Logan Paul will, without a doubt, is the reason very many kids got into wrestling since he joined WWE. He's doing an incredible job up to this point and I don't expect that to change. I hope he really sticks with it, could be one of the best heel WORLD champs of this new era in like half a decade (not even kidding).
The crazy thing is, he's surprisingly good. He looks natural in the ring. Still hate him, but props to the talent
@@TheAustinKendall they really struck gold with him. Everyone wanted to hate him. Everyone wanted him to fail. We all groaned and rolled our eyes at him.
But as unlikeable and douchy as he can be, nobody can deny that he's a natural at this. Everything he does is excellent for his role AND he's good in the ring. Even Jim Cornette is now a fan. Logan Paul has the potential to be one of the best heels we've ever seen and wrestles better than like 95% of the AEW roster.
Wanting to see Logan Paul get beat down is a good entry point for modern fans. He is the real deal when it comes to being an unlikable prick. You need that conflict in order to really have great matches.

@@steveskew1097It very rarely happens, but there have been a handful of times where titles have changed hands at house shows. Not just at MSG.
waaay back in the day (60s, 70s) almost every single title change was at a house show. PPV wasn't big yet and so the TV shows existed primarily to sell House Show tickets, with house shows being the big events.

If you're a new wrestling fan, I would suggest going on Peacock and watch the 2 greatest era's of WWE, which are the Golden Era (1984-92) and the Attitude Era (1997-2001) The Golden Era was ruled by Andre, Hogan, Savage, and Warrior, while the Attitude Era was ruled by Austin, the Rock, Foley, Kane, Undertaker, and DX.

The moment at WrestleMania 40 where the announcers said “pro wrestling is back” and Michael Cole saying “damn it I love pro wrestling” made me feel as if watching for all these years made it worth it. Seeing guys like you jumping in now and wanting to enjoy it and learn makes me so happy as a fan since about 2008. One of my best friends is into it now, and it’s such a cool feeling. Glad you got the bug!
Comments like this make me so happy. Michael coles call of loving pro wrestling actually got me emotional and made me wish I could go back 20 years and watch it all live.
So appreciative that this fanbase doesn't gatekeep and actually wants their show to grow.
@@Dporticus personally, I'm not one that likes to go back and re-watch things that have already happened (i.e. binging old shows or even past wrestling matches). I think you can get into wrestling without knowing the history because the stories are always on-going and never stop. I would say learn the history to gain some context, and you can apply that today so even more things make sense! There aren't too many better feelings than when you see a callback or get a hit of nostalgia in pro wrestling. WrestleMania 28 was the first ever PPV I was allowed to get, so that Rock-Cena staredown at WM40 made me feel like 12-year-old me again. Excited for when you get those moments for yourself on this ride!
@KUCHcburg5 I can understand that. For me I'm not really going back and watching old stuff because I need to. I'm going back and watching how current day storyline got started. So when something new catches my interest, I'll start binging how we got to this point, you know?
@@Dporticus Yeah I gotchu! There's no right or wrong way to do it. I'm of the mindset that already knowing the end results of a match or event takes a bit away from the experience. In my own experience, I couldn't watch NXT TakeOver: New York live in 2019 because I was competing at a college track meet. Before I got home, I got the main event result spoiled which took a lot of the match away from me, and that match (Adam Cole vs. Johnny Gargano) is considered one of the greatest NXT matches of all-time (one I would def recommend though).

