Traffic light offenses being cut also puts a proper context to Joe being bothered so much when Vito runs over red lights.

The respect system or at least parts of it is still used in the final game. NPCs will begin to show more and more respect towards Vito throughout the story. You can hear peds apologize to Vito when you hit them and they even recognize you around the second half of the story. This is in contrast to early in the game when the peds curse at Vito and/or generally more hostile and disrespectful.
And what I love the most is that in bars and even hot dog vendors on the street they start calling you Mr. Scaletta once you join the mafia
That's just fixed behavior triggered by how far you are in the story though, it's not dynamic.

We need a proper full remake with all the cuts and more included of this legendary game! It's so underrated and good as it as but could be even better.
They had the opportunity to do it with mafia 2 remastered or atleast add some of it but they didn't which is frustrating

For me, the subway system was the weirdest thing they removed in my opinion. It was so close to done! Such a shame so much content was cut from a great game.
For what its worth there was a subway system that worked in GTA IV and as far as I can recally nobody I've ever spoken to used it. Not a fun way to travel in an open world game tbh.
@@tallesttree4863 the taxi system in gta 4 was also not the most fun way of getting around, and yet these small details somehow had a way of breathing life and believability into these video game worlds. Liberty city in GTA 4 was one of the most realistic looking video game cities in my opinion. So many nice small details! Made it feel like a real place.

The taxi in GTA4 can skip the distance, which is the best way to travel, and Mafia 2 also has a taxi system, but it has been cut. So the Mafia series is driving in addition to driving, and you can take the light rail for 1, but the remake is cut. . . .
I only have 2 things to say,
1. What an absolute dedication to data mining this person has done to find out unreleased stuff.
2. This game can be restored to it's original glory by Mr Sergey 1940's Mods!

There were more:
- there was more missions in Italy
- Vito and his relationship with Monique (ability to go to the cinema)
- huge countryside (seen from Vinci mansion path)
- trains and subway
- keeping weapon in car trunk
- forklift
- mysterious printery
- vito was able to read newspappers(so many newsstands)
- using a taxi as a passenger
Wow! For a game that released in 2010, we still uncover and find cut contents. This game should have the cut content input in the final version... Sad they destroyed an amazing game

@@LikeAChameleon what I mean't by "destroyed" is they removed the cut contents itself, when it's supposed to be in the game. Nonetheless I still enjoy Mafia 2 up to this day, it's amazing game. But it'll be x10 more amazing with all the cut contents input in the game :)
@@revthebutcher You're right. I'm just upset I started the game with the Defective Edition. Ruining my Experience. Man these are the times I would want a PC so I could play the Original with some mods to be better than the Defective Edition. Plus Gamepad detection.
They never destroyed it, even if they removed so much from the game. The game still has a wide community and is loved by many people all over the world.

I remember a long time ago reading a huge percentage of Mafia 2 was cut. It was still the most immersive game of it's time imo with all the cut content. Imagine what could've been if all the content wasn't cut.
I think red dead redemption was more immersive I think they both released in 2010 but this game was still up there for me, I've replayed it a few times as it's so short but I wish they had added the cut content to the remastered
My issue with MII was the pacing of the story, like so many missions in the span of a couple days especially in the latter end of the campaign, I would’ve preferred more missions to let the story breathe out y’know

They also cut a lot of story missions, including some missions during WW2 on Sicily, some side missions (some missions were reworked and added into DLC´s). There was also possibility to have dog or race at Empire Bay racing circuit.
Thank fuck they cut the racing. I doubt they could do a good racing mission

For me, Joe’s Adventures, The Betrayal of Jimmy and Jimmy’s Vendetta are kinda a Freeride games of Mafia 2.
People blame Hanger 13 for the repetitive gameplay of Mafia 3, but these three DLCs always make me think maybe that's 2K Czech's plan for Mafia 3 as well.

Yeah, I've always felt Mafia 2 is one of the best games ever made with the worst DLC ever made.
@@ittskabeer7285 They were incredibly bad dlc's the characters were the highlight of the main game but theres hardly any cutscenes in the dlc and gameplay was stale and repetitive.

If you're driving with Joe, and you run through a red light, he makes a comment about it. Just further proof that feature was supposed to carry over from Mafia 1.
I wish they did the epilogue endings cause i especially liked the news stories about the Falcone killing. I feel like with the story and all the cut content mafia 2 could’ve been the best in the franchise! I was hoping they would’ve added a lot of it in the DE…..guess not 🤦🏻♂️
i think we are talking about different developers for the 1st vs DE release. but yes, it is a shame. outside the story, which would have been more complex if you could have multiple things you could choose from - there is that emptiness outside missions. it's only animated probably by Joe, which idk if he appears outside of missions at all. it's been awhile since I played the game. the story is fine, but if it had choices that actually affected the story in some way. and the fighting mechanics were bad.. even in Gta SA is better. and we are talking here about a man who was a soldier, but he has the same fighting skills as the rest of the people. not that Mafia 3 is a step up, but they should've delayed it if they needed more time. better that way than to be sorry. at least it is playable, not like today's standards

Speaking of cut weapons I always thought it was odd that you couldn’t get an M1A1 Thompson anywhere except off cops you kill or off one or two enemies in missions. I feel there was even a space for them to be sold in normal gun shops.

