- Welcome to a behind-the-scenes look at some of the camera gear rigs that I’ve been using on the channel. Looking for the best CZcams camera for vlogging? Want to know how to set up a GoPro camera rig for car? Best phone vlog accessories? I’ll share my GoPro rig, my favorite mobile phone accessories to shoot awesome footage, and my favorite ‘novelty camera’, the Insta360 One X camera.
Then I’ll show you my current favorite go-to camera for CZcams content: the Sony ZV-1.
I review the Sony ZV-1, which is a fantastic CZcams/Vlogging camera for many reasons, which I address in this video. But one design flaw has me perpetually frustrated: The tripod mount blocks the battery and memory card door. My solution?... The SmallRig Camera Cage. After attaching the cage, my Sony ZV-1 Vlog rig is by far my favorite.
The SmallRig Camera Cage 2938 is designed for Sony ZV1 Camera, providing additional protection, a better grip and a fantastic selection of 1/4-20 accessory mounts. I’m hoping this will allow me to mount my camera to a tripod and ALSO allow me to easily swap out the batteries. Does this product deliver? This video answers that question and more!

This was a perfect vid Mike. I just literally bought everything and then some using your links. Keep up the great work!
Hi Brian, that’s awesome! I’m here for you when you power up and want to start doing some cool stuff. 😎👍🏻🔥
Thanks for Another interesting video. When I was young I thought I was a great photographer. Then I got a camera for my birthday, and found out I wasn’t.
LOL, Lj, I think everyone can be a good photographer. Maybe you just haven’t found the right subject! If you can look at a photograph and appreciate what makes it good, then I believe you can point the camera at anything and move around until it pleases you. Never give up! :-)
Hi Mike. Great video! Are you a drummer? Do I see an electric drum set back there?
Yes, I turned my jam area into my CZcams ‘photo studio’. I have keyboards, guitars and amps and the Roland electronic drum kit all in one place so you can turn everything on with one switch. It’s the best therapy! 😁
I was literally just going to text you and ask about a camera and I saw this. Missed the noti somehow.
Hi Brian! Several months back Google changed the algorithm for notifications, and now you have to go back to channels you subscribe to and turn on the solid bell, instead of the hollow bell, if you want to get all notifications. Otherwise they decide who and what you see. It’s driving me crazy because people are always telling me they didn’t get my notification! AnyWho, happy to chat with you about cameras.
P.S. i’ve missed seeing your comments on my recent videos! The Lally column removal video launched last week, and I would appreciate the traffic because I think it needs a jumpstart, lol.
@@MikeFyxdt I'm going to run it again while I work outside shortly
That’s awesome! Did you ever get to cut the lawn?
@@MikeFyxdt LOL no but I did cut down some trees and tree branches so made some progress. :o)
First!😁
Wassup Mr. Carguy!!!
Does this mean my notifications are actually working?! Yay!!!
@@MikeFyxdt Yep! Got the Notification!! Yeaaahh!!!
Mike, you have just proven Marshall McLuhan 's communication theory in your video: "The medium is the message". 👍
Marc, interesting… I just read/watched a bunch of media on Marshall McLuhan. His teachings were definitely prophetic of the Internet, which I see as a natural extension of the television generation. Since CZcams is essentially television, that’s probably my comfort zone compared to the other social media channels, since TV is so ingrained in my generation. You definitely put me on an interesting path of thought this morning!
@@MikeFyxdt Marshall McLuhan is well known among my fellow Canucks. Not sure beyond our border. Exporting Canadiana whenever I can. I figured you might enjoy his material as your video made me think of his famous statement. Have you heard of him before?
@@marcperras9072 I saw Annie Hall when it was in theaters. Since then, no. 😁
@@MikeFyxdt Annie Hall... I had to look that up. I vaguely remember hearing about that movie years ago. Not sure of the connection but I guess I'll watch the movie to find out.
@@marcperras9072 I won’t discourage you from watching Annie Hall, but it may be an acquired taste. Here is a link to the Marshall McLuhan cameo appearance… I don’t think it’s too much of a spoiler if you want to give the movie a try. :-) czcams.com/video/9wWUc8BZgWE/video.html

hi 🌹 good morning ji 🌹 very nice and beautifulllllll 🌹 awesm super 🌼✳️☘️☘️🌺☘️🌺☘️ very good video 💥💥🌴💥🌴💥🌴💥🌴
Hi Mike, thank you for sharing. How do you switch from camera to camera? I'm new at this and want to start vlogging.
@Joy Four - That's great that you want to get started vlogging! Your question is a really good one. To switch between 2 different cameras, I use editing software (Adobe Premiere) which lets me drag 2 video clips onto the timeline. With them both selected, there is a "synchronize" option, which aligns them, based on the audio. Once synchronized, you can switch between the 2 sources as it is playing, and the software does the cuts for you.
I use a more manual approach, hand cutting the tracks once they are synchronized. I find it easiest to leave the main video on track 1, and the 'b' video on track 2, above it. Then I fade the b-roll (track 2) in and out, revealing track 1. That's the gist. Alternately you can 'cut' the a- and b-videos, and then put them next to each other on the same timeline. That makes it easier to do fancier transitions, like pushes, cross zooms and 3D effects.
This answer is just the tip of the iceberg. Do some searching on the phrase "A-B editing" for the software you're interested in, and I'm sure you'll find lots of great instruction. I hope this helps, and that you'll come back and share something you've made! Thanks so much for watching, and happy shooting!
@@MikeFyxdt Thanks again Mike! I can't wait to get started. I'm so excited. Have a great day!