I am a lifelong wrestling fan who has watched on and off for over 30 years and as much as i love the presentation on tv, there is absolutely nothing that can compare to the atmosphere of being inside the arena during a live show.(Especially if its not an open arena) The crowd, the pyro, the arena literally vibrating, it all just adds up to an incredible feeling and the old comment of "you can feel the electricity in the air" makes complete sense when you hear it.
Definitely an incredible experience. The one that always sticks with me was Kane's entrance when I went to a show in Nashville. I was on the first row of bleachers opposite the side of the entrance ramp, and it felt like my face was melting off. I couldn't imagine how hot and intense it was to have tickets near the stage. Those people had to feel like they were on fire.
me personally, i got into the wwe world thanks to rhea about a month ago. at that point, i've only had heard of the big names like john cena, the rock etc. i didn't even know there were female wrestlers tbh. but as i was watching rhea and charlotte at wrestlemania 39 (gotta thank the youtube algorithm for that) i knew i was hooked. the energy of both the superstars and the crowd, their gears, the athletism, the whole performance... i was captivated. that night, i binge watched every possible rhea match i possibly could find on youtube. two weeks ago, i watched wrestlemania live for the first time ever (with a friend who also got hooked up bc i wouldn't stop talking about it to them) and had a great time. don't know what possessed me to click on that video a month ago but i'm happy regardless.

When he mentioned this in the first match he saw at WM39 I couldn't help but laugh as this is a meme even within the wrestling community
The way I kayfabe that is that Cena is a modern samurai. He lives by a moral code that requires him to yell his attack before he does it. I dunno. It bothers me, too

Also a long time ago Diesel or Kevin Nash won the world title on a house show I think against Bob BackLand. It's very very rare, and only used to drive interested for the next televised event, to show anything can happen in the WWE

Yep some of my first memories is going to my dad's friends house to watch WM6. He had a rigged cable box so we went over for all the major boxing and wrestling events.
How did you stomach Cena? You didn't see a decline in in-ring quality from the product as a whole? I stopped watching in 02. I will take 80s-02.... I don't know wtf the product has become

Cena was...unique. fun but had too much tv time for my tastes. His Rumble return was epic though
Ironically enough Shinsuke actually won the NXT title at a house show after beating Samoa Joe. And Joe actually won the title earlier that year from Finn Balor at another house show.
There was also a time the new day won the tag titles at a house show. I think it was against Los matadors

@wehave_funhere I was at a house show where R-truth won the US title off of Jack Swagger years ago. I was in complete shock to see a title change. The ref than restarted the match because there was actually a rope break as 3 was hit so the celebration was short lived.

Paul London & Brian Kendrick won the World Tag Team Title's (on Raw at the time) at a House Show / WWE Live Event tour of South Africa in 2007. Won them on the 1st night of the tour and lost them on the last night of the tour about 4 days 3 days later before returning to the US for RAW.

Don’t believe it? Look at what we did between the 2014 Royal Rumble and WrestleMania XXX. We successfully managed to bully Vince into changing his creative plans and giving us what we wanted. I still think ending The Streak was Vince trying to punish the fans. Yes, Vince is/was that petty.

@@judeelaman1902 All it did was both bore and anger the crowd. That crowd booed the shit out of everything in the main event (except Roman saying “fuck it” and spearing Stephanie). By 34, the crowd was completely done with him. They hijacked the main event with booing, beach balls (remember BeachballMania?), chants about how the match sucks, chants for people not in the match, and culminating in WWE making an unprecedented decision to mute the crowd.

I've been a WWE fan my whole life, and im glad you decided to give it a chance, the storytelling, and the action is what drew me in when I was younger, and kept me a fan. I don't watch Raw and Smackdown every week religiously anymore, but always try to watch the ppvs still every month! Welcome to the club!! ❤🤘
One thing that I cannot recommend hard enough is to find a local indie fed and check out their shows. It won't be anywhere NEAR as polished as a WWE show. It won't have elaborate stages and pyro, but the atmosphere is AMAZING. It's like the difference between seeing a big touring arena band and seeing a great band playing a small local venue.
It's much more intimate an experience. Depending on the show, you'll have a better chance to meet and chat with the wrestlers. One of the best things about it, though, is seeing people grow and develop. I was following one fed for a few years, and I got to watch this one guy, Mark Davis, go from a green-as-hell rookie with a comedy babyface gimmick to a hard-as-nails beast who's gone on to trade chops with Gunther/WALTER in WXW in Germany and appear on AEW and ROH as one half of the tag team Aussie Open. I got to see Bronson Reed (as Jonah Rock) wrestle brutal matches in a bunch of small venues with maybe 200 people in the audience tops.
It's an amazing feeling.

