    I pulled my 78 c10 out after sitting 7yrs. Drove it as my daily for almost 2yrs. 38miles one way for work every day.. I love the way that old truck drives and the smell is a one of a kind. I've had that truck for 20yrs

    You did way better than most starting a carbureted motor on a cold day. Holley has a dvd on tuning a carburetor that is really good. If your carburetor has an electric choke, pump the pedal a couple times then push it to the floor, let off then start it. That will engage the choke and it should fire right up and high idle until it warms up.

    Great job Lauren! She can handle that Big Block 454 like a Champ! 🏆 I have owned a 540ci Big Block ‘69 Nova SS for 8 years and my wife has never driven it. She said it scares her too much to drive it! 🤣

  • @aquabluepyro
    @aquabluepyro Před 4 lety +1

    Assuming an electric and not manual choke, push the gas pedal to the floor, let off 100%, push the gas pedal halfway down then start the car. Even in cold weather it should fire right up. My '84 Caprice was carbureted and it always fired up faster than any fuel injected vehicle I've ever owned. You're making me miss driving an old car driving this thing around! I'm going to have to go get an old car now!

    I bought a new 1969 Camaro when I got out of the Marine Corps in July 1969 . Had a 350 ci engine with an automatic trans, my new wife couldn’t drive a stick. The car was nothing fancy vinyl roof, rally wheels am radio. Total out the door price $2800 tax and plates included. They had a 1969 ZL1 Camaro in the showroom with no radio, no heater, rubber mats no carpet window sticker over $7,000. The engine alone was $4,000 option. More $’s than a new Corvette. Was a great time to live in Detroit when it came to cars.

    The first thing your gonna want to do is upgrade the head and tail lights. When I had mine I almost got rear ended cause the person behind me didn't see my brake lights. Driving at night is a joke with the yellow tinted old sealed beams. You have to go to Classic Industries, they carry a few nice conversion kits to put bright whites in it, makes a world of difference. While you're there get some LED tail lights, keep the car safe. Good luck bro

    No one wore those lap belts and I think they were a dealer option for the safety minded. We used to drive around with the kids on our laps or playing in the back seat. If you had to hit the brakes hard the kids would wind up on the floor or under the dash. Crazy to think about it now a days.
