Asian Obama getting all mellow and relaxed.
Asian Obama. This comment is perfect and needs to be framed
This is the perfect description. I agree with the framing thing.
Oh my God that's exactly the perfect description for him.
I literally died laughing. I'm typing this comment from heaven.
omfg
"Your first born." MY KIND OF HUMOR!
Holy Oprah. My favorite episode yet. I love being in this show. Even though I know what's happening next, I still get a little rush for each new episode. Thanks, everyone, for all the feedback and support. We love you guys! xoxo "Annie"
We love you on this show!! Thanks for being an awesome Annie!! xx
You were hilarious in this episode! Perfect delivery :)
You guys are awesome! I love every episode, the work you guys do is great!
You and Joanna are adorable together~ Great on-screen chemistry :)
As we continue further along into the story, I hope we get to see more and more of you!
You're incredible, Alexis! :)
I love how they've been developing the Annie/Emma dynamic. It's nice to see Emma interacting with a woman that she's not trying to "better" in any way.
I guess that's why their friendship is so refreshing to watch.
Okay, the actor who plays Frank did so well in this scene. Seriously, so well. Good on you Stephen Chang. I actually felt bad for Frank for the first time.
LOL alright Annie, your matchmaking license is revoked! First Alex and Jane and now Emma and Frank? No ma'am. These are unacceptable matches, lmbo.
On the surface it makes sense. Last episode Alex made a good point though, they have too similar personalities. Switch 'em up and they'll balance each other!
^^ hint hint much
In between the lines there's a lot of obscurity
I'm not inclined to resign to maturity
wait.... wrong psych.
Hmm. Are you sure?
Yes! I've been humming the same song since I spotted the episode title!
I know! You know!
that actually fits this episode very well
I want to upvote this comment more than once...
Alexis Boozer is *excellent*. I do believe she is the most natural actress on the show. All her little facial expressions and the way she carries herself ... Brava!
I like Frank here. First time not seeing him so suave. He's more real here. :D
I know what you mean, but I feel like he's even more suave here. It's that his genuine feelings are coming through, even though they're misdirected. Emma (and we!) can resist him play flirting, but when he's serious.... that's exciting!
Milissa Mackey I thought the same thing! It's the first time I actually felt attracted to his character :)
Clearly none of you have read the book
Vanessa Dalpiaz We're talking about what we see here... Why did you bring the book up? I mean, clearly there's a reason for your assumption :)
Vanessa Dalpiaz Don't spoil it for them then.
Perfectly played based on the book! Frank about to come clean, Emma freaking about about how she feels, Annie revealing the pregnancy? SO. AWESOME. And Frank is played beautifully in this series. So well acted.
HOLY OPRAH.
Annie is officially the cutest and quirkiest thing to ever roam this earth.
Is it just me or do Frank and Jane remind you guys of Naveen and Tiana from Princess and the Frog????
YES
Perfectly put
Annie is the greatest. Let's just go with that.
I've heard a lot of people complain about how LBD was more casual about the camera-thing and they acted (at some points) as if it wasn't there. I just wanted to point out that the EA world includes people who are very conscious of cameras because they always have to present themselves in the best light. So there's only a few occasions where they would appear to be more "real" in front of it.
Yes! AND the camera-consciousness also brings out some interesting themes in the story of Emma--themes like the importance of appearance, social standing, and public face. The awareness and presence of a camera helps bridge between Jane Austen's class-conscious world and our own.
Elena Fultz You have just written the single most insightful comment ever on any of the EA videos. Wow.
Do you major in English?
chizzieshark I'm honored. Thanks! Shelcy Titus had an interesting point too. ...I did major in English Writing--and I really love Emma, and this show.
I love seeing Emma and Annie's friendship. It's refreshing to see Emma putting someone else first.
Annie, you are my favorite ever. And Sincere!Frank made me love him even more.
Also, we have all been warned: losing a bet with Emma costs us a first born.
...omg, I am drawing ALL the evil Emmas.
Oh my lord, that was NOT sincere Frank, haha! That was UBER deceitful Frank. Eeeeeeek
How was it not? I feel like he was going to make an attempt to be truthful until Emma kind of altered the mood by telling him what he needed was a watch and he felt the urge to hurry away without explanation. I think he was being real up to the point that she said that, and that he was going to be real with her. Maybe I'm wrong, but I certainly don't like being laughed at and being a bit ridiculed.
Donna Mulkins
I agree.
Donna Mulkins I think she was kindly trying to express a different opinion, not ridicule you. The "laughing" was just to make that clear.
It didn't seem like a kind expression to me. It seemed a bit condescending, with the "oh my lord" and the emphasis on "NOT" and the laughter. But I don't want to talk about it anymore now. I enjoyed the episode regardless and I still very much like all the actors and characters, and I can't wait for Monday :) I hope they all have a great time at VidCon.
Also, I'm normally not a clothes girl but OMG Annie's dress! Annie"s dress is a bigger heartthrob than Darcy and Knightly combined.
Loving the development of the Emma/Annie relationship! I think those two bring out the best in each other.