I experienced just this after getting into wrestling about 2 years ago. Last year I had the opportunity to go to Wrestlemania with my work and I also went to a local indie promotion shows that my friend was wresting with three times. I loved Mania, possibly a once in a lifetime opportunity, and hands down he best part was the production ~ the entrances, the effects, etc. But the match was so far away, that really I was still only watching them on the screens. Meanwhile in my local shows experiencing how loud the ring from the front row, interacting with the wrestlers and the audience. It felt so good.

Very cool to see him in the big leagues.
Whats awesome about this too is you will meet some cool wrestlers and you never know who they might become later.
I can't agree with this enough. WWE is not now, nor has it ever been, the entirety of professional wrestling. The easiest to watch would be AEW, but in the age of the internet, you can watch almost anything if you want to. TNA is another promotion that's almost certainly #3 in the USA. Japan has some of the best wrestling in the world: it's most popular promotions are New Japan Pro Wrestling for the men, and World Wonder Stardom for the women. An tthere are a lon of smaller promotions all over the world that, regardless of size, put out quality wrestling. I always urge people to look beyond the thing that initially got them interested in a new hobby, because you might enjoy some of the other options even more. And even if you do like WWE the best, at least that's an actual opinion, rather than just being based on a sample size of one.

This is one of the best wrestling videos I've seen in a long time. I love hearing about how new fans got in to wrestling and how that same passion we all have gets ignited. We all watched WWE for the first time at some point in our lives, just happy to have you onboard and part of it no matter how long it took. This was a really cool perspective to hear! I think the reason so many of us lifers are excited to see the fandom growing is because there were literal decades of TV where it was just a guilty pleasure, not to be talked about around people for fear of embarrassment. The last year or so has breathed new life into the product. It's just so much fun again. Even my coworkers are asking me about it now because of all the buzz coming off of Wrestlemania. Aw man welcome aboard dude! Pro wrestling fans are awesome (most of them lol) I've been a fan since around 2000. I was around 15 and didn't have any exposure to it other than a couple friends who watched it, but of course I had people around me chanting the "that's fake" bullshit. Once I started to think for myself I found wrestling and never looked back. I hope it does for you what it did for me and gives you a way to escape all the crap that comes with life and just forget for a little while. Peace! 🙂

This video is refreshing ..in my case because I grew up on wrestling literally …i been watching every since I could Remember but I had stopped watching consistently around 2015…and only would watch around wrestlemania time every year to keep myself up to date but after WM 40 I’ve been consistent like I’m 8 years old in 2007 again 😂

That was in my hometown.
Bruno sammartino once dropped his belt to a wrestler in front of that guy's hometown crowd at a house show right in the middle of one of his extremely title reigns. The only reason it wasn't in the history books was because Bruno himself made the call in the ring and they "rematched" the next night and Bruno went over. The company pretended like the title win at the house show never even happened because there weren't any cameras rolling, but Bruno respected the guy and wanted to send the crowd home happy

As someone who lived primarily through the more dark ages of WWE, seeing it as it is now, makes it rewarding that I've come back

