Of course, there is so much more to the process than I am showing here, and honestly, most of the challenging problems were never that flashy or exciting (I'm talking MOTION BLUR issues.. oh my luurdddd!!!)
But I hope ya'll find this illuminating and entertaining!

I didn't know Kosh animated Star Wars fan films.
Not only was it an incredible fan film that visually rivaled most high-budget productions, but this is also a genuinely great making-of video that actually gives a clear view into your process. And in just under 7 minutes! I really appreciated seeing the test footage at the start, too. Showing the software used for each step is an excellent detail that more productions should include.

As someone who's tried (and often failed) to use most of the programs you used when making this, all I can really say is that your skill level at each all those tools is beyond impressive! Well done, seriously.
My thoughts, exactly. I’ve dabbled in most of these and besides the consistent progress I continue to make in Blender, I’ve hit an unmovable wall in most of the programs shown. As a proficient photo and video editor, I never thought I could be so lost in creative software, but here we are lmao. Dude destroyed it.
You've earned my awe, my subscription, and my respect.
My machine is crying out in pain because it spent a moment contemplating rendering all of that.

@@Mac14329 Rogue One was a welcome surprise and is one of my fav star wars movie. But there wasn't much difference compared to legend story. Mando on it's own isn't that good if you're not familiar with the sw universe.
@@Bamelin01 I'll admit, I wasn't too keen on The Mandalorian at first, but I've grown to really like it. Helped me get more into the franchise, actually. Especially the season 2 finale.
@@Mac14329 Great to hear! Personally I love the EU of star wars, like the backstory of Han Solo. But after buying star wars disney throw huge parts of the plot away or rewrote it completly. And the sequel triology was a huge letdown :/
It's amazing how what would originally take an entire production crew to develop 20 years ago can now be animated by just one person. This level of animation is top-level and shouldn't be ignored. The offer is still up if you want to help us work on our saga.
This probably took hundreds and hundreds of hours of work, but the result it's amazing 💯
This level of skill combined with AI? The next generation of movies are going to be amazing

Absolutely amazing film! One of my favorite eras of Star Wars is when the rebellion reorganizes into the new republic, and we are kind of starved with information about the battle of Coruscant. You provided amazing content on both! I love your work and I hope you can continue to make amazing projects like this one!

If I had the money and capability to do so, I would. But unfortunately I can’t since I don’t even have a business to begin with, much less money to hire.
Pretty damn amazing what one person can do nowadays. Thank you for your hard work, I enjoyed the hell out ff it. Got goosebumps when the X-Wings formed up flying past the title... which is more emotion than I've felt watching the entirety of Obi-Wan so far.

The amount of work to the details is scary good, my dream someday is to make a CIS battle if I can somehow learn how to animate eventually. B1's, B2 battle droids, Droideka's, Hellfires, AAT's, Munificents, Providences, Lucrehulks, Vultures, Hyena's.
Ha. My little laptop would fry if I used all those programs.
I just make small animations using Blender.

I was wondering though, what function do you use for the mass of background ships and dogfights? Is it a physics function for all the background fighters?
Also I love that you included the Arquitens and the Victory Class SDs in the imperial fleet
I had to make the system completely in Houdini. I wouldn't call it physics per se but the starfighters did use some boid-like properties if you know what that is.
@@nobleengine I do! I've never done much with Boids in Blender but I know what they are. Is it particle instancing?
@@nobleengine I was wondering if you used boids for the ships! Definitely opens my eyes to more creative uses of it!

Ae: Yes.
The harnessing of every resource available to you is tremendously inspirational. Even this breakdown is above what I can fathom lol. I wanna say compositing was the best part but really, you killed everything. The story, the flow, the execution and melding of VFX workflows, the sound…it would’ve been incredible for an entire team as a fan project, but that it was just one person makes it unbelievable. Well freaking done.

Not gonna lie, a bunch of the shots shown here remind me a whole lot of the Rogue Squadron games... gosh, Rogue Leader and Rebel Strike really need multiplatform rereleases nowadays (with the latter probably getting a lot of fixes and improvements).

Beautiful extensive work. CZcams actually recommended your short film to me before I saw this video. It was very well done. The use of the DeepFake to enhance the facial animation was clever touch.
This is both inspiring to watch and exhausting to contemplate.
Impressive work man, loved watching the final product, but seeing these making of is always satisfying to watch, and seeing some of the technics and even the actors doing the acting was really neat. Great job you did there man.

I absolutely loved that fan film but the only thing I think would have made some of the work easier(in terms of asset usage) would have been to use some fog for the city like we see in Star Wars so it seems like there are clouds or just fog in the city
