If the US government was like "let's put everyone who doesn't have 2 kids by age 30 into a higher tax bracket", the birth rate would explode.
It would be a pretty big eff you to infertile people, people with chronic health issues, people in inheritable disease genes etc. Not to mention, women sacrifice more for carrying children than men, so it would make sense to compensate them more for it too. As having kids not an equal task for men and women, so equal reward doesn't make sense. Not to mention, the tax benefits should only count if the parent is actually raising the kids. So that we don't get dead-beat dads who just get women pregnant for tax benefits.

It was interesting with Japan's culture effectively incentivizing overwork and extreme competition until the 90s and then when the economy crashed, people just worked harder to try and make it grow again which didn't work.
It still doesn't. Japan has a lot of underlying issues. Most of us just look at Japan for the anime, unique culture, food but there are a ton of issues that need to be addressed.
Ironically, Iceland has had the highest birth rate in Europe until very recently, regularly being around 2.0 births per woman. One of the most developed, feminist, and socially liberal countries had higher birth rates than le trad based Poland.
If you go hard enough on the sexual revolution you get your birth rates back. Kinda like how if you go far enough left you get your guns back (anarcho-commies love guns). It being stuck in the middle that hurts.

They have a crap ton of people, third richest country in the world, massive ammount of exports (especially in tech) and especially cultural exports, as well as a relatively well equipped military (backed by the U.S.). I know they also have an aging population, incredibly difficult emmigration policies and insane work culture, but still, can't deny their great influence on the world today

My only gripe is that immigration is SUPER overhyped. In America, immigrants are used to keep wages low by the corporations. Instead of paying people a decent wage, you just import a shitton of people willing to work at the lesser wage. They are also willing to squeeze more people into a single house, so there's no incentive to build more housing and solve the housing crisis. Gotta keep the wagies renting.
I literally have nothing against the immigrants as people, they're honestly more American than some of the people we already have. The problem is that we clearly aren't taking care of the people who are already here, and I don't feel we should bring in more people until we are.

In Hungary, the government has recently announced a program where if you have one child they will provide you with the equivalent of 58k EiIUR in a low interest loan. If you have two, that loan is paid off. If you have a third within a certain number of years, last I checked the mother pays zero taxes the rest of her life, and the husband has some discount.. 58k is enough to buy a damn good house anywhere that isn't Budapest or Debrecen.

In your defense (the rest of post soviet) the corruption didn`t really reach Estonia quite as deeply.
For example, a standard practice in many (most?) sovhos/kolhos in the depts of russia was that when 3 new harvesters were brought, they were dissassembled never to be seen again. So the (perpetually drunk) workers were working with the old rundown machines.
In the one in my village the practice was that the 3 harvesters were dissassembled because the factory workers were sh*t and two working ones were made with the rest put to spare parts.

Tbh, my country (Israel) is currently the only first world country to have a high birth rate (at around 3.0). It's just that it is much more caused by the Ultra-Orthodox Jews, who lived in somewhat poorer quality than someone like myself, a Secular Jew.