It was 2008 and I was 6 years old. My mom was a huge fan back in the days of WWF and she saw “Friday Night Smackdown” on the TV guide and decided to turn it on for us. Unintentionally she created a fan for life in that moment. My first introductory view of WWE was a man called The Undertaker who, at the time, held the World Heavyweight Championship. My brother and I were starstruck. Completely mesmerized by this man shrouded in darkness with supernatural powers. He’s the reason I fell in love with wrestling. My parents could never really afford to take us to many wrestling shows. A house show here or there, maybe a Smackdown thrown in, but never any PPVs or PLEs. Fast forward to 2020 and I really started to drift away from WWE. The pandemic hit and it never truly felt the same without fans in the arena (Not to mention that the product wasn’t the greatest. I felt like I had totally grown apart from wrestling, that was until 2022 when I found out that Wrestlemania was coming to Philadelphia (Close to my hometown). I made the decision then and there to start watching again, save up my pennies and hopefully get to Philly to see WM 40. Well eventually I saved enough money and got myself, my brother, and my best friend tickets. Our first ever PLE 15 years after becoming fans. We went to World at Wrestlemania, had a tailgate, really got the full Wrestlemania experience. By the time the main event rolled around, I was completely spent. Voice was gone and totally fatigued. Cody and Roman lit that stadium on fire. Quite literally brought me back to life😂But man, when that GONG hit and The Undertaker appeared….I damn near blacked out. Literally a full circle moment getting to see my childhood hero return to the event where he made a name for himself. Genuinely one of the greatest and most cherished memories of my life. With how fast and hard you’ve fallen for wrestling, my friend you are in for a hell of a ride. Enjoy every second🤙🏻

man that's awesome. 39 years watching wrestling, never been to a PPV or televised show. just a few house shows. i did get to see Eddie up close, mere feet away, like...3 feet away as he and Rey faced the Basham Brothers. my friend and i showed up late and were allowed to just go in, so we walked right up the the classic steel barricades as Eddie and a Basham were throwing hand n stuff right there. if i ever get to a televised event and Bret shows up... i would mark out for sure
Funny how at 6 years old in 2008, it was the undertaker that got you in to wrestling. For me it was at 6 years old in 1992 and the undertaker got me in to wrestling 😂😂 the longevity of that man was unbelievable
That's awesome that Undertaker was still giving kids that feeling in 2008 that he gave me in when I was a little kid in the early 90s. I got two tattoos. One for my wife (recently deceased) and one for the Undertaker.
This must be a common story. For me, it was at 6 years old watching my very first ppv with my dad; Royal Rumble 94. I hated every second of it until the casket match between Yokozuna and Undertaker. The Undertaker completely captured my imagination and I've been a fan ever since and he's been my favorite ever since. Absolutely love Taker and professional wrestling.

This is great! I might be a third category where I was a fan growing up and love watching classic matches but have not watched it in 10years. This makes me want to start watching again.
I really love how you highlighted "the people next to you are your friends for the next 5 hours" it's the thing I love most about wrestling, I walk into the room and I know I can connected with majority of the people there. Wrestling fans are amazing for that, I've been to over 100 shows and few people have ever made me feel unwelcome.
This is genuinely my same path to WWE, I watched it a bit as a kid but watched it for the first time on Wrestlemania 39. The same match too, Seth Rollins vs Logan Paul got me into wrestling
I think we're direct proof that adding someone like Logan Paul is genuinely growing the interest.
Also, I didn't mention it in the video, but my only exposure to wwe growing up was "Wrestlemania 2000" video game foe my N64 lol I played that for years without my parents knowing I had it. But never actually watched it on TV.

Love or hate him, Logan Paul is a talented and highly athletic dude who honestly impressed the hell out of me(and lots of others) in the handful of matches he has done since his first appearance. Dude has the ability and the drive so he will do well in the business

ive been watching wwe since i was a kid but i stopped watching when the pandemic hit. i started watching again right before last years royal rumble and i was IMMEDIATELY hooked again. this time around ive really grown to appreciate how amazing it all is. so much goes in to being a professional wrestler. you have to be extremely athletic while also memorizing lines and knowing how to improvise not only in a theatrical way, but also during matches. im so glad to see new people becoming fans and realizing how spectacular it all is. welcome to the fam!!!