ANNIE! YOU ARE SHIPPING THE WRONG OTP!
YES FINALLY ALEX IN THE NEXT EPISODE I missed him
He was just in the last episode though.
Katherine Rivers An episode without Alex is one episode too many :C
I fully agree with that. I miss him.
Maggie Joshi Truth. I so crush hard on Alex.
Sarah Adams we all do lol
Oh the conversation right before Frank leaves is perfect, just the right amount of vagueness. Also, Emma's reaction to this was excellent, showing that while she may flirt, her feelings are still mixed. Can't wait until next episode!!
Seriously, you people really know how to cast Austen heroines. I feel like Lizzie and now Emma really understand the spirit of the characters they are playing. And this is the first time I've really grown to like the character of Emma. She's not always easy to love, but I guess we can't help it in this case :)
The fact that you're raising money IRL to tie in with the fundraiser is just the coolest use of social media. You guys are awesome!
"Your firstborn." PERFECT delivery. Good god do I love these people.
I love Annie, but she definitely shouldn't have a career in matchmaking haha.
As per usual Joanna Sotomura is perfection.
just the way Annie says "...you and Fraaaank" is adorable. loved this episode.
I love how he's so subtle with his "visits" to Jane's office. The almost confession was so perfectly translated! I loved it. And Emma's reaction was pretty spot on, She doesn't know what she feels for him and, being Emma, she's jumping to conclusions again :) Also, love the friendship/banter between Emma and Annie, they're the best.
Holy Oprah! BEST. LINE. EVER!
"Holy Oprah, what just happened?" That line needs to be framed and live on in history for all time
I love the Emma/Annie interaction here! I think this is the first episode where I really completely bought the fact that they're actually best friends, but yup, this one was perfect.
*Punches Frank repeatedly* He's not "real" here! He's leveraging Emma's tendencies to keep his secrets!
Frank finally feels like a real person to me. I kind of like real Frank. And yes Emma, he totally likes you.
Haha, you really think so....? ;)
I did, but now I'm not so sure
It's a mighty fine book if you're curious about the outcome :)
Samarachelle I guess I'll just wait it out.
Ahhhhhhhh!!!!! But Alex and Emma! What! Frank! No....yes....what!!!! What is this life!?!?!?!?
I really like the chemistry between Annie and Emma
David Lev Emma is great when she's around Annie.
The new Jane and Frank videos completely change the meaning of this episode.
Leave it to Emma to make her friend's baby announcement about her. She is one of my favorite literary characters!
I'm glad that they included Annie's pregnancy into the show. It's not necessary to the overall plot line of the story, but it's really nice that they included that into the story.
The more Emma freaks out, the more I love her.
Frank almost made me feel sorry for him.
Annie is the cutest. Emma is so lucky to have her and Alex as her best friends.
Alexis as Annie is just great, and somehow she gets the best-looking wardrobe on the show imho.
She did the fist bump explosion thing in the preview!!! Aww, awesome continuation.
I will never un-hear it...Frank "Obama" Churchill
I swear it's like he is doing it on purpose I keep waiting for them to slip "let me be clear" into his dialogue.
Emma and Annie are such good friends...i love how Annie's not afraid to tease her
Oh, shoot! Emma and Frank are so cute together. Honestly, much more than all Emmas and Franks from all screen adaptaions I've seen.
I wish the novel would differently...
Annie and Emma are so cute together! Their friendship makes me smile :)
Loveeeeeeeed this episode. Well, I actually say that with EACH episode, but I mean it every time!
Frank is so sweet and I just love Annie and her match-making. I'm so happy she's pregnant (:
Anyways, it was a funny, good, revealing episode. Emma being nervous and not knowing what to do what's the cutest thing ever!
Omigosh, "auntie em"?! I just had Wizard of Oz flashbacks. Other than that? I love Annie! So awesome, this natural, no strings attached friendship they have. Emma seems more normal and grounded around her. Which goes well with flustered Emma! I like that she recognizes the possibility of Frank being interested in her; other adaptations had her being more oblivious.
Oh my gosh, Emma, you know that Alex is the guy for you.
This episode reminded me a lot about this part of the book, with Frank being awkward and having trouble finding words and Emma thinking they have feelings for each other. Well done!
To be honest I kind of want Annie to become the protagonist, and have like a 'becoming a mum' vlog, and also conveniently set Emma and Alex up. Obviously none of that's going to happen, but a girl can dream...
The shades of meaning in this dialogue are great!
Just noticed that the past 8 episode titles - New Girl, The Bachelor, Project Runway, True Detective, Gossip Girl, The Dating Game, Mythbusters and Psych - are all TV show titles. Touché, Bernie Su!
"hOOOLY OPRAH!"
Annie and Emma are so cute! Especially that first born thing
So much to love in this episode. Emma's perfect delivery of: "do I like him? I don't know" was hilarious. sincere Frank touching and Annie was just perfect.
Spoilerish...
For those who read the book, what could be the reason for Frank to keep his secret? It's not the kind of things that matters nowadays. And since his business pretty much replace his aunt, how can it work out? PD were always great at adapting the material to the modern world, I can't wait to see what they did with that.
