RIP Dickey Betts.
Rock & Roll Royalty.
My brother called him “ Sir Dickey Betts!”
Every day when I went to work banging nails at 6 am in ‘72-73 or so this song blasted from my 8 track. That and ‘Blue Sky’ made the day and my life all the better. Thanks Dickie
Amen! His music lives on thankfully
Hell yeah brotha
blue sky very cool song
I was a D.J. at a country bar in the ‘80’s and invariably every night someone would request this song. I was always happy to play it.
lol. In Maine back in the early 80’s I used to request “ Jessica”.
Crickets.
I must be getting old. So many of the people behind the music that I grew up with are dying. RIP Dickey.
Yeah it's sad, This is the decade where we are going to see ENTIRE bands from the classic era no longer with us. Drummer Jamoie is now the only original member of the Allman Brothers Band still alive. There are no living members left of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Molly Hatchet, and several others. Scary to think that in the next 10-15 years almost ALL of the bands and musicians who were famous in the 60s through 70's will be gone.
RIP Dickey Betts. The best ever.
Well, I think so!
Considering I listen to Ramblin Man and Jessica daily!
That was some rock and roll royalty right there.
My brother texted me when I sent him this vid:” Sir Dickey Betts.”
Absolutely amazing band. Dickey Betts was one of the greatest performers and guitarists of all time.
He made it to 80! That is good. He gave so much good music and was a great influence on many guitarists of which I'm one. I pray his soul is at peace with God. Truly will be missed.
RIP Dickey - you gave us so much wonderful music! Truly one of the greatest ever!
It is not a goodbye. Its your legacy. .
Rip, Dickey betts. you are a legend.
One of the best performance in R&R history❤️
Songwriter with EXTRA .! Performs with care , energy and feeling..!
Able to do it with flourish...and enjoys the revealed..!
A real crowd pleaser..! RIP WELL DONE...
This is what you get when born in poverty but with a glimmer of hope!
Perfect formula for greatness.
Amen!!❤
Never knew much about David Goldflies but that is some top notch southern rock bass jamming.
Is there a better song than this? No.
Me too. I’m rambling. At 47 I thought I would’ve been more stationary.
One of the reasons I picked up the guitar
RIP Dickie! You were an incredible singer, writer, and guitar player.
I think it's fair to say "that performance showed some true guitar talent".
RIP Dickey Betts 🎸
RIP Dickey Betts
RIP Dickie Betts 🌹🕊️💔
Blessings to the Family!
Playing in Heaven with the Brothers!
I've seen them live Macon GA. 1983
😊🎸 🎙️ 🥁🎹🌎✌️🙏🎶

Ramble on, Dickey Betts. Thank you!!
good 'ol Dicky Betts. Love ya, man.
Rest in Paradise Dickey Betts 🌺✝️🌺
One of the greatest songs ever made! Never get tired of hearing it!
But today people prefer rap over this.
Can you imagine?!
Rip....truly an ALL time great!
dickie betts legendary guitar player,,,,,, his riffs are some of the greatest ever
Oh, best wishes to the great gig in the sky….
RIP rambling man ❤
Dickey your music lives on forever miss you big part of our lives
A MONSTER. A LEGEND. A MASTER. ICON.
An American legend 🎸🇺🇸
The one & only.
“Dickey is the good guitarist, I’m the famous one.” - Duane Allman
Dickey Betts is a National Treasure.
Should have his own Holiday..
What’s interesting is upper class whites would rather embrace rap “ music” ( misnomer) than this because they are ashamed of their working class roots.
And that would be the “ pasty liberals.”
RIP one of the best. I saw The Outlaws and Stanky Brown at the Capital in the early 70s. Needed lots of work back then.
One of the best bands ever ‼️👍
RIP. The best.
RIP Dickey Betts !!😔
RIP Dickey........See you some time again
Emailed David Spero a month ago saying I want to hear Jessica in the afterlife.