Couple notes:
1. 99.9% chance they won't lose the title at a house show, but it HAS happened a few times.
2. Omos is hot garbage in the ring.
3. You are 100% right about merch tables. Not worth the line when you can buy so much more online. The only exception I think are the occasional city-specific merch (like when Brock Lesnar had suplex city shirts with the city's name on it).
4. Wrestling fans really are a fantastic fandom community. Welcome to it, my friend. This is the perfect time to jump in as a new fan too.

Hell yeah bro! My first foray into wrestling was during COVID while all live sports went away. Since then, I've been to Raw, SD, 2023 Royal Rumble, etc. Totally hooked!!
Lifelong wrestling fan here. Been watching since '96. Here's my take:
1) Explore other promotions. There's A LOT out there that most WWE fans won't ever even realize.
2) Go and look back at the history of wrestling. Seeing where wrestling came from is very cool. One thing you may not even realize is a ton of "regular" wrestling moves today were at one point finishers for other wrestlers. The most interesting times are probably in the late 90s, you would be shocked at what was going on back then.
People want the Attitude and Ruthless Aggression eras back. I feel the same way.
However... if we go back and watch some of those episodes of Raw from like 20-25 years ago, they couldn't do or say some of that stuff anymore on TV in this day and age. Especially as a publicly traded company. You can't show lots of blood, panties matches, men tossing women around, making jokes or negative comments about someone's gender or ethnicity, bashing a guy's head with a steel chair, grabbing asses, beating up the elderly, covering up wrestlers' addictions and real backstage fights, hitting someone with a car, all of it.
We know it's just a show and it's (mostly) scripted, but times have changed and the culture we live in wouldn't permit it on TV again. Most people don't understand kayfabe and the performance art of it.
Plus the wwe wants more of a sports tv/premium vive? I dont know how to explain it

always nice to see someone new get totally into wrestling, I'm 21, been watching since I was 4 and I remember feeling the same way you did when I first saw it, I didn't know what it was, but it was so intriguing, especially to a little kid. My uncle was the one who showed it to me one day and was explaining a bunch of history I didn't understand, but I was so into it that I wanted more. The first match I ever saw was Batista vs Undertaker in a steel cage on Smackdown in 2007.
And that is what makes wrestling fun ....its about history, storylines and Wrestlemania
I became a WWE fan when i was seven years old. It was 2009. RAW was being hosted in Madison Square Garden. The main event was a triple threat tag team match between DX (Shawn Michaels and Triple H), Jeri-show (Chris Jericho and The Big Show) and then finally...the weirdest team of them all...John Cena & The Undertaker. On paper, that match may seem like a snoozefest, especially back then, but the seven year old in me got to watch some of the legends that did it best in the business have one single match that night. I also got to see Kofi Kingston do his signature boom-drop on Randy Orton in the middle of a crowd on a table. That was the night that got me hooked into professional wrestling as a whole. Here I am, almost 15 years later and I'm having the best time of my life being a fan because of how great the product is, and I will never ever regret being a fan of this.
This right here perfectly describes how I'm feeling. I can 100% tell that I'm going to be locked into this and be a fan for life. I had no idea what I was missing all these years. But finding wrestling at age 30 is better than not finding it at all.

I started June last year due to the writer's strike. It was the June 9th Raw I think with KO and Sami vs Imperium and when Rollins called Balor a bi*ch. Now I am a huge fan of wrestling and have started watching and grading matches from AEW,NJPW,WCW,NWA and more. Cody has also pulled me in I was very mad when he gave up his spot to the rock but Wrestlemania 40 was an amazing experience and Now I can't wait to see what's next

Lol I started watching in about September/October 1997 with WWF Superstars (internstional version with some Shotgun Saturday Night matches with brief replays from Raw is War between matches) sporadically and got major into it by December 1997/ January 1998. Also thought everything was real until in 1999 when the documentary movie "Beyond The Mat" was released and they showed a brief clip on TV (on a local movie magazine style TV show) with Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin standing around and chatting to Mankind/Mick Foley and his kids backstage at Royal Rumble 1999. After seeing how friendly they were talking to each other, it kinda killed the illusion that is was real...but still been big time fan and trying not to miss a show until this day.

