    I finally owned one now and it’s great. I wonder if theres a way to make it work with distortion with only neural pluggin like a soldano or the boss katana 50mk2 distortion i have a focusrite solo 212. I’ve put it in front of the amp with chuggs and it’s bad i want to blend the 2 sounds on a budget.

    • @DaveWebbMusic
      @DaveWebbMusic  Před rokem +2

      Thanks dude. 🤘🏼
      I find with distortion that the SY200 works best afterwards, either in an FX loop or on a seperate channel. (Although some sounds do work well into a dirty amp.)
      I sometimes run the SY200 into a second track on Ableton, or Cubase and process the sound from there. Works a treat alongside the Neural plug-ins.
      Katana 50mk2 is tricky because it doesn’t have a loop. In that instance I’d set up your fav distortion pedal in the SY200 fx loop and run it into a clean amp. That way the synth effect stays clean and your guitar gets dirty. Just adjust the fx loop routing in settings.
      Cool thing is this can be either system or per patch.
      Hope that helps!

    Hi Dave, I'm late to the party as usual. I have my sy200 on my GT1000. I have a divider with guitar amp sim on A and sy200 on B with some delay (master) comp, and pitch shift (slight). My guitar goes in the sy with the direct send into the input of the GT1000. I then have the output of the sy go to the effect return on the GT1000. I use to have it in the effects loop like you had but I kept having balance problems with it being either too loud on the guitar or on the sy. I think I'm going to play with the direct levels to try and get it balanced more but so far so good. Just an fyi

    The different way your using when doing this video, are you using the input then OUTPUT on the sy-200 or Input and SEND? Trying to do what your doing like this with a quad cortex. The BOSS manual sucks, is the only button on the BOSS (Direct/Effects) or do you need to change something else too?

    • @DaveWebbMusic
      @DaveWebbMusic  Před 2 lety

      Ok, so on the SY200 I’m only using the input and output. The FX send & return is ignored.
      On my GT1000 Core I’m using a mono send/return which has my direct level blended at the desired level with the synth sound, per patch.
      In this case I love it and think it works wonderfully!
      If you can think of/figure out another or better way to do it, please let me know!!
      The BOSS manual leaves a lot for the user to discover, which is a pain. As far as I can tell it’s only that one option in the menu for direct/effects. The blend knobs seems to be entirely on the main signal.
      Hope this helps. 🤘🏼

      Thanks! 🤘🏼
      It does when you set the S/R to direct, as you can see/hear in the example with the Ultratap in the loop.
      I have no idea if the signal still has to travel through when set to Effect and the pedal is off. That is a little beyond me, but worst case I’m sure there would be some form of buffer…

    I've been looking around quite a bit and haven't been able to find much about using this thing in a stereo setup.
    I split my signal after my dirt and run that to a small amp for a dry signal. Then everything after that is stereo, using my Boss CH-1 as the splitter to left and right.
    I wish the SY-200 had stereo I/O and capability. That would absolutely seal the deal for me.

    Thanks for the video. I have the SY-200 and really want to use the S/R mode. But how do I use it with my live setup?
    I`m using a Boss NS-2 with S/R to my dry pedals like drive and wha. And the other to my wet pedals like phaser and delay together with my FX loop on my amp.
    So how do I combine the SY-200 S/R with the NS-2 S/R? The manual really dosen`t explain putting together two pedals with S/R

    • @DaveWebbMusic
      @DaveWebbMusic  Před 2 lety

      Hmm.. Man I’ve found it tricky to incorporate.
      It all depends on how you’re using the SY200.
      The S/R basically allows you to have seperate effects on the dry guitar, or on the Synth, and then blend back together.
      So maybe try routing the dry guitar into the drive, wah side, and route the effect in with your wet pedals..?

    • @perbremstherkelsen
      @perbremstherkelsen Před 2 lety

      @@DaveWebbMusic I want to set it up like you do. Because by now the NS2 kills the signal if I´m using the hold function. And other effects like phaser affects the SY 200. My signal chain is as follows:
      Guitar - In NS2 - out to wet effects like delay, reverb ect. - into my return on the amp.
      The send of the NS2 goes to the tuner, SY 200, wha, fuzz. distortion, wha nr. 2 and then into the amp`s input on the front.
      And then the return of the NS2 goes into send on my amp.

