"Who sends such expensive gifts without a note?" Sirius Black.
Emma, jumping to conclusions.
It's clear here why Frank would never be a good match for Emma despite their similarities. Frank simply brings out the worst in Emma. Alex is her voice of reason. Alex makes Emma's life better :)
Yeah, the Frank and Jane relationship is a foreshadowing of the eventual Emma and Knightley pairing. Jane (the female Knightley) is practical and tempers Frank's (male Emma) excesses and nature.
And the neg comments about Frank on this video are very similar to the early comments about Emma. SPOT ON casting and acting :)
Frank is the He-Emma. Imagine what they would have got up if they were a couple. The mind boggles
"jane needs help with her laptop..."
harriet leaves
emma asks frank "why are you smiling?"...
i feel bad for emma for thinking that frank is smiling at her, but in reality we know he's smiling because jane got the laptop she needed...
emma, emma, emma...
Frank is acting too smooth, and so far, the only characters who have acted smooth are Wickham and Elton. Therefore, I don't trust him.
Thinking about this (nearly a decade old lol) comment, that's probably why Austen originally included Frank in the first place. She has these slimy, dishonest characters (Elton, Wickham), whose smooth moves are part of their nastiness, so maybe she wanted to further show the complexities of charisma with someone like Frank Churchill. He isn't a bad person, isn't even slimy, but does have faults tied to his charisma, similar to her other characters. Frank shows how being good at heart doesn't always mean you're complete (like Emma), and how sometimes, even when people aren't "bad", they aren't good for other people, such as he and Emma bringing out the worst in each other.
So we are getting to the pat where Emma pretty much fucks everything up YAAAAAY
Seriously. It's so painful to watch! >
Am I the only one who screamed at Emma when she said that she was proud of Harriet being good with computers? WHY DOES SHE HATE BMART SO MUCH? IT'S LIKE SHE DIDN'T SEE THE GODDAMN CRANE VIDEO.
Oh, God, what Crane video? WhatdidImiss??
SuzyS85 The video in which he made a certain proposition to Harriet :D Check out Emma Woodhouse channel ;)
The crane video was an extra that I believe is on Emma's channel, not pemberly's, that's BMart asking Harriet on a date it's really cute and you should definitely watch!
She definitely saw it; she said it was too corny. Which she wouldn't have said if she'd seen it before forming her first impression!
Now I really want to see Frank's conversation with Jane in her office!
EMMA, HE'S WEARING MAN CAPRIS. NEVER TRUST A DUDE IN CAPRIS.
What gets me most about this video is the fact that at the start she says she doesn't want to gossip, but then after talking to Frank, she decides gossip is good! He brings out the very worst in her and it is so frustrating!
Don't think I didn't see you eavesdropping there, Frank Churchhill.
EMMA WOODHOUSE STOP DOING THE FIST BUMP POW THING WITH FRANK THAT IS A KNIGHTLEY THING NO
No Emma. That is an ALEX THING not a frank thing!!!!
"Jane, now that we're friends, I've decided to make you my new project!" -what Emma is resisting to say, probably
That is a PERFECT Frank Churchill. Really, you guys out stand yourselves.
Oh maaan love Churchill's voice..... he can read anything
Oh Frank you sneaky manipulative thing you.
I've just been sitting here the whole time going "oh Emma if you only you knew"
YOU SNEAKY MR. CHURCHILL!
SMH Emma... SMH! You were doing better and then Jolly McDeepvoice showed up, just stirring his little cauldron of trouble. Good thing Alex loves you even when you meddle cuz if not you'd be in a world of trouble girl!
Jolly McDeepvoice. I like it!
Jolly McDeepvoice. Love it.
Jolly McDeepvoice: brilliant!
Now all I can imagine is Frank stirring a huge bubbling cauldron with a giant stick in the dark lol
I don't trust frank .. his silly bad english accent was epic tho
You're not supposed to trust frank.
Agreed! Although a laptop that automatically schedules tea time would be pretty cool.
Yeah I know like where do I sign up for that? Lol.
Hahaha, he doesn't even know how to pronounce "schedule" in an English accent. They usually say "shedule" not "skedule" in American accents
Akemi Nishikido It really depends on where in England you come from; different dialects pronounce it differently. I'm from England and I personally pronounce it "skedule"
Emma and Frank are being set up so perfectly! It's gonna be so understandable that she'll think they're in love. And maybe that's the explanation (or at least part of it) for Jane's distance from Emma; she's seen the videos and doesn't know why her boyfriend seems to be flirting with someone else, and now that someone else is her boss. This is gonna be goooooood!
I don't think she's seen the videos because in the EA universe they aren't public, to my understanding. It's just that everyone around Emma knows that she's filming for her documentary.