@@ballkicker2391 The 1928 model can but not the M1A1. The M1A1 can only be obtained from some enemies in a couple missions and killed cops when Vito has a full wanted level. Its the only weapon in the entire game not sold at any location

The interior camera reminds me of a glitch, while switching camera angle, I was glitched into a middle backseat view sometimes that proves that Vito can supposedly sit as a passenger
Good observation, you’re correct Vito could sit as a passenger and shoot out the window. You can re-enable it with mods.

Imagine if hanger 13 made Mafia 4 with proper funding time,all of these cut contents and learnt from Mafia 3s mistakes, It wouldve been the best game literally ever!
If they ever do remake Mafia 2, i would love to see them implement most of the cut content from the original. They could probably even find a way to implement the multiple endings without contradicting Vito's role in Mafia 3.
At this point, i'm kind of hoping Mafia 4 will be made using an all-new engine, which can then be used for a Mafia 2 remake. I mean, i didn't mind that the Mafia 1 remake reused Mafia 3's engine, but they should definitely upgrade.
Yeah totally agree, some of the leaked cut content sounded great and a remake would look amazing on a newer engine for the ps5

I find Rockin Ricky Fox' complete change in attitude during the Falcone newsbreak pretty impressive. Cool character development, even if it's only minor.
I would love another Mafia game with the free roam, plus the beautiful engine behind Mafia 1 Definitive Edition, and the story and gameplay style of Mafia 2!

I know that this rather impossible but do you think if mafia fans could write some kind of letter to 2K signed by hundreds of hundreds of people to remake this game with cut content? That would be amazing (and in my opinion our only chance to get what we want)

Man the bat combat mode would've been great to have..they should've left it in the game or brass knuckles. I feel as If that animation when using the bat in combat is the same or at least similar to Rockstar game (Bully).
The dragstrip bar was not a location added by Joe's adventures, it is present in the base game as a fully functional bar. My first 3 years playing this game I did not have the DLCs and I regularly got drunk at that bar, lol. The bar tender eventually says something like "good luck with your cirrhosis of the liver" after you drink a certain amount.

This video is amazing. I have just finished playing Mafia 2 again and so many of the scenes felt wrong or unfinished and I couldnt quite put my finger on why. Now I know it was because it was cut.

The left over M1 Garand texture in Mafia 2 is a picture of the M1 Garand texture and is titled as such. You can replace the other rifle's texture to see the M1 Garand texture in game. I think I know more than you lol. No clue what you are arguing for, go touch some grass.
You may not be able to get free roam in the main story, but you can get it in the 3 dlc stories. Joe’s adventures and Jimmy.
I actually enjoyed mafia 1 remastered the most I wish they add more though including racing against people on the track online

Thank you for doing this. I can understand the motorcycle thing, yet i always wondered about the lack of them in all three games, given motorycles were actualy more common than cars in those times. And its pity the Gun permit was removed, given it was mentioned in the final game. And the lack of free roam is i find the biggest loss. I mean, with all the details of able to wash, repair, fuel and tune your car, able to buy clothes and food, all that you barely get the chance to in the storyline
I've had the game since it came out on 360 and bought the defenitive editions I never knew u could wash your car in mafia 2 until the defenitive edition came out

I love this game so much. Its by far my favorite game and I feel so good and immersed when Im playing it once a year in christmas time. Its such a pity how much of this game was cut and how much better it couldve been. I dont really miss stuff like the respect system but things like missing weapons, the ability to buy estate and cars and stuff like that really hurt my soul. Specially the side missions which wouldve made the game much longer.
Playing Mafia 2 again and again in autumn and christmas time is something I'm doing as well and this is my favorite game of all time.

Man, if Mafia 2 have a lot of good content removed. Who knows how many good content was removed also from Mafia 3, due to the lack of time (which I'm pretty sure that the time was much smaller than Mafia 2 development). I still remember the unused models of Lincoln being lynch by the "Southern Union", the Vietnam outfit for Donovan and his old apperiance from the "present" of 2016 and the unused mailman.
Yes I plan to make two videos like this one on Mafia 3's Cut Content so that is 20 things removed. I already compiled a list of them and there things no one knows.

