The stain is a oil based stain by Miniwax. Color is dark walnut.

As you can see, I only wore socks and tried to not walk on with anything that would leave prints. So not sure what would be best. I would try not to have any debris on floor before staining. Maybe even use a handheld vacuum and sweep up any loose dust and particles.

What type of stain are you using? What is the product you're using? Wood stain, thinned down latex paint, glaze?
Thanks for your time and the great videos!

How long did it take for stained floor to dry since it was an Oil based stain? It's been 3 days since I've stained mine & still not sure if it's ready for traffic, also used oil based stain.

I let mine dry overnight and then applied the Poly the next day. The poly dries quickly and then seals the stain so you don't have to worry about it being "ready" for traffic. I would never do only stain on the floors without the poly added as a top coat. The poly also acts as a protective barrier for wear and tear. :)

Did it ever dry for you Angelina? I did mine three days ago and am wondering it it will ever not be tacky to the touch so that I can add Poly. I'm worrying about it. My whole floor could be ruined if I can never add Poly and I've spent so many hours working on it.

question as I am about to embark on this step....the dust footprints....they are already there because once the paper was dry, we would walk on it to get to and fro. are you saying the stain will adhere differently where there is dust? i thought about taking an air compressor to the areas and blowing away the dust...or a wet paintbrush...or more glue/water mix. thoughts?

What is it you are using to apply the stain...is that a dust mop like broom ???
