I spend a bit of time programming in ReactOS half a year ago. The SDL library works fine.

Just gave it a whirl. BSOD-ed easily when I tried to use a newer Opera. I like the project, but it should have aimed to support the newer software as well.

The amount of compatible software is rapidly increasing, and it already supports some newer software such as blender iirc. Hopefully more modern browsers work in the next release!

I ran it on bare metal a few times. Not very stable. Interesting experience to say the least :p

Of course it did. That is expected. You should only give it a whirl to test and highlight bugs - It is NOT ready for use being only in Alpha stage at the moment.

Наверное, это круто для гиков. Зачем настолько усложнять жизнь, чтобы делать свою ось. Не такие как все что ли, в чем смысл

Are you a bit dim? The o/s can be skinned or themed to look how you want it to. The look and feel does not make an o/s, that is merely the GUI. Only a fool confuses the two. Only Windows prevents you from customising and instead gives you a new GUI for each release to fool you into thinking you have a new o/s. You can put any GUI on ReactOS you choose, that is how it should be.

@@yereverluvinuncleber My comment was about the GUI (look). Nowhere did I imply I was talking about the OS.
If you want to be an alternative to windows, start with a better gui which doesnt look like it just came from a time capsule.
Those who don't care about windows can already use wine and linux.

Yes, your comment was about the GUI, an unnecessary comment which just served to show your knowledge to be trivial. Anyone with any sense would simply not have commented if they had understood that a GUI is a mere theme that is loaded by the user and that the default theme will always be the NT5 theme as ReactOS aims to be NT5 compatible. Why comment negatively on that? Your knowledge has now increased but I am sure your saltiness is at just the same level.

Ha, yes, same level of intelligence as your first comment.
