Thank you so much for generously sharing. I last travelled on the cliff railway over 50 years ago. The fare was 2d (pre-decimalisation) to go down and 3d to go up. I am looking forward to a return later this summer. Happy days!
Hi John.Enjoy your trip, perhaps it will cost a little more than 2 1/2p for the return trip these days.Don't forget to have a ride on the miniature railway as well....Regards Chris
Riding this on a day out to saltburn was always a big treat as a kid! If we were good we could get it up the cliff at the end of the day instead of having to walk it, tired after a day of playing on the beach!
@@wooltman I always preferred going down! It felt like it was faster and much more exciting! Going up was slow and very creaky, some of those noises got pretty scary sometimes 😂
Very interesting. Looks like it's one of those that work by means of water ballast. I love the ship's wheel that controls the whole thing. Love the stained glass too!
It's tiny! But gives you a life perspective going down..especially on a windy day. Lot like The Tardis without interior refurbishment, basic but brilliant.
I believe it is still running, there are a few of these cliff railways around our coast,we have also rode them at Hastings and Scarborough. Thanks for watching and commenting on my video.Regards Chris.
There is a car park next to the M/Railway,i'm sure they have blue badge spots....Then just a short walk to the Cliff Railway.....Check before you go to see if it is operating....Cheers Chris
***** We were at the Harrogate show so we thought we would see if we could have a ride on the miniature railway this year.We nearly came down to the NYMR to see if we could see you but never had time.
I haven't seen that Cliff Railway working before Chris, is the miniature Railway still running? I vaguely remember it suffered during some storms a while back......Best wishes...Bob
Robert Masterman We found this one by chance while waiting for the railway to open,Check out the video of the railway when you have time Bob should be on now.Best wishes..Chris.

Lovely memories! Better to ride up than to walk.

Totally agree! Great little cliff railway.
Interesting video! I'd love to visit this one along with the miniature railway and the standard gauge line Middlesbrough.
I try and visit these cliff railways when we can..Hastings has a high one if you get the chance to ride it.
@@wooltman I'll try and do the Hastings Cliff Railway along with the two or three? miniature railways in the town!
@@HenrysAdventures We still need the Aberystwyth cliff railway, next time were in town.
@@wooltman I did that one back in 2009. As far is I'm aware its the only cliff railway which has varying gradients.
That old man has been hand winding those trams up and down for decades.
LOL!
Cool, I rode one the Aberystwyth Cliff Railway in Wales in the 1980's