12:34 I don't believe that icon to be a cork screw. I'm pretty sure that's an icon from the lock-picking mini game. It's a tumbler and a spring. However I guess they could have re-used the models for a corkscrew??? Hard to imagine a cork screw being a deadly weapon. An ice pick is much more.... traditional.

Man this game done so damn dirty by the people who wouldn’t give this dev team the time they needed. This game is already legendary and my favourite game of all time but if they had been given the time they needed I believe most of the gaming community would share my opinion. They had a chance to finally right their wrongs when they decided to release “definitive edition” but it was just a shitty reskin and one again Mafia 2 fans were left disappointed.

it had so much potential, they could of implemented missions when Vito was in ww2 and helped the sicillian mafia. Like in the very first mission how don calo came and stopped all the fighting he could of been working ffor him for a while until his discharge back to ths US

just played this game and i have to say it’s short! i thought the end of the game was the middle! i was just starting to feel like a mob guy! i was loving it! then “ joe ain’t part of the plan” and boom credits!
I freaking loved this video. Mafia 2 in its original state is my favorite single player game of all time. But knowing now, how much better it could it had been, With it seems like time from the developers, which sucks. Thank you for letting me know there is a dedicated community for this game I cherish. One of my most favorites I think they should try their best with the open world gameplay go by the vision of how your game wants to be crafted not give in to repetitive bs

In Mafia 2 You Can Only Free Roam In The Dlc's.
You can just ignore missions and play it in free roam

This kind of sad...as much as I love Mafia II, I knew it was missing content. I would always drive to Mike Bruski after missions to see if he had any jobs for me.
While I acknowledge your perspective, it's worth considering the Mafia 2 DLCs, particularly my experience with Jimmy's Revenge, where I observed the inclusion of free roam between missions. Admittedly, my playtime is limited, hindering a comprehensive discussion.
It was my favorit game on PS3 I was addicted to this game. Since the new PS Plus type i play the definitive edition on PS4 and its again a lot of fun to replay this game. I wish they will add GTA IV on PS Plus classic games because that game I want to play again too.
If we get an opening as what happens after chapter 15. Like after that line "sorry kid joe wasnt apart of our deal" in mafia 4. im almost gon tear up no cap😂😂 been playing mafia 2 since 2011 i need to fkn know what happens

Is there any evidence of a corkscrew melee weapon aside from HUD elements? At 12:40 the HUD icon shown for corkscrew appears to me to be part of the lock picking UI, rather than a corkscrew. I've seen this listed incorrectly from multiple sources. I may of course be wrong, but that's how it appears to me
That’s a good question to ask. There is no mention of “corkscrew pick” specifically in the weapons sds file but that’s how corkscrew picks look, they are spiral and used to open champagne bottles. If it was part of a lock pick then it would not be uniformly spiral half way. Lock locks have a specific look to them as shown in 12:27 top left corner.
Hello i just want to inform when you said about epilogue- at the start of game you re sitting in Martys apartment with opened book with photos and saying that story, i noticed that it have end and its on start of chapter 15, you are sitting there in same scene and telling that everything have fucked up and then you closed the book and go sleep and thats end of your monologue.
That's not a epilogue, that's a prologue.
I hope for Mafia II *Real* Definite Edition one day with most of these added...
Yeah the whole freeride thing really pissed me off. I don't remember what chapter but there is a point where you have to save 25k for something and that's how I'd just drive around and kill people. It's been ages since I've last played mafia 2. Miss it

You can find an m1 garand in later chapters if you kill a certain bartendar in the city
The corcscrew pick isn't a weapon is it? It is the texture for the lock picking mini game. Am I wrong?

I wish they kept free ride gives the game more replay value although it was somewhat added in the Jimmy and joes adventures dlc’s mafia 2 is already a great game but it could have been greater
One thing i wish was that Vito actually served 10 years in jail because that means it would be 1955 and the game could continue for a few more years making the music in the game a little more accurate
If they remake I hope they keep their original ideas and put it on there and use all the endings depending on the choice we make
Joe mentions that you can buy weapons that dont need license. So it makes sense that it was intended to be there

My biggest question is why did they remove the free ride mode in Mafia 2? Was it some kind of limitations? Or just other reasons?
Watching on go, but just having a feeling 12:50 not all "weapons" should have been weapons.
Window squeegee is used in the Hotel Room mission if I remember the name correctly.
Shovel, Flashlight, Broom, Bottle and wrench is used by the AI.
Maybe not in fight but in their hands. It is common practice to use for animation and overall ease of development
weapons object for all other hand held items forexample by AI.
Maybe even the bazooka was used in WW2 mission, don't remember each shot but I would sudgest rather than giving a player such OP weapon,
It would rather be used in the WW2 mission or missions as it should have been or not even for player but just the AI.