Also emailed David and told him my brother called him “ Sir Dickey Betts.”
He responded by saying I made Dickey’s Day.
Very few things in life we don’t get sick of with repeated exposure!
@@Kate-it7cn We all have to check out at some time - and, ironically, we all know that….Im very thankful for Dickeys music, the Allman Brothers music and seeing 2 or 3 times. Dickey evokes his soul into every note he played and does it like no other player I have ever seen…..and I’ve seen a few
@@joerectifier Oh, I know.
He had a great run.
It’s just weird because for the past year whenever I drank beer and got into the zone the only songs I would listen to repeatedly were Jessica and Ramblin Man.
The beer drinking and listening to those songs with my earbuds on were the greatest high I’ve had.
Unlike everything else, it never seemed to get old!
RIP...
Ramble on, brother Dickie. See you somewhere on down the road.
RIP Dickie thanks for the tunes
One of the best bands to walk the earth. Few bands can emit pure joy. You can not hear this or Jessica and not get happy.
‘One of’ try the BEST band ever.
This AND Jessica!
I listen to both after I’ve watched crime vids to bring me back to homeostasis!
Big fan of him, wonderful guitarist
Nobody gets away from time... Dickey was something else.... great!!!!!
R.I.P. Dickey Betts.
Dickie WRANGLES the guitar like no other - pure and natural feel and time....thats his gift - FEEL- TIME - REPETITION and God's tone. His spirit encapsulates every note.
3:30 mark hit me hard can’t stop listening to it
@@TimmyDuncan-jw3zi He impresses without trying to impress
I hear ya bud. Been on a mushroom kick for a year now and it takes this shit to another level
Dickey Betts, Erik Clapton, Mark Knopfler - my Guitar - Heros
Electric harmonious bending & very light vending... DICKY BETTS A real all-mans bro
Ramblin' man is an American song of the American group Allman Brothers.
Not enough is said about Dicky Betts vocal. He is one smooth southern drink of country blues.
Gregory Larry I know it’s an old comment but this song isn’t easy to sing either! Such an impressive voice
Xray
No DOUBT dude, we’ll said there guy!!!
They are legends...All of them..They epitomized southern rock n roll...Right up there with Skynyrd, 38 Special and the whole gang of Southern rockers.
Gregg Allman‘s dad was shot by a hitchhiker.
He is the best guitar player around. Still playing too.
Cool seeing Dickie and Gregg shake hands at the end of the song.
Tune is GOLDEN..! Thought is platinum...effort is quicksilver...result is white hot reverberating pleasures...music contains SO MUCH...
IT WAS USED WELL BY BETTS...DELIVERED THE GOODS
This has to be peak Dicky, its amazing
I’ve researched ALL his vids.
It’s peak Dickey!
He's cooking on all cylinders for sure. I'd say through 96 was his prime.
RIP to a legend
What an absolute shredder
RIP DICKIE…BEST EVER
Schon wieder ein musikalischer Begleiter meiner Jugend der die Bühne des Lebens verläßt. Danke für die tolle Musik. RIP Dickey
Best Betts are on Dickey Betts. That guy can rip a les Paul like nobody else's business. Thank you for the post. Ramblin man, back seat of a greyhound bus , what a trip. Good day and many happy returns
Southern Rock.Just can't get enough of it.What can you say about Dickey that you guys haven't already said.Pure MAGIC.
That’s gotta be the best live performance of a song I’ve ever seen
How about the 3:30 mark? Chills
Anytime I drive somewhere and hear this song on the radio I know its going to be a good day. just love it.
Thank you Dickie
RIP. I'm pretty sure I was at this show
RIP Mr. Betts Heaven gained a remarkable addition to it Choir.
Dickie Betts is one of the best guitar players ever, was glad I grew up in this era of music, I love southern rock
It bugged the living shit out of me that they could even play disco music when we had THIS! Southern rock lives on and disco still sucks!