I just find it interesting how there is wrestling on a surface level, in the now, as in what you see is what you get. All the glitz and glamour, the thrill and excitement, the display of athleticism and the drama that goes with it but then there is also the aspect of interpretation. What has happened before and what can happen next, what does something mean etc.
Really great video, I'm a recent fan too! My only real exposure to WWF/E growing up was from playing games at my friends house (Here comes the pain/SvR etc) but i never had access to the channels that showed it in the UK.
Fastforward to last year, I saw one of my friends share something about the passing of Bray Wyatt. I saw his look, and looked at his stuff and literally spent days going through a bunch of his matches, how he evolved his gimmicks. I properly started watching Smackdown and Raw just after Summerslam 2023 and havent missed a show since.
I like wrestling so much that 3 weeks ago I actually started to train as a wrestler in my home town. I found a fantastic facility that has some amazing coaches that also run their own promotion and shows. I've been having a blast and they're such a great group of people! It is so fun to do I cannot wait to get to a stage where I can wrestle my first match!

I quit when I heard it was fake as a kid, from 2015-2019 I completely missed what was arguably the worst years of the wwe so I guess I'm lucky lol, but after growing up a little and not feeling betrayed anymore, I realized that it's better than most "real" things for the same reasons that it's "fake" and now I'm training hard to hopefully become a wrestler myself, but the thing is, people love to attribute this new era to roman reigns, but for me and I wouldn't doubt the same for many others, the regeneration of WRESTLING found its foundation in one moment, and it happened at a stage where WWE was ready to die, it happened at a stage where most fans were giving up on the product if they haven't already, that moment was edge returning at the 2020 royal rumble, it ignited that unique excitement that only wrestling can really bring for the first time in a LONG time, an impossible moment that showed wrestling was the realest sport in the world not only to us but to the wrestlers themselves who dedicate every waking moment for the beautiful and life changing moments it creates on a daily basis now, if it wasn't for edge I wouldn't be surprised if AEW ruled and then died, effectively killing the entire spectacle of wrestling maybe forever, then after edge, drew mcintyre kept it going fresh, and then finally roman reigns comes in and due to the thunderdome he was given creative freedom by the man who's departure also saved wrestling, there were so many miracles that happened to revive and save this it almost seems like god himself is a die hard fan lol.
Such a great video. I was a huge fan of WWE when i was a young kid in the early 2000s. I stopped watching when I fully invested my time into watching baseball. Now that im a bit older and learnt to manage my time a bit (sometimes) the start of the Bloodline storyline really got me back invested into the product. Just over the past few months dating back to last summer, me and my friends have been to two smackdowns, holiday tour, and just recently the raw before mania. So much fun and everything you said in your video was spot on

I’ve been a fan of wrestling since 2002 when I was 6 years old, flipping through the channels trying to find cartoons, and landing on a channel where this huge, intimidating but yet awesome looking guy comes out in a denim vest and being cheered like crazy, and plays out a character that hooked my attention and reeled me in so deep, I couldn’t stop replicating his turnbuckle pose for years to come. From that night, I became a Paul “Triple H” Levesque guy for life. And I feel so blessed to have the privilege in seeing that man run the business he made me fall in love with. Especially after so many dark years where the product was beginning to decline. After watching your video, it actually made me tear up a bit to know that feeling I got so many years ago is still being brought out today. As far as Championships being won at house shows, it happens. Not with major championships though for the most part.
It’s happened 12 times since 1999. Mostly Tag and Intercontinental championship, but the NXT title and Women’s championship has flipped a few times.
I was already semi familiar with wrestling before last January, but the rumble season got me hooked back in, and my life has changed for the better. Ive gone to 2 episodes of raw, the collision when punk got fired, all out, + survivor series and the smackdown before. Such an amazing time to have sunken my teeth into it. I love professional wrestling so much

