. 🤔
To your question at 10:20 - ngl, I hate the stock cover. It's unweildy and awkward (I have made use of it as a serving tray in a pinch, tho 😅). Even if it came in 2 pieces, I'd still replace it with the rolling sink cover.
Roger. Thank you
I think we saw this model at the shows we go to and have it in our top 5 options. The A/C is the loud kind, though, I believe?
I prefer the one piece sink cover.
Yeah air is a bit noisy
@@JoshtheRVNerd- figured it was. This size should be fine for us on rainy days. We were okay in the 17 footer we rented last year when it rained 😊
#RVNerdHerd 🎉 😊 🎉
Keep the outside grill
I prefer a shower with a seat and a nautilus door on the shower.
Ty
Don't like step up dinette prefer a dineoffa set up
We have a Coachmen 194bhs. The camp kitchen is nice, but we only use the fridge. It would be nice if there was a drawer option and the fridge was 12v. Also, the awning is over the outdoor kitchen. The door is set forward more to allow room for the arm, making the storage deeper to the rear. Does the inside fridge hit the dinette in turtle mode?
I have a section in the video labeled road mode that will help answer traveling questions
Apexii
#Nerdherd! 🇨🇦
Pass thru does not gave aluminum framing under bed; is there different verbiage for "full aluminum frame"? TY
The rv’s structure is fully aluminum framed. The bed is not. Two different areas.
Bed decking isn’t structural
Needs a cargo door in the back for the bunk/storage area
👍🏻 Ty
No stargazer and not sold on the front windshield. I have a Rockwood MiniLite with the windshield and it lets a lot of heat in the camper, I do live in the hot humid south.
Yeah they are basically a thermal nightmare
I would never use the outside fridge& stove . I loje being inside away from the bugs
I drove 2 and half hours to bishs I had a bad experience. Someone tried to sell me a hybrid camper with alot wrong with it. I had hope for bishs after watching your videos. Now I am not sure about bishs
I’d be curious to know what store you visited or with whom you had spoke. Any details you’re willing to share is great
Do they have a model without the bunks
Of course. About half their lineup has no bunks
nice- is there a non-bunk version of this?
Yeah check things like the 213 or 203
@@JoshtheRVNerd not that were getting ready to depart with our Aston DBK just yet- thinking towards the future
Where are theses Apex campers located fir sale ,?
We have them at several stores. We have them at my home store in Michigan
Apex (plural apices or apexes)
👍🏻
🎉#NerdHerd
Wondering if they make a couples equivalent model to this one.
Yeah they have a whole lineup with and without bunks
How long an a trailer sit on a lot and not get lot rot?!
Lot rot is a general term to work that needs done while the rv is in stock. It’s not a specific condition that sets in
@@JoshtheRVNerd thanks! I’m looking to purchase a geo pro and I see some that have been sitting for awhile at dealerships.
This would be great...but they fell into that modern "no oven" thing. The hell is that garbage?
Nano has been that way.. well.. always basically
As far as the camp kitchen, I’d rather have the open space, griddles are fun but limited. I’d rather be able to bring my own propane grill which also doubles as a griddle. Maybe just a slide out table for me to set it on. The mini fridge seems useless. Only runs on shore power or generator. Literally one of the worst and space taking things on this RV
Fair enough! This is helpful. Ty
Manufacturers always just missing the mark!!! We don’t want tables, give us a couch or theatre seating option!
Can’t do theater seats in step up slides. Your feet would be off the floor and head thru the slide ceiling
Remove camp kitchen, add flexible rear bunk area. I'm a broken record on these suggestions lol.
Keep them coming
2024 and US RV manufacturers are still only providing 200 w of Solar. Get serious
I own this model, the 200w panel does well at keeping the internal battery full to run the small fans and DC motors. I just added my Bluetti AC300 unit with 6kw of batteries and (3) 400w folding panels to make this truly off-grid. Without adding multiple batteries and at least 1000w plus solar, nothing will be able to power your unit completely. Expect to spend $5k-6k to make it that a reality. Most people will just settle for a quiet generator for 1/3 the cost.
Majority of Americans rvers are still park camping with no real need not solar so you don’t see a lot here
Wish u would stop trying so hard to be funny. D- on this video at being funny .. good content over all.. enjoy RV reviews wo some of the "hummer "
Hummer? Sorry I don’t follow
Humor? Is that what you meant?
