Rest in Peace Dickey Betts. This song has a whole new meaning now.
RIP legend. The man had his own style. You could tell it was him within a few notes. This solo is a great example of his particular brand of genius.
I say the same thing about Jerry Garcia

RIP Dickey, sad day but also a day to celebrate his life, We grew up listen to the Allman brothers on the West cost of Florida. Southern Rock!
Same here , Dickey went to a Southeast High School. Used to see Greg on his motorcycle occasionally at the beach.
The guitar jam at the end of this song is among the best in human history.
I just had to hear it!!
Amen! Awesome!!
R.I.P Dickey Betts
R.I.P Greg And Dwayne Allmen and Dicky Betts you guys are missed and this is your guy's masterpiece
Don't forget drummer Butch Trucks.
Rest in Peace Dickie Betts. You were the real deal.
Looking back, my grandpa wasn't very responsible. He would buy me donuts and sugary cereal and let me stay up late. We would ride around in his old Chevy truck and he would roll the windows down to smoke. Hardly even talking, just riding around listening to his CDs, my favorite being this one. My parents stopped letting me see him when they found out. He died of lung cancer a few years ago and I just wish I could ride around 1 more time
I feel ya friend. Sometimes that's all we have are the memories. But to have a song to go with them . Priceless. Thanks for sharing my friend.
That's truly beautiful and i totally respect and understand how you feel...
this isn't my real account just using it temporarily
I may not know exactly how that feels but..when i was younger my grandpa would use to pick me up in his old blue ford and he would pick me up from pre-school i think.. and he would always stop at a gas station to get me a propel water and a bag of cheezits... we ended up having to sell that same truck several years later because we need the money... selling that truck took something away from me..
and he would always have a certain list of songs he would play "sweet home alabama" "free bird" "wherewolves in london" and "ramblin man"... i made a special album called Papa's special album that hold all of those songs in his honor.. he passed away just last year...
RIP Dickey,greatest southern guitarist
Anyone listening to this legendary song in 2024?... Rip dicky betts

RIP Dickey!!! We great sorrow we have to say goodbye to the best musicians from that generation😢
Absolutely heartbroken to lose this man ! A true talent, a true person ! (RIP - DB)💔
Goodbye Ramblin' Man, you're sadly missed; ride free in heaven Mr. Betts 🕊️
I drove down HWY 41 yesterday.... I came here to hear stories about HWY 41, and heard the news... damn it! I'll never forget his music.
I'm a hippie I'm only 45. I love amazing music. ALL THE OLD MUSIC IS THE BEST.
Amen.
This ain't hippie music. This is southern rock.
@@Caligula_In_Hell he never said that it is but u right. but it doesnt matter really because great music exists beyond genres
@gille2k not meaning it as a genre but the fact the Allman's are from TN, Dickey and Butch are from FL, and Jaimoe is from MS...well, they're all southern boys and it's a rock band. Berry is the lone yankee, being from Chicago.
R.I.P. Dickey, yet another star in Heaven.
RIP Dickey Betts. Always thankful for the memories. This song always makes me think of my daddy, RIP. Hope you're rocking out together! ❤
Listen to Duane "in memory of Elizabeth Reed"

🎸 Thank you, Dickey, for all the music that you gave to all of us to enjoy. I remember being an 8 yr old "rolling down HWY 41 " with my Mom in Sarasota listening to this. Fly High Dickey . We love you and will miss you ❤️ 🕊️
RIP Dickey Betts....This song reminds me of my late great father who was a hall of famer race car builder..the good ole days..miss you Pop!
When my grandpa passed away, I went through his record collection and there was a Ramblin' Man 45 in there. This song always reminds me of him (and I even learned to play it on the guitar!).
That's awesome little man. Could not have picked a better band!
It's just nice that you think of him.

RIP Dickey Betts! Your songs and the Allman Brothers Band will live on for many many years!
I’ll always remember his interview where he told the story of writing Rambling Man. He was a young song writer, just getting by. He sub-letted a studio apartment from an old family friend in Macon, who was giving him a deal. He came home one night and the landlord was doing some yardwork, looked up at him asking Dicky how you getting along? Dickey told him of some songs he was excited about that were getting published, and the old man quipped, “that’s you, Dickey, just writing your songs, trying to make a living and doing the best you can.” He said those words really stuck with him and he knew there was a potentially great song in his old landlord’s words.
So long Ramblin Man! I remember this song being played everywhere that one magical summer that made me fall in love with Allman Brothers music... say hi to Duane, Gregg, Berry and all the others. RIP Dickey 😢❤🎶
Rest in Peace Dickey. You were a gem unto this world. One way out right? The whole Allman Brothers band united again at last.
Jaimoe is still alive and well so they’re not quite reunited yet. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen for a while
I’m sitting here in Cobb County, Georgia, just tapping my feet, while listening to the best music ever invented.

If it weren't for my parents, I would never have known all these older amazing bands. My Momma would listen to the Allman brother, Fleetwood mac, The Steve Miller band, and, so on. She was a real Hippie in those days. My Dad listened to ZZ Top, AC/DC, and Black Sabbath. Obviously a man who knew how to Rock n' Roll I love all kinds of music and genres. My kids are now learning it from me. When they ask for some Jimi, Queen, or Allman brothers, it makes you proud.
Folks, it just doesnt get much better than this

Cool !love this too also Mexican saludos !
it's not easy for a rock song to reach utter perfection. This one did.
That's because it's not Rock.
@@MeadeSkeltonMusic I beg to differ. what would u call it?
It is Rock! It's called southern Rock..trust me I don't like country music mainly because their voices get annoying unlike this masterpiece
Only a Beethoven string quartet bests the aural layering found in this masterpiece. Pure genius.
Its boogie woogie country musac
Have fun in the next life and make some more music!

I remember parking at a Walmart, and this homeless guy on the sidewalk heard it and started singing along. So me and some random homeless guy were essentially karaokeing while people drove by.

How old are you young lady? 8f you don't mind me asking. Nothing nefarious. Just curious and wouldn't mind recommending some more great songs. My daughter is 18 and I always send her links to songs I like and I hope she will like. Or at least learn to appreciate one day. She'sy pride and joy. She's graduating as Valedictorian of her senior class this year and will be off to college in the fall. She's been through so much and has battled through every bit of it.

Man that guitar between 3:44 and 4:26 just invigorates me with energy. This is a great song to run to, whenever I get to that part at 3:44 I don't care how tired I am, I feel the adrenaline surge through my body and I push like I just started the run.
I absolutely LOVE the second verse lyrics, speaking of New Orleans...and I can totally see it too!!
How many guitars were used in that riff???
@@tealx8462 I hear four. Rythym, melody and two distinct solos.

Thanks!
A bit out there but if you want an adrenaline rush try some System Of A Down, there’s a really neat 3 hour mix that has their songs fade in and out. Granted all of them arent good but it helps me stay up after my 12hr shifts. Another thing I can say is for most of their songs their endings are the best part. My favorite right now is Suggestions, and Question!
The guitar solo is wonderful .... a cold beer for the band .... well played!!!!
