so as it turns out, emma's trying to improve herself, caroline is still a jerk, harriet is ever looking for the silver lining, and alex is still behind emma - as long as her intentions are good...
but why do i still feel so unsettled?
Because doom is on the horizon and everything is not as black and white as Emma makes it out to be?
I think that shift in the company, will be a bad thing.
@@Gigaheart Yeah, I got a bad feeling when Emma said they'd only hire clients with "pure intentions." Because if I've learned anything from Pemberley, it's that most people with good intentions in these stories end up being the scumbags (Elton seemed charming, he was a scumbag; Caroline seemed nice in LBD, she ended up worse here than even after that whole drama with Darcy)
Either because I watched this episode right before going to bed or because my brain is not satisfied with the hiatus, I dreamed last night that to avoid planning the Elton wedding, Emma had taken on all the Disney princesses as clients. I was treated to a 22 minute episode of Harriet teaching Ariel how to knit. How that was going to make Ariel's life better, I don't know.

Haha. Was anyone else dying over Knightley's face while Emma was dreaming about the future of the company? She's getting all excited and he's doing his best not to show how much he loves it when she gets like that. :)
Wow, the actress playing Caroline is fantastic. Every time I see her walk through the door I feel an instant wave of nausea. I LOVE IT!!!! :)
Couple of things:
1. Emma looks fabulous.
2. I wish she'd been nicer to Caroline, who appeared to be trying to end their professional relationship in good terms.
3. Alex should wear black basically all the time.
4. Jane Fairfax as an Emma Approved consultant or new employee is a stroke of genius. There's going to be so much romantic comedy and angst in this arc, and it breaks the pattern of one client every month.
5. I can't wait until June!
I wholly agree about #2! Emma was too blunt. Now I sympathise a little with Caroline…and that's something. Oh Emma…...
I agree with you, but I'm also really glad that she called Caroline out on her underhandedness. In the Lizzie Bennet Diaries, I know it took Lizzie a long time to do this, and even longer for her to be able to do it to her face, but I'm really glad Emma called a spade a spade, haha! I think Caroline needs to be confronted more often about her actions and the way she treats people. If people don't act like it's unacceptable, she'll just keep doing it.
+Pegasus Alice Emma is more intuitive than us. so she can tell what Caro is really thinking.
I love how Knightly's face lights up when Emma gets excited. It's so endearing :3

I hope this isn't the last we see of Caroline! And congrats to Emma for deciding not to "sell out" anymore! I'll miss this show until June.
Going by the book, it would not be the last of Caroline. However, I know the creators of this series have financial constraints that keep them from hiring too many actors at once. That is why there is really only one client per month. They can only afford a handful actors at one time, I think, and there's already Knightley, Emma, and Harriet that are pretty steady and vital to the series. That really only leaves room for about 2 other actors. It looks like Jane and Frank are going to be the additional characters for at least a little while. However, I'm curious to see how they handle Caroline's friendship with Jane (if you can call it a friendship). That was something that seems prominent enough in the book that they would have a hard time working around it. My guess is that Caroline may still be mentioned, by Jane, but that they won't show her (at least for a while). I'm just kind of thinking out loud here and throwing out ideas . . .

If you meant you didn't get my comment, Knightley mentions the idea of "Knightley Disapproved" towards the end of the video. If you meant you don't know what "Knightley Disapproved" is, it's the name of the fan-based Facebook page for Emma Approved, along the same lines that "Socially Awkward Darcy" was for The Lizzie Bennet Diaries. Hope that helps :)

I bask in the Emma-Knightley interactions; they really lift the mood and ground the story, their characters, and their individual and shared journeys. It's like that feeling you get when winding down in a safe place after facing hardship, that come what may, everything's gonna be okay in the end. Knightley is Emma's--and our--sense of place/home. She really trusts him and comes alive around him. It's nice.
Oof, Caroline really does awkward goodbyes with our heroines, doesn't she? Her attempt at well-wishing sounded like a yearbook note or a job rejection letter.
I don't get how Carlton "proved how much better they are," though. If anything, this experience proved how empty their lives are, filled with pettiness and vindictiveness and posturing instead of love and compassion and community and honesty. Emma, at least for you, this feeling of a job not well done is fleeting; for them, it's their life!

Emma and Caroline may share a few qualities, but they have huge differences. Emma has good intentions and wants what's best for people. Caroline is manipulative and cruel. She tries to twist people's words and thoughts for her benefit.

I love how Emma's wishes for Caroline to be well parallel Lizzie's offer for Caroline to stay for dinner in LBD and how Caroline responds to both of them! Every time I watch this series it gets better :)
Yes!!! The elusive Jane Fairfax might make an appearance... finally!!! I was a bit confused about Emma's doubts at the beginning of the video but now that we have been told how she felt about catering to people like the Eltons we can see the change in the company. I'm glad Emma called out Caroline for her reasons for hiring Emma to plan her engagement party. I think it was needed. Hiatus I could write a story about you.... *cough* Sherlock *cough*

I do really like that they brought Caroline Lee into this series. To me, it really helps to highlight how Emma and Caroline do have a lot of similarities (ambitious, manipulative, etc), but that they have a really important difference that completely changes what we think of them. Really though, remember how much manipulating Emma was doing for Annie's wedding? But it was done for a completely different reason. And I love that contrast.

