  • Óró sé do bheatha abhaile (Cover) by Seth Staton Watkins
"Óró, sé do bheatha abhaile" is a traditional Irish song. Though it predates the Irish War of Independence, it was adopted by the cause in the early 20th century and is thus known as an Irish rebel song. Óró is a cheer, while sé do bheatha 'bhaile means "welcome home", or "your birthright is back home".
I have always loved this tune and I am glad to be able to bring it to the Irish music lovers of CZcams. Please excuse my pronunciation, I am not a native Irish speaker nor have I yet learned to speak the language later in life. Perhaps one day!
    Lyrics:
’Sé do bheatha, a bhean ba léanmhar
do bé ár gcreach tú bheith i ngéibhinn
do dhúiche bhreá i seilbh meirleach
's tú díolta leis na Gallaibh.
    Chorus:
    Óró, sé do bheatha bhaile
    óró, sé do bheatha bhaile
    óró, sé do bheatha bhaile
    anois ar theacht an tsamhraidh.
Tá Gráinne Mhaol ag teacht thar sáile
    óglaigh armtha léi mar gharda,
Gaeil iad féin is ní Francaigh ná Spáinnigh
's cuirfidh siad ruaig ar Ghallaibh.
    Chorus
A bhuí le Rí na bhFeart go bhfeiceam
muna mbeam beo ina dhiaidh ach seachtain
    Gráinne Mhaol agus míle gaiscíoch
    ag fógairt fáin ar Ghallaibh.
    Chorus
    Translation:
Hail, oh woman, who was so afflicted,
It was our ruin that you were in chains,
Your fine land in the possession of thieves...
While you were sold to the foreigners!
    Chorus:
    Oh-ro, welcome home
    Oh-ro, welcome home
    Oh-ro, welcome home
    Now that summer's coming!
Grace O'Malley is coming over the sea,
    Armed warriors as her guard,
Only Gaels are they, not French nor Spanish...
and they will rout the foreigners!
    Chorus
May it please the King of Prodigy that we might see,
Although we may live but one week after,
Grace O'Malley and a thousand warriors...
    Dispersing the foreigners!
    Chorus

Just a question, but at which moments do you feel it's right to play a song with words in it? I always thought if there was music with words it would detract from the actual game as at that point we're just listening to music, but if there are ways to incorporate it I would love to hear about em

    • @Jackaboy1476
      @Jackaboy1476 Před 10 měsíci

@@theapproachingstorm2133 you could use it to set the scene of a tavern or inn, you could say there’s a bard playing in an open market, and then make the bard a possible quest giver so they can listen to the music as an ambience or also turn the song into a story that plays into the campaign. Tons of possibilities.
