With my 1400 Eldorado, i have adjusted the valve position both ways. Moving the valves by turning the back tire and by putting the bike in neutral and turning the engine over with a socket on the front of the engine. I so much prefer using the socket as my eyes are just a few inches away from the valves. Also, i don't have to jack up the back tire. Nice to know if while one is touring and can be done easily from camp.

When adjusting the valves, do you need to do anything with the cam chain tensioner?

Have you replaced the spark plug wires which some say easily crack and cause problems? If so, which brand did you get please?

I saw you had a bit of trouble turning the wheel there. Did you remove the spark plug on the other side too before you started working on this side?
If you haven't, try it next time... it's far easier to get through the compression stroke without there being any compression :)

why not use the crank bolt under the cover while in neutral?
