Another thing to do for finding a decent spot for down lights, buy a strong magnet and find the screws in the board. Leave each magnet on each joist snd you can see where is safe and where is not to drill

great video guys. I can highly recommend a flexible usb camera. I bought one off Amazon, probably about £30 and it has been a godsend. it has something metallic in it a bit like that wire you did so when you bend it, it holds the shape. Unlike the camera you strapped to the rod, the one I have is about 6mm diameter max, so you can drill a little borehole, shove it through and you can have eyes wherever you need.👍

When blind drilling in to ceilings always do one thing first. 1. Always know where the water & gas shutoff is for the house. "If/when" you hit a water line you will be really happy you know where the shutoff is while water is flooding the ceiling and floor. Ask me why I preach that! You never know what is lurking above that ceiling that was just installed in an area it shouldn't be. 😎👍⛈

Smoke detectors should preferably be fitted to the ceiling in a central position and at least 300mm from any wall or light fitting. Check the manufacturers instructions carefully when deciding where to position them - particularly if you are going to mount them on the wall. I can't understand the obsession with downlighters. If you'd installed the same number of pendants, using LED bulbs with the same rating as the GU10s (or whatever you used there), the rooms would all be far brighter due to the reflected light from the ceiling. Downlighters simply shine intense pools of directional light rather than well diffused light.

You're so damn right. The lighting situation is even worse now, in my opinion. White ceiling and walls all over the place but dark flooring. Why on earth do they need to have downlight-based lighting only?

Jesus Christ, always expect a pendant to be screwed to some wood, I suspect you took screws out of it? What about using a small metal bit as a pilot to check for wood, thats my top tip 🙄

What's Pythagoras theorem got to do with anything here? To be honest your maths knowledge seems pretty poor for a spark.

@Killian Franz I'm not an angry fighter behind my screen, I'm an electrician with 40 years experience who despairs at these so called professionals more interested in filming themselves than doing a proper job.
Anyway, your explanation doesn't make sense, he's not using a triangle, just a straight line.

@Killian Franz The definition of Pythagoras Theorem.
The area of the square whose side is the hypotenuse is equal to the sum of the areas of the other two sides.. This is for right angle triangles only.
So, oh knowledgeable one, explain in detail where Pythagoras comes into it? Surely he should have said trigonometry?