      Ah cool, love the SY-200.
      It comes down to preference on where you want the synth effect routed.
      Sounds like you understand the FX loop, but in this video I give an example doing this czcams.com/video/E23hZdXwEOU/video.html
      SY before amp will push synth into the amp, and will then affected as well.
      After amp keeps the synth cleaner.
      Both can work for different sounds, and definitely worth experimenting for different patches.

    I have a setup question. I have a guitar a few pedals a JVM410HJS a Boss TAE Attentuator.
    I want to hook up the pedal so the guitar is going through the Preamp and I don't want the SY-200 affected by the Preamp Distortion. I want it clean to the speakers. But wouldn't mind taking advantage of the Effects in the TAE plus probably the MD-200 which I have as part of my Pedal Board.
    Anyone have anything like this setup already?

      Place the SY200 in the loop of your TAE, either simple in/out and blend, or use the send & return feature on the SY200 and route effect only to the TAE fx loop.

    Hi ! What do you think about the GT-1000 in the effects loop of the SY-200 rather than the SY in a send/return of the GT-1000 ? I feel that it's easier and more versatile . If I understand correctly the GT1000’s output would be affecting the synth sound, and I don’t like that all the time. Allows for more flexibility with the SY in the GT loop.
      Also in the SY loop means it would be mono & I run in stereo.
      There’s no “right” way, that’s what’s cool.

      @@DaveWebbMusicTo precise, the S/R of the SY is in direct mode so that the GT signal input isn't affected by the SY. You can blend the 2 signals with the D.LEVEL / E.LEVEL. And when the SY switch is Off, you have the GT only. But you're right, in this way only mono is not possible.

    Is there an option to feed a totally dry signal through this and have a wet signal come out another output? I want to run my guitar straight into this and have a dry signal come out to go in the front of the amp, then blend the wet synth signal back into the fx loop. My goal is so I can play the synth and guitar sounds together whilst harmonising with each other... think that makes sense! I've got a signal merger box ready for this. Cheers!

    • @DaveWebbMusic
      @DaveWebbMusic  Před 2 lety +1

      In short, yes.
      My first example does this more or less, dry signal through sy200 into the input of the Core (amp), but I am sending my effect level to my DAW instead of the loop.
      I’m not totally up to speed with amp fx loops, but if I understand correctly, you can send the effect level from the send on the sy200 into the fx return of your amp.
      OR
      Just put the SY200 in the amps fx loop and blend back in the amount of dry signal you want. That is how I use it my Core. This way the synth level is not being pushed by the front of the amp.
      Hope that helps!

    • @ricardod123
      @ricardod123 Před 2 lety +2

      @@DaveWebbMusic the pedal came today and the fx loop can be used just as a dry out, which totally solves my conundrum. So I'm running the 'send' to the front of my amp 100% dry and I've got the standard 'output' 100% wet to my amps fx loop return. You can then use your amps wet/dry control to blend the guitar signal with the synth signal without compromising the note tracking or losing your amps gain. Bliss! You will need a signal merger if you already have other effects in your amp fx loop to join the chain back together again. Hope this comment helps anyone else who fancies this seemingly obscure setup.

      It all depends on how you want to use it. If you put it before the GT1000 it will b sent straight into an amp, the following settings will change the sound. Eg. Distortion etc.
      I personally find that putting it in the send/return of the GT1000 allows you to have more flexibility. You can have it in any position, and then blend how you like it.

    • @DaveWebbMusic
      @DaveWebbMusic  Před 2 lety

      Hey man. I haven’t used a GX100 yet, but I’m guessing routing will be similar.
      If you put the SY200 in the mono fx loop, place that after the amp, you can blend the guitar and synth levels on the SY unit. The synth effect won’t be pushed by the amp that way. Then put your stereo effects after that.
      I have since used a divider towards the end of the chain with synth 100% on one side and guitar on the other, they then blend back together, then I trigger that divider on and off, it seems to be working well.
      There are so many different options here, using the fx loop on the SY200 etc.. But I’d start with that first suggestion above and experiment from there. You’ll find one that feels & sounds good for you.
      Remember too, you can create different patches for different sounds on your GX100. We’re not locked in to one routing option anymore.