Knightly Disapproved is an actual facebook page that was created soon after the first episode of emma approved. so glad they added that in here!
Emma is really growing up: she's not the bossy girl of the first videos, but a strong woman who's finding her place in the world. Her interaction with Alex shows how much her perspective is changing and I'm pretty sure he approves it (LOL).
June seems too far, but if this hiatus will help shaping an high quality series... I'll patiently wait :)
Emma really has grown on me, I could barely stand her at the start but that's all changed now :D I'll be finished exams by June so it's something to look forward to I suppose.

That Caroline/Emma interaction was fantastic. I love that Emma spoke her mind with Caroline, that may be the most frustrating thing about Regency propriety- that a lady may not speak honestly in situations like that. It was so satisfying to see!

This really reminds me of how Lizzie was like “do you want to stay for dinner” to caroline like Obv Lizzie and Emma have both grown and changed as people while the antagonists like Caroline really never change their underhanded ways. It goes to show how they rise above the others and actually become better for it!
If another hiatus is what they need to make a great series, then so be it.

You know who's outfit was really on point this episode? Harriet's! It was a little looser than maybe it needed to be, but super beautiful on her!

The best thing they've done so far is make the strong parallel between Emma and Caroline because Emma is supposed to grow from her experience with Caroline and realize that she was EXACTLY like Caroline before but she wants to change and become more accepting of people. So yay for bringing it out and letting people see that important storyline!
Whenever someone says "Facebook" in a video, I just think about how dated that reference is going to sound in 5 years. Like when someone says "MySpace" or "Ask Jeeves".

Yeah, all that are familiar with this story knew where that line was headed. I'm rather annoyed that they didn't show the party. Surely there could've been some way that they could've filmed it that would fit with the premise of the documentary--to highlight a stellar event or something. In the book there is so much that happens in that scene and it shows so many important facets of the characters. It needed to be included here!

It's interesting how this shift in the company coincides with Emma's shift in focus from matchmaking, both in this series and in the book. It follows how she matures and sees the bigger picture.

The only thing about this episode that was #Knightleydisapproved for me was the fact that we need to wait till June to see the next one. :(

Okay - a few thoughts.
1) No more episodes for a month - gutting but the last hiatus in the show seemed to make it a *lot* stronger (not that it wasn't good before it just got better after the hiatus). I hope you guys are able to rest and relax a bit so you can continue the great work.
2) The confrontation between Emma and Caroline. I like that they were honest but from a business standpoint I really dislike the way Emma left things there.
3) My last and most important thought - Alex's face when Emma got excited and then the cute flirting between them!!! Gah, if it wasn't for the fact that them getting together would mean the end of the show I would so want them together now!

But I am still fuming from the last episode! I never hated Caroline in Lizzie Bennet Diaries. I didn't like her, but I didn't hate her. In this, I hate her so much. And Elton was such a jerk. Now we really know what he's all about. And it explains a lot about why Caroline was perfect for him and not Harriet.
I don't know what to say except, when Emma said "Any new dance partners worth mentioning?" And Harriet said, "Nobody new." What did she mean by "new"? Am I reading too much into that answer?
Never mind! Don't tell me because I haven't read the book, and I don't want to be spoiled. So excited for JUNE!

Two months. I can't wait two months! Jeez, I love this show! I was so happy Caroline was gone and now you put this "WILL RETURN IN JUNE 2014".
Emma and her awesome overly blunt approach toward Caroline, and starry eyed moments over her unrealistic goals....man. Plus Emma and Knightly are just so cute I can't get over it.
Although on the surface it seems that Caroline and Emma are alike, the difference is that Emma is honestly motivated to help others - whereas Caroline is only motivated to help herself.
Deciding that you get to decide who's a "good person" and who's a "bad person" and who "deserves" your help feels massively problematic to me.

It would be nice to meet Jane. And maybe see if Lizzie and Darcy have any events they need organised... perhaps Gigi could help so it'd be a surprise for them... or maybe Darcy confides in Gigi his plan and they surprise Lizzie together... yeah, that sounds more likely. Lydia would find out and keep it secret from Lizzie with them of course.
That'd be amazing! I hope there's more crossovers but who knows?

i feel like everyone is commenting on the hiatus, while this was a FANTASTIC episode! very, very well done.
ANOTHER flawless episode by the EA team! That discussion with Emma and Caroline really was perfect. Talking about their similarities while really showing their differences, so wonderful to watch. And Harriet and Emma are always lovely together. Alex supporting Emma's ideas on their type of clientele really was the icing on the cake. Jane being recruited? THAT was the cake topper. ;)