As a life long wrestling fan I loved watching this and hearing how you got hooked. There’s truly nothing like the world of pro wrestling. I was at Summerslam too!! What a fantastic time it was.
I got into pro wrestling right around the time you did, only a month and a bit before WrestleMania 39. It wasn't actually watching matches or an event that did it though. When I was younger (like 8-13) I played the video games and a friend of mine would occasionally rent a PPV during our sleepovers. This was the Ruthless Aggression era when John Cena, Batista, Triple H, etc. were really popping. I was never super into it but I knew who the characters were.
I fell off and hadn't really given the WWE a great deal of thought for nearly two decades. I have the Aussie equivalent of Peacock which houses all the WWE content and on a total whim, I decided to watch The Last Ride. I knew who the Undertaker was because he was a staple all throughout the video games and even in the bits and pieces I would hear while I wasn't paying attention.
Watching a documentary where there was no pretense and they weren't trying to protect the image of wrestling by pretending it was legit was extremely engaging. The Undertaker as an individual was also really captivating. Having the business contextualised to me and understanding the performers behind the personas hooked me. Learning what success meant to them and seeing how successful the idea of an undead wizard who wrestled was, despite all odds, really altered my perspective. Listening to Mark Calloway explain his reasoning for living as a hermit and keeping the fantasy alive for kids who still believed, and seeing adults who didn't still appreciate his hard work and sacrifice to entertain them was heartwarming.
From there I watched the Ruthless Aggression docuseries and seeing people I knew of like John Cena, Triple H, and Shawn Michaels explain their careers behind the scenes and what the business meant to them cemented my interest. I asked around online about what was happening currently and I was told about the Bloodline and Cody Rhodes. I binged every PLE of the last year and change that had lead to WrestleMania 39 and then watched the event shortly after it aired.
Since then, I've been following the Cody Rhodes saga with great interest and now watch all the weekly shows and PLEs live. Seeing Cody win at Mania 40 was magical for me because now that I understood what it was all about, I wasn't happy for Cody Rhodes the wrestler who won the best imaginary fight, I was thrilled for Cody Rhodes the man who had finally earned the right to be called WWE Champion and be the face of this multibillion-dollar business.
That was a great read. Couple of notes:
I also had my very first exposure be a childhood video game. Wrestlemania 2000 for the N64. I played it for years without my parents ever finding out.
I also find myself incredibly engaged by all of the behind the scenes stuff. I love learning the "tricks" and all the moving parts.
Lastly, I'm right there with you on wm 40. I couldn't believe how genuinely happy I felt for Bayley, after how much she helped other talent get over in 2023
The fact that i shed real tears for cody rhodes, a man I didn't know existed a year ago, shows you how deep this goes.

I'm immensely jealous of your live experiences. I had the opportunity to go and cover Elimination Chamber in Perth for work but we weren't offered flights. Another co-worker and I who are fans were ready to pay to fly out because the tickets were free but Taylor Swift was in the country and it jacked the prices up astronomically.
Definitely a goal to catch a live event at some point after hearing how much you and your finance enjoyed them though.

@@Dporticus WWF Attitude and Wrestlemania 2000 were my exposure in my youth , but i only really started to watch wrestling around smackdown 2002, due to availability. tried to get tickets for Bash in Berlin this year but 680-1300 bucks for a ticket is way out of my price range
Wrestling goes through peaks and valleys but the peaks make all the valleys worth it. It's a cycle of greatness followed by complacency followed by innovation and another peak. And if you're gong back and learning history, the documentaries on Peacock are pretty good. But I would also recommend Bret Hart and Austin from Wrestlemania 13 to any wrestling fan as perfect example of in-ring story telling. Austin was an upcoming heel going into the event and Bret Hart was the goody two shoes role model. Austin left to a standing ovation and firmly on his way to becoming the biggest name in wrestling.
And if you're a Bayley fan, find NXT Takeover: Brooklyn and her match against Sasha Banks. I had no idea who she was and I was a fan by the end of that match.
I have seen that Bayley match! I have consumed SO much WWE content thanks to peacock. They organize it very well and make it easy to find what interests you.