Possible spoilers...

Someone earlier suggested it's some conflict between Jane's activism and one of Frank's companies. That's possible.
My theory is that they aren't together any more, because hiding their relationship doesn't make sense in this day and age. I think they broke up, are trying to figure out what they want to do, and don't want other people in their business while they're figuring it out. When Emma asked Jane a few episodes back if she was seeing someone, she answered, "Not at the moment." Emma then asked, "Were you seeing someone?" and Jane said, "My career keeps me busy." I don't think Jane would lie, but she would deflect, which means that she's not seeing Frank right now.
Could be a combo of both ideas. Maybe something about his business led to their breakup.
Amy A Thanks for your answer. I like your theory. It would make sense n this day and age.
Annie is adorable. :)
I have literally been waiting all day for this episode! Never dissapoints!
This may seem like a random compliment, but I LOVE the flow of this episode! The acting, the directing, the writing...literally the pacing on this was fracking phenomenal!
Oh Emma. I seriously get sooo excited when I see these in my sub box!
this episode was DELIGHTFUL
Oh my gawd. Most exciting episode yet
This is my favourite episode yet!
Anyone else notice how the framed red butterfly in the background looks like a bow on Emma's head and makes her look like a Disney princess? Especially right after Frank leaves and Emma's hand remains extended at 2:53
Perfect Episode is PERFECT.
It's a key detail that this is the second video where Frank notes that he had already stopped by Jane's office before he's gone to talk to Emma. Subtle detail but very telling.
It's interesting how much length Frank seems to go to talk down Jane in Emma's presence. This scenario also feels way different from the Elton/Harriet storyline in the sense that it's easily understandable how Emma would conclude that Frank has feelings for her. And, an interesting insight that Emma's response is to not know her own feelings about Frank, when it has seemed obvious to the audience that she's liked him for a while. Very Emma to always jump to conclusions about other people and to avoid her own emotions and attempt to stick to her I-don't-need-a-man attitude - which, for all her flaws, is something I think is worth respecting - she may be boastful and command attention, but she's not selfish in the sense that she really does focus on other people more than she focuses on herself a lot of the time - her desire to make people's lives better is truly genuine and that to me is fundamentally what redeems her character and separates her from someone like Caroline, who almost always presents herself as someone she really isn't
Loved Emma's reaction. Joanna is so great at playing Emma!
Aaaaaw, I love Annie! She's a great friend, I love her style, and she and Ryan are adorable.
Aww I love seeing Annie.
LOVE LOVE LOVE Emma's outfit here.
When I saw the thumnail I thought it was Alex and I was like today is the day!! And then Frank walked in...
Emma & Annie are so precious. I love their friendship.
This part of the book is so well-adapted and effortlessly written! Excellent work writers, you are perfecting your craft!
The only gripe I have at the moment is with costuming. Because the show sources their clothes from the same few stores, all of the characters are decked out in similar fashion. With Emma, Harriet and Annie that's fine, but Jane Fairfax's clothes don't suit her character at all. And Caroline Lee's outfits are so different from her sleeker, more sophisticated style in the LBD. It's a small detail I know, but it kind of bugs me.
I Love Annie. :)
I love these conversations between Annie and Emma.
I'm liking Emma more and more!
This is just perfect.
Spot on in this one - Good job writers!
I did just about LOL when Annie calls her Auntie Em - my mind flashed to The Wizard of Oz.
Oh the Fist Bump returns! Thank you episode preview!
I like Annie, she would make a lovely addition to the team. She has that lightness of heart that is missing from the office. Also...this whole frank and emma thing.... gosh i wish I read the book and knew what was coming next!
emma shut that down so effectively even i am impressed
Annie is adorable!!! MORE ANNIE PLEASE!!!
OMG I love Frank so much
You guys are doing this so well!!
I kind of wish I didn't know the story, but I also feel that knowing ift makes me appreciate the little details even more..
Keeps getting better and better :)
BABIEEEEEEEES. Oh, and this ep was perfect, as always!
This is on point!! This makes me so happy! Emma should definately approve!
Annie is my favorite person and the way Emma is with her is the best
Annie is so cute. I love her. She is so supportive and sweet.
I love how you can see how much chemistry Emma and Alex have compared to Alex and Jane with the two preview thumbnails. And Annie was super cute in this episode, but oh no when the big Frank reveal happens!
Also I LOVE seeing more of the best friend relationship between Emma and Annie
I love frank. So adorable!
I want to Annie to be my best friend XD
Psych!! I love that show. This episode was great.
I loooooove Annie
I was like Annie's dress is baggy is she preggo? Yes
One of my favourite episodes yet!! Was seriously laughing out loud :)
I really love the friendship and bantering between Emma and Annie it's so good! And just like to say I totally called the pregnancy announcement when Annie walked in wearing that dress item thing :P
I hope Annie will be in more episodes, I love her.
HE'S SO PRETTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
5:17 - 5:23
Love you Annie! They totally act like best friends! Amazing acting by Joanna and Alexis. I can't wait until Monday for a new episode!!!!
