  • This is a brief introduction to the Edge Pro Apex, and Professional Model knife sharpening systems. The Apex and Professional model produce the same edge on a knife, but the two machines do have some distinct differences that you should know about if you're considering purchasing one.
    The Apex is smaller and more portable and is preferred for home use and travel.
    The Professional Model is bigger and heavier and is recommended for anyone who is starting a sharpening business.
    We have a handful of accessories that you may find helpful just depending on what type of knives you sharpen.

    I have never seen this before, it looks awesome!
    Not like that Lanskys system where it's nearly impossible to mount the blade twice in the same position or move it further down the blade in the exact same angle.

      Thanks, it's nice to be back! I was out bow hunting for most of the month of September and it's taking me a while to get back in the swing of things.

      @@NORTHWESTKNIFEGUY I did - I managed to get a small 4 point bull in Eastern Oregon. After that I went to Idaho on another hunt where I saw a lot of elk but I just couldn't close the deal.

      Thanks, Scott. We had a room that was being used for storage, I moved some stuff around and made myself a little youtube studio. I'm hoping it will make it a little easier to produce content.

    Are these sharpeners good for sharpening thick blade knives such as the Buck 184 or the Gerber BMF? If so I am very interested in purchasing the pro model.

      Some knives that I think this viewed would like to see how to sharpen.

      What kind of knives?

      Edge Pro Inc. the buck reaper. It has a slight recurve, not very drastic like a kukri but enough it may be difficult. With this type of blade seemingly becomes more popular how do we tackle it on the edge pro?

      Edge Pro Inc. for reference here is a link. It’s a ever so slight curb and being that it’s long it may pose a challenge. www.bladehq.com/item--Buck-Reaper-Fixed-Blade-Knife-Black--41387

    Are all sharpening stones the SAME thickness so the sharpening angle remains the same after changing the stones?

    You need a clamp to keep the knife in place.

    • @EdgePro
      @EdgePro  Před 4 lety +2

      Clamps work great on some knives and not so great on others. Most of our customers already own clamp based systems, have discovered their limitations, and want to get away from the clamp. Some of the earliest Edge Pro prototypes back in the 80's had clamps.

    You need to make a system that allows both sides to be sharpened at same time like the wicked edge.

    • @EdgePro
      @EdgePro  Před 4 lety +11

      Thanks for the feedback Bob. This way is a lot safer and allows flexible blades to remain supported so they don't flex on you while being sharpened. We also like that when you sharpen one side at a time the burr will only form on one side of the knife so it's easier to tell where the dull spots are and when it's time to progress to the next stone.