Still, Jane's a smart woman and I'm sure she hasn't missed the flirting going on between Frank and Emma (even if Frank's is a put-on). So I can't imagine she's too happy about it, and that would explain some of her reticence towards Emma.
Oh that's right, it's not like in LBD where it's just there for everyone to see. Well, I'm sure Jane at least knows that Emma and Frank have been working together for a while and now that she's working for Emma, she's got a front row seat to watching Frank and Emma.
Frank is being extremely helpful, nice, yet plotting, wanting to figure stuff out...
He's acting very... Emma-ish.
Too Emma-ish.
Something's up.
And I have not read the book, so no spoilers, please! I've read enough in the comments.
No spoiler, but I think this is a mark of how good this adaptation is - these are exactly the same feelings I had at this point in the book. Bravo, Pemberley Digital!
There does seem to be a running theme of Emma interacting with people who are her mirror image in some way (Elton, Caroline, now Frank). It tends not to end well.
"“Why do you smile?" said she.
"Nay, why do you?"
.....
"You may say what you chuse-but your countenance testifies that your thoughts on this subject are very much like mine."
"I do not know. I rather believe you are giving me more credit for acuteness than I deserve. I smile because you smile, and shall probably suspect whatever I find you suspect"."
ahhh yes perf this is perf i am ded goodbye
HIS. FREAKING. CAPRIS. WHY IS NO ONE TALKING ABOUT HIS CAPRIS?!
lol piano forte= laptop
No Emma, NOT FRANK! Alex! Silly girl...*goes back to read the book again just to make sure*
Franks "British" accent was amazing. Haha best part of the whole video
I really hope that Harriet's equivalent of "you're a virgin who can't drive" will be "I run this entire company while you harass people on Twitter"
Good lord Mr. Churchill, that SHIRT. Yes, yes, I know what happens, but THAT SHIRT SIR. HELLO.
Oh, Emma. It is always one step forward and two steps back with you... *sigh* Hard lessons are hard to learn for some.
Emma, Emma, Emma, Emma
Can I just say that YOUR USERNAME
AND PROFILE PIC ARE AMAAZING
Michigan nerdfighter???
Yep!
Awesome! Same here :)
Seriously Emma is saying she is not going to gossip, but she does for the ENTIRE VIDEO!
That's kind of the point.
I know, but it's annoying
Yeah I get you. It bothered me too. She needs a logical person, not someone like frank. *sighs*
Exactly! I never like them together.
Me either! And as hard as it is to dislike our charming mr Churchill, I do. I miss Alex.
Frank Churchill sends off such a southern baptist youth minister vibe!
When Alex and Frank wear the same things but Emma only criticizes knightly
because she actually only notices him.
So: New Girl,The bachelor, Project runway, True Detective, and now Gossip Girl?
Really love Emma's sweater.
I really don't want to like Frank Churchill but they hired such a great actor with a lot of charisma. Like it! :)
Love how the Dixons were introduced! The set up is perfect.
Frank's character is coming along so perfectly. I love the fist bump, and the way he skips out the door. Sly boy...
Harriet's face when Emma and Frank do the fistbump thing...she cracks me up
"I am Emma WoodHouse, and I am able to fit both of my feet in my mouth on a regular basis" :)
Frank Churchill is perfect!! I love him so much in this, he is the perfect amount of charm and suaveness!!
I cannot help it, I love Emma and Frank! I really like how they've adapted Emma here, she's spoiled and pushy and meddlesome, but you can't hate her because you know that most of the time, her heart is in the right place, she's just deeply misguided. And Frank is so over the top, he's so funny and charming. And her VOICE! Goodness how could you not fall in love with him! He's a silly man, but a charming one and, like Emma, I think he's got a good heart at the end of the day and I think they convey that really well here.
The haircut looked very worth it.
ugh Emma is doing the 'pow' fist thing with Frank :c
Really sad :( That was a special thing with Alex :(
Ugh I know! I was so sad.
Ella Mae Masamayor At least we know Emma won't be doing it with Frank for long.
Ugh, yes. God bless for that.
Everyone else can except for her.
HAhaha! That tea time bit!!
Spoiler-safe version: OK, now my burning question is WHY? Why is ***** having to keep his relationship with Jane a secret? I know why in the book - she was poor and he knew his aunt wouldn't approve and would disinherit him - but in this version? Why?
You might wanna talk in a little code there, or give a spolier warning. A lot of the viewers have not read the original, and want to avoid spoilers, and besides, you don't wanna ruin the biggest shocker in the whole novel!
All that aside though, I was wondering the same thing. Maybe to keep his figure up as an eligible charming young business man. A lot of celebs do it IRL. its charming for a single man to flirt about, but cheap for a taken man.
Wait what ?!
