When you release spring tension, rather than using your wrenches like you did, try pulling the springs from the long end where they insert in the plastic block. Once they are both out you can then rotate entire spring almost 360 degrees.
Do the rear shock with out the springs gave any rebound in them when compress by them selves. I'm trying to figure out the snowmobile shocks as I ordered some front and rear shocks and they both have no rebound

can you replace the idler wheels without removing the track frame????
Good question. I don't have that machine anymore and it's been so long I couldn't tell you for sure. Hopefully somebody else will chime in.
