Dear Taylor and Tyler, I am so thankful to have found your Podcast. It is wonderful and so enlightening. I have learned more about the Book of Mormon in the last few weeks from you than I have in my last 78 years of life. Thank you so much for your great work and may you be blessed for sharing it with all of us. The Book of Mormon is truly a special gift from our Heavenly Father and you are truly opening it for me like a “Treasure Box”. Thank you!

You are in my regular weekly schedule of study. I have just started coming back to church (a wild olive branch being graphed back to the tree) who has been given a HUGH testimony as I do the Come Follow Me assignments, studying everyday!
I'm very thankful to Jesus and his word and to the labourers tending the fields daily, so my fruit may become good fruit again. You labourers that keep us nourished, stirring up the roots!

Wow! I loved this lesson and getting a perspective not only on geography, but the amount of records that were kept by the kings and the prophets. So thankful that God trusts his prophets to preserve these plates/words, even the smallest of plates! Thank you for your sincere teaching and insights.

I needed this analogy of Enos and Jacob wrestling with God. I recognized for the first time from your lesson that I've been having my own personal wrestle for the Lord to reveal his will to me. As Pres. Nelson said, good inspiration is based upon good information, so I have been seeking for five months and although I have to admit I've had spiritual nudges in the right direction, the most powerful inspiration has finally come. Thank you for helping me understand this critical truth.

Yes as one who was admonished only by my mother, I had little to no sense of self, worth, value, security or my place in the world. I had no understanding of familial relationships, and therefore an inability to develop other relationships.
Neal A Maxwell said “those who have not known love will have a special struggle.”
It is my testimony that praying for and receiving a confirmation of our Heavenly Father’s love for us, is the single most important behavior the children of God can do.
In 2010 I prayed every hour for many days until finally the confirmation came. I continued to pray for a year and received many important impressions relating to my identity as well as God’s. I learned much about relationships and the great value of all people.
I recommend the talk by Elder Oaks on timing. I just listened to it on You Tube Sunday.

Once again I'm so grateful to you both (and the cameraman) for providing more insights to these books of scripture. Thank you for the many hours you have unselfishly spent to help us better understand the scriptures and provide the incentive to now go beyond and do more study and pondering. Your picture of the plates that Mormon was having to read through and glean what the Lord wanted him to collect into what we have now as the Book of Mormon was truly amazing and thought-provoking. I look forward to spending time reading the Book of Mormon while using your resources. I can't thank you enough and want to thank those who have worked with you including the unseen cameraman for these podcasts.

I was particularly touched by the idea of "wrestling" - as it applies to all of God's children. Each of us have our own wrestles and struggles, until we humble and submit ourselves to God's will - just like Enos. The slowing down of the day for Enos and plotting out the timeline was a marvellous visual feast. That was a powerful teaching moment and can be applied (as Tyler did) to so many different wrestles each of us will have - jobs, houses, children etc. Slowing these experiences down, plotting out a timeline, reflecting upon the challenges, frequently allows us to recognise the hand of the Lord in our life. He is always there. We just need to slow down, see, hear, feel and recognise Him. Thanks again guys!

  • @d.eileen1336

I have always marveled that Enos was able to cry unto the Lord for a day and a night! He must have had a great relationship with the Lord in order to be able to pray for that length of time! Prayer has always been a hard thing for me to do and when done I’m lucky for it to last 5 minutes! So Enos must have had a great relationship with the Lord even before he went out to hunt and then pray to the Lord!

We just LOVE you're lessons. One comment about the book of Enos and a point that neither of you touched on and that would be verses 7 and 8. To me the most profound verses maybe in the entire BOM is the power of "Faith" vs First Had Knowledge. Enos is forgiven and he asks "how is this done" and the answer is so profound as it relates to all of us who have neither "seen or heard" the Lord in the first person. "Because of thy faith in Jesus Christ whom thou hast never before heard nor seen" . . . . WOW. What a revelation that is about the bargaining chip that the Lord has for all of us when we find ourselves at the "Gate" and declares "thy faith has made thee whole" so profound. So many of us want this "sure witness" or some kind of BIG revelation but what we learn from these two verses is that continued "Faith" has more power as a witness of or devotion to the Lord than actual sight. I love that passage. Thanks for all you do.

