About 6 months ago, I finally decided to allow myself to return to Heavenly Father's church. Mind you, I once had been a faithful member, yet overtime I allowed life situations got in the way. During the faith crisis, not once had I questioned about Heavenly Father's or Jesus Christ's love for me and family; however, I questioned a testimony I once knew; the truthfulness of this gospel being from Heavenly Father. Eventually, I started to listen to various GC talks, including older ones in the morning and at night (sometimes as I'm tryinng to sleep). Unexpectedly my husband and I began feeling a sense of calm and rest within ourselves, especially as we would easily fall asleep. This sense of peace has been a guidance that we have relied upon again and is unexplainable to those who have not experienced it. All I know is, I trust Heavenly Father and know he would not steer me wrong and I am willing to trust Him fully. Thank you for creating these videos and helping us prepare for GC this year. I'm looking forward to be refilling my cups and see it once again run over.. Thank you.

Its is my hope as I listen I will fill my barrel then run get my, buckets and thimbles with spiritual truths and revelations from a Loving Father as his words is delivered to us through his prophets.

I was in a meeting years ago where several General Authorities had spoken. Everyone around me was taking notes, writing as fast as they could write to capture the words of each speaker. Then Elder Bednar stood to conclude the meeting. He asked one question that caused everyone to look up from their writing pad and think. "What have you learned,"he asked, "That has not been said."I suspect my initial reaction was similar to many others. I went blank. I had written down many things that had been said, wishing I could have captured more of the content of their message. But Elder Bednar was asking a very different question. "What have you learned that has NOT been said?". In other words, what has the Spirit spoken to you about what has been said? What impressed you? What do you feel the need to "do"as a result of what you have been taught by the Lord? "
This is a useful way to approach General Conference. It's easy to listen to what people say, go get a snack then listen to the next speaker. Listening to what people talk about is easy and requires very little effort. . Paying very close attention to thoughts or impressions that come to you as you listen to each speaker is far more useful, more personal, and allows the Spirit to teach each of us, one by one" what we most need to learn, better understand and do. We may say, , "I loved that talk, such a great story."Then ask the next question. "What do you feel inspired to do because of what you have heard? If we cannot answer this far more important question, we should listen or read the talk again with the intent of "likening "it to us, right now in our lives. This is how the Lord teaches us through His prophets - if, we are open to the Spirits voice.
This is fabulous! We should not be so focused on documenting general conference (which is already being document) that we miss focusing on documenting what we are learning.
Thanks Taylor for your note. You make a good point. Documenting conference is not our job nor the best use of our time during and after conference.Same principle applies with scripture study. Most of us canooo and awe about the story of Enos in the woods, but what doctrines are being taught, what eternal principles can we learn for our own prayers and what does it take to obtain the voice of God in our minds? Those are the relevant questions each of us should be pondering. The story is a terrific one, but if we fail to liken it to our own struggles with prayer, it is essentially just a really cool story and that's where it ends. No spiritual growth takes place if we remain on the story level. That's where kids start but in my experience, t that's still where many adults are in the church. I have felt as though l'm walking blind at times not knowing what's around the corner but knowing l must not stop but to keep moving forward. It's good to know it's neither stupidity nor blind faith but rather deep faith. l'll settle for that and keep moving even when it seems dark and begin my bucket full of preparation for general conference.

I am not a great scholar of the scriptures but I have to say you have given me the desire to study more and have made my scripture study so much more meaningful. I can honestly say that having seen, heard and/or attended 75 General Conferences, I have never heard a prophet or apostle say anything that wasn’t inspiring OR that I disagreed with. I was disturbed when I first moved to Provo from London, to hear members of the church debating over what had been spoken at that pulpit.
I am no blind follower and have come to understand that daily deep scripture feasting creates a whole armor of God of doctrine, that if prayed over, will be confirmed by the Holy Ghost and anchor us firmly to God, Christ, his gospel and the Church.
35 years ago a president of the London Temple once said to me that “trust is higher than love.” I know this to be a true statement because I remember it as though it was yesterday and the situation it was spoken in. Trusting is hard for those who have not known love, but it is the key to a binding relationship with our Father in Heaven.
I would point everyone to Elder Holland’s talk from years ago about the condition of our hearts and
I would like to add to your book list the books “Believing Christ” by Robinson and “To Him That Believeth” by Frederick Babbel.
God bless all that this conference may be memorable for more than the Coronavirus and the subsequent limitations placed on this historic event.

I am going to really ponder that. That's pretty deep. Any one know of a talk that might approach or expand on that idea?
vendingdudes I will find one for you. In the meantime think of it this way. Loving someone depends on the condition of OUR hearts. TRUSTING someone depends on the condition of theirs.
Therefore trusting God should actually be easy when we understand that He really IS perfect, really does mean every word he says and REALLY is our Father.

I, have been in the CHURCH, for 30 yrs. But, never knew much about details of BOM- college helped;but, this is. AWESOME.. I, guess I, have not been in the CHURCH long enough to"crab" about changes. I, was CATHOLIC, so, I, k ew how hard it was to change; but, not here... I, am gladvfa m lies spend lesser time in "meetings"& that the focus is more on JESUS,a a d, Conference, instead of busy,busy,busy,busy- like Latter- Day Saints are accused of. Love the thimble,/ bucket altar comparison..Now, I, know HEV. FATH.& JESUS live!!!!!

Just this week I had this aha! Moment that I realized I was hearing General Conference talks in the general sense (scriptures too). While I do try to liken things that are taught, I could take a lesson from Elder Christoferson’s talk relating delving into the scriptures to scuba diving. I have since prayed to know how to get more from Conference this weekend, as I have spent more time preparing in a general sense. Your video answered that prayer. I can’t wait to see how well I have prepared. Thank you!

Were we not given reading assignments by President Nelson that he told us would help to prepare us for this up coming conference? You gave us great advice and it was to help us prepare for conference in general. We've been given instructions from our dear prophet to study to gain wonderful insight that will help us individually to receive truth. I'm so glad that I read as instructed.