My thought is they're not together anymore. They were, and broke up, and they're keeping the prior relationship secret (maybe because it's painful to talk about?). In the last video, Emma asked Jane, "Are you seeing someone?" Jane answered, "Not at the moment." Emma then asked, "Were you seeing someone?" and Jane answered, "I'm focused on my career right now." So she answered no to the first question, and evaded the second one.
I like how they emphasise what a bad effect Frank has on Emma - only at the start of the video she declared to avoid gossip and the moment he stepped into her office... or jumped into her office, anyway........
"Perhaps they didn't know about her need until very recently"
Does anyone else think Sailor Moon when they look at Harriet's outfit in this video?
Right, Emma, because being a conniving, manipulative, self-centered extrovert is SO much worse than being private, serious, hard-working introvert =P.
First of all: I spot Annie in the next ep! *yeah* She'll be back! And Frank Churchill you sneaky bastard, that we all love you for! Great to see him like this, it's a great part in the book and you portraied it very well! The way he and Emma get along is also great! Just totally love this webshow!
Annie's back on Thurs, yay!
Frank Churchill's entrance was impeccably timed.
Also, I love how Harriet has been dressing lately. Emma, not so much.
Oh dear lord... watch Emma get all infatuated with Frank. This is great.
Frank is so gosh darn charming.
I mean really.
"I think the gift came all the way from London" Good insight Emma
Frank Churchill is an epic troll...
He was waaaaay to happy about going to see Jane...
Ooh, I love what Harriet's wearing! So professional, but still cute.
Does this mean next episode we'll see a scene with Frank and Jane? I hope so, but probably not. I'm glad Annie is back next time. Maybe she'll have her own theories about who sent the laptop!
type in Frank and Jane in the youtube search bar, you'll find their videos
Emma, your hair is getting looooong. Frank is just so dashing. The most likeable I've ever seen this character. Emma is such a nut. gotta love it!
I LOVE that sweater, Emma!
Frank, you are just so perfectly charming!
Annie's in the next episode! Yes!!! They couldn't leave out her theory in Jane's mysterious package! I can't wait to see Emma's reaction!!! Man, I love this show!
Oh frank! Your perfectly chiseled face and deep voice just make the lies worse!!
Lol! So so true
I just crack up when he retorts: why are you smiling?!!
Probably not the first person to notice this, but all the episodes after the last hiatus have had the names of TV shows "The New Girl" "The Bachelor" "Project Runway" "True Detective" "Gossip Girl". Okay, so not quite the first one, but it's still an interesting pattern.
Can we talk about the evolution of Harriets style?! Amazing :)
At the beginning of the series I didn't like Emma but now I LOVE her! Great series! Emma is one of my favorite Jane Austen books :)
"People gossiping and speculating about you all the time", she says while gossiping and speculating about Jane.
Emma is looks particularly gorgeous in this video!
Ahhhhh oh Emma, he's playing you for a fool
I love Emma & Frank! They are so adorable around eachother, like Emma and Alex
I love this series. Truly I do.
ahhh this keeps getting even better and better each episode
Ohhh! I think the next episode is the part in the book where Annie tells Emma that Alex might like Jane or something about Alex and Jane..
Hahaha Frank's British accent, hysterical! Do it again please :-)
I'm totally not going to be a gossip...gossips incessantly
Annie is back!
Next episode pleaseeeee, this is getting SO good. I need more Alex-Emma interactions, they are so cute.
So excited right now. Gotta love a little bit of Emma! :)
My favorite episode so far!
Yeyyy annies back!!
Does anyone else really love Emma's hair in this video
That ringtone was timely ...
How can anyone hate "this" Frank? He's the best and most hilariously harmless depiction yet. He cracks me up. Love him!!! Anyone know the actor's name? No matter, Mr. Churchill portrayer... I think you are doing and excellent job with your interpretation. Thank you!
i hate to say it guys i really do , but I think Emma wants Churchill...
KNIGHTHOUSE FOREVER !!!!!!
This is SO close to the book; it makes me really happy! ^_^
Telling people Jane might have a secret thing with her best friends husband is not 'for the good of your new friend'.
+
Harriet's look is on point
looove that sweater!
Just got caught up to this part of the book!
I just noticed something kind of fun! All the episodes in this months story arch have been named after TV shows! I don't know if thats wildly significant in any way, but still, it's interesting!
Yeah! Annie's back on Thursday!!!! =)
ITS THE PIANOFORTE
Please please correct me if I'm wrong, but I always get this sense from Emma that the whole "help other people and make their lives better" thing is more for a sense of self-purpose and self-entitlement and giving herself a sense of achievement, rather than more selfless motives. Was she like this in the book too?
Knowing what happens later, I feel really sorry for Emma. More in this adaptation than in any other.
I want to know someone like emma because it would be so amusing ^_^
I just noticed that the last few titles are all TV shows!
I wonder when we'll see an episode called The Good Wife. :P
OMG, there's actually a benefit that you can donate to!