I have to admit that sometimes I feel so badly about not knowing many of the things you guys highlight in these lessons...or in other words not being able to figure things out unless I watch your videos (which I love and appreciate btw). I've only recently started coming back to church after being inactive but I've realised how much I've taken for granted in really learning and studying the scriptures. I'm the kind of person that's very hard on myself when I don't understand the scriptures in a deep, meaningful way in that I feel inadequate and that I'm not learning like I should or receiving personal revelation...
Please tell me you guys weren't always as amazingly good at unpacking the scriptures and was at one point a mere struggling novice like me! *sigh*

What I hope to communicate is that we are all learning, all in process, all gaining knowledge along the way. And for all of us it takes time and effort and struggle and is not easy. Hope that helps! :)

I have found in life, it's never helpful or productive to compare yourself to others. That is Satan's playground and a type of perfectionism that will drive the Holy Spirit away. Believe me, I had to learn this the hard way!
Christ always meets us where we are at! We labor in His vineyard where we can, and He is so grateful for that. We have all been given different talents. These guys teaching here have the spiritual gifts of Knowledge and probably wisdom as well.
You will have other spiritual gifts. Hone in on those gifts. Ask for the gift of knowledge as well. The more you nurture it the more it will grow. The fact you are here means you are a student of Christ! That is great! No reason to feel less-than or beat yourself up.
I'm proud of you for being here. So is God. He loves you! He loves the gifts that you bring to His kingdom, just as these teachers bring theirs.

What I saw while reading and following along in the CFM book is that Enos went through the Endowment path. Enos 1:11 is his experience with prayer. This experience is not his first but likely after several smaller growing experiences with prayer. What I wrote was, “Enos is moving/has moved along the covenant path and is using/becoming the powers of the last token/gift of the Endowment ceremony.
What was truly exciting was reading Enos 1:15 which confirms my thoughts and his progression.

Love the cave, Tyler and Taylor! And the map. I've been promoting your videos and Scripture Plus since I discovered them. Scripture Plus slows down my reading of the BOM, but I am gaining many more insights than in all my past years of reading the book. Thank you for all you do to make the scriptures come to life for me and your other followers.

I have pondered over the years: what exactly was Enos doing/saying all day and into the night?
It is of note that his wrestle was not WITH God but BEFORE God. I suspect his wrestle was within himself - that he was going through a process of wrestling with his own natural (carnal/mortal) desires and habits - the natural man
I looked for other similar experiences in the Book of Mormon and these may shed some light on what was going on..
There is nothing to suggest he was guilty of any grievous sin, so perhaps he was like the people of King Benjamin, who were 'a diligent people in keeping the commandments of the Lord' (Mosi 1:11) yet came to 'view themselves in their own carnal state, less than the dust of the earth' and cried out for mercy and forgiveness (Mosi 4:1:2) recognising and admitting that they needed saving grace. He needed to come to see himself as he really is, a weak man.
Like Amulek, Enos perhaps came to see and admit that which he deep down knew he had to change, but did not want to admit (Alma 10:6). The only hint of what Amulek did that he considered 'wicked' was perhaps his focus in life was on riches (Alma 10:4). Similarly perhaps Enos (like many of us) saw that he had not been loyal to God but had gone after other things.
Enos says he cried out in mighty prayer and SUPPLICATION. This brings to mind Amulek's admonition to the Zoramites to 'humble themselves to the dust' (ALma 34:38) and King Laman, who prostrated himself to the earth - denoting coming to a state of completely submitting to the will of God. King Laman came to the point where he was willing to give up everything for this.
Was Enos's wrestle fundamentally about gradually seeing/admitting and accepting what he needed to change and give up, resolving firmly to do so, and admitting to himself that he couldn't do it on his own, that he was weak and could only conquer with the help of Christ? This could have been a gradual step by step revelatory experience, until like king Laman he was able to be totally willing to give up all things, and throw himself on the mercy of God.
What do you think? Is this a process we all need to go through to 'yield ourselves to God'?

Great thinking. I love these thoughts! An additional insight is that in Hebrew, the word "before" means "at the face of" or "face to face" or "in front of". Learn more at: www.blueletterbible.org/lang/lexicon/lexicon.cfm?Strongs=H6440&t=KJV

Thank you for this lesson. So many wonderful insights. When you talked about the language of Enos' father, and how he taught him in Egyptian writing, I also thought that he taught him in the language of the Spirit. How do you recognize not only when the Spirit speaks, but how, and how can you hear Him? I think Jacob taught Enos what he taught his people when Sherem was around. He taught the doctrine of Christ. If we exercise faith, repent, make and keep covenants, and seek the Spirit in our lives, then we will become more and more pure. As we become ever purer, we will more easily recognize the "language of the Spirit" and be enabled to hear Him.

We sold our property x 3 with agents but none finalised yeat the three homes we signed contracts on to buy when our home sold-all got cash buyers before that happened. The places we signed contracts on were near the Stake Centre but when this happened I told my husband that I thought we were meant to move back to our property where our house had burnt down in a bushfire. We did and then after awhile a unit was made in the area and this is where I was born and most of my siblings live and my elderly parents-all not yet in the Church. The Lord has His reasons and all will work out for good.