@@blisteredblues1255 lol. I dont mind disco but yeah…love my bands/musicians from the southeast #1
RIP Dickie.
Dad: Turn it off.
Son: Why?
Dad: We have bigger speakers downstairs.
Idk why I teared up with this comment... maybe because I'm high
lol
AMEN!!
Douglas Betta Def something my dad would say to this song and every other ABB song.
Lmao
Always a " joy " in this song. Spoke with me about his spirituality one time. First time seeing this but i get it. Its a sad day.😢
Dickey Betts is one of rocks greatest guitarist.
Right next to Duane Allman...
My favorite guitarist of all time. I love Duane, but Dickey's style speaks to me more
King of tone, period
Dickey looks healthy here.
I agree. I'm even going to put him in my top 5.
Damn!
Wasn’t a singer but sure was a song writer and one of the greatest guitarists in history!
Miss you buddy. Time to ramble your way on up to Heaven.
Dangerous Dan Toler!
Geez(sigh) ... I wish I had a time machine to go back to the good ole' days and good solid music.
Is there anyone more underrated in rock n roll than Dickie Betts? Maybe Tom Johnston of the Doobies. Betts is a genius songwriter and masterful guitar player. The most talented member of the Allmans Bros for sure.
Terry Kath also underrated...
There ain't NOTHING & I MEAN NOTHING like 2 GREAT TUNED LES PAULS trading off on lead!!!
I love the story I once heard Merle Haggard tell about Dickie Betts & this GREAT GREAT song.
In 1973 Dickie Betts wrote Rambling Man & offered it to Merle Haggard.
Merle listened to Dickie's demo & told him that he sounded great & he should record it with The Allman Brothers Band.
This song went on to become one of The Allman Brothers Band Biggest Hits!!!
Later on in the 80s I was watching Merle Haggard on The Nashville Network with Ralph Emery & Merle Haggard said that he has kicked himself many times for not recording this GREAT SONG!!!
MAN I LOVE THIS STORY SO MUCH!!!!!
Much love from Mobile Alabama.
Wishing I could have Seen them in concert, yeap.✌
More fool Merle Haggard lucky us!!
I saw him sing and play this one when I was in college in the early 1970s when it was brand new and he sang and played it as their 'new song'.
Dickey Betts is a Guitar Great.
That is fucking talent
Imagine being at that show. Just imagine.
Dickey Betts looks like Dennis Eckersley. R.I.P. Dickey. Thanks for the music.
"When it's time for leavin'"you gotts go......RIP Dickie
I was today years old when I realized Dicky sang this song
Dickey was on fire here, maybe even more than just a LITTLE BUZZED. See him live. One of a kind.
Cocaine can be a wonderful thing (until it’s not)
Dicky at the hight of his powers......People forget how good he was. Get well Mr. Betts.
They are so underrated!
A Southern Gentleman The Ramblin Man .
Even in the lean years they played astonishing. Dickey is the master of melody, one of the greatest guitar players, and sadly one of the last survivors.
dont forget JOHNNY JOHANSON ( JAMO) he came to the band with dickey betts duane allways wanted 2 drummers
I cut my teeth on the Allman brothers band,, Dickey inspired me so very very much on the guitar! I owe my chops to Dickey Betts, and Larry Carlton~!~ Thank you Dickey and Larry~!~!~!~
Just read a short article that Dickey's surgery was a success. Thank God! Just rest up Ramblin' Man. :)
Ladybug. What was wrong with him. Hope he's feeling better.🎸🎵
@@jcavazos4145 -It was reported that he was playing with his dog when he slipped and fell hitting his head. It caused bleeding in the brain and he had to undergo surgery. That was back in Sept 2018. I hope he's doing well now.
This is sad reading now 😢
Dicky is one of the best,he and Greg were a great team
Nothing like a British song with a black in the YT adverts!