It’s VERY rare a champion loses his title at a house show. I can only remember one instance in the past 15 years that someone lost it. Can’t remember who but they ended up losing it at a house show and I only know that because WWE themselves had posted it.
I know Andrade beat Rey for the US title at a house show
Pretty sure that was Evan Bourne and Kofi Kingston dropping the tag titles to The Colons
I think there was an accident and Aj Styles beat Kevin Owens for the us championship

I got into pro wrestling in like january of this year. Didn't have any interest in it at all but randomly I decided I'd check out this wwe thing when I was bored one night browsing peacock and now a day doesn't go by where I don't think about it, it's one of those things that I genuinely can't believe I went all these years without.
This past wrestlemania 40 was my first wrestlemania and me and my buddies (who also got into it at around the same time) were absolutely losing our shit the whole time.
Watched it a as a kid and stopped as soon as the shield appeared.. I have no idea why .
But got into at summer slam of 2023. Cody and Brock going at it. It was crazy!
I got into around the same time. I saw a clip of The Rock dropping some gospel, and decided to check more of it out. But I still have time before I connect with the smaller players.

Eddie Guerrero, Chris Benoit, Chris Jericho, and Rey Mysterio (Rey Misterio Jr. at the time) put on some bangers. I wasn't even alive for the Monday Night Wars, but those matches are worth looking for.

I've been watching wwe since before wrestlemania 1. It does have its highs and lows. The one thing that keeps me a fan when it's at a low is watching it with my dad. It's one thing we share that my other siblings don't. That time spent with him is precious. Glad you have someone to enjoy it with. It makes it that much more special. Welcome to the club, brother. I can see your passion as you talk about it. I could talk about pro wrestling for hours. Born in 1984, so I was a young Hulkamaniac. I've loved it ever since. There's been a few title changes on house shows. Bret Hart defeated Ric Flair in 1992 for the WWE Championship, though it was featured in a Coliseum Video exclusive about a year later or so. I also remember Bret Hart losing his Intercontinental title earlier that same year to The Mountie at a house show as well. There's a few more like The Quebecers vs 123 Kid and Marty Jannety from 1994. The lore of WWE and pro wrestling in general is incredible. Great video, man!

Just found the channel today and subscribed. This is awesome and I'm happy for you. I am someone who recently got back into wrestling after being away for a decade. I started watching when WWF switched to WWE with my dad and we would go over to his friends' house to watch the PPVs. I even got to go to a Friday Night Smackdown with one of my buddies. I stopped watching around 2009 after WrestleMania 26, but got back into it during the pandemic because Peacock made it easy to access. Can't wait to see more from the channel and your experiences!

NXT does travel, but it's extremely limited and almost always PLEs. Got to see a house show before Wrestlemania XII where Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels used their tag team match to try out spots for their Wrestlemania Iron Man main event. ("Tag Team" match. Taker and Diesel fought around the arena so Bret and Shawn could spend the entire match just working one on one.)
I have seen PLEs be in larger and various arenas. True. More so referring to the weekly show where I'm pretty sure it's always in the same spot if I'm not mistaken.

I used to live there till not too long ago, and they actually still send me emails for free tickets for those shows to this day lol. I don't know how your vid came to my screen but I've been watching just wwf/wwe since 88. All I can say is that now with CZcams and the internet you can catch up on things and get a visual history of what ever it is you are looking for in wrestling.
