    Great info just got it on order for my koi pond. Melafix works great and I use it for 7 days every spring as preventing any problems with my fish.

      It’s a great filter. We have not had any problems with it since we put it in. Last year we added the 5,000 to our small pond and we couldn’t be happier with the results. And I agree, Melafix is fantastic.

    Beautiful natural looking setup you have good job. I have this filter and have two questions. first one is I see you have your inlet on the left side I have mine on the right do you know if that matters? Also do you have issues where some of the sludge will go back into the pond when you squish those filters up and down? are you supposed to drain some of the water out of the box first? Last thing is do you ever get drops of water from the box drip from the back I don't know if it's from foam disturbance in there or what it's not bad but it drips sometimes out of the back by the inlet of the box itself. Thanks and happy ponding!

      Matthew Szczerba thank you. I placed my inlet on the left as instructed. However, I don’t really think that it matters. I also have a little bit of sludge that goes back into the pond, however, it’s a small amount and the filter picks it up as soon as I turn it back on. No, I don’t get water dripping out of the back. If you’re experiencing that, check to make sure it’s still level. They can settle over time. I used leveling sand and patio blocks when setting mine up. Also try to do a deep clean of filters to make sure nothing is plugged and causing a backup.

      @@majesticgardener5862 thanks you sounds good! Yea I think I'm just playing catch-up with getting my pond on track so will continue to take it all apart and deep clean it till it's caught up. Thanks again!

    I cant hear the audio. Was the Oase filter add to the system at the same time as the clean out or did the pond get that dirty with the Oase?

    • @majesticgardener5862
      @majesticgardener5862  Před 2 lety

      Sorry about the audio. We had that pond for several years and tried multiple types of filtration systems and additives but the pond always looked that dirty. We would deep clean it and within days it looked dirty again. We decided to try the Oase filter which we installed after doing another clean out. And it has remained that clean ever since. We can see the fish and all the way down to the bottom of the pond. That filter is amazing. I can’t say enough good things about it. We hardly ever have to clean the filter. We added the 5,000 to our smaller pond last year with the same results.

    Hey, nice pond. Question, at 1:05 the right side of the screen the lilly pads? Are those 1plant/ pot? Or or several different plants? How do you like the oase biofilter? My cheap chinese POS just broke.. debating whether or not to get the oase

      Thanks. That is one water lily, Wanvisa. It is a great water lily. The flower color varies greatly each time throughout the season. I have a video of that too if you want to know more about them. The Oase Biofilter is the best we have ever used. We are so impressed with it that we just added the 5,000 to our smaller pond last week. We have a large wild life load and this filter is able to keep up with it in a way the canister style never was. We only have to clean it out once every 3 weeks.

      It has been doing amazing. Just like new. We never have had any problems with it. And no. We live in the north. With an average of 93 inches of snow per year. We bring it inside and store it throughout the winter months.

      @@majesticgardener5862 ok, that was why I was asking. I was hoping to not have to dismantle.
      Do you have a pump at the bottom of the pond? Or in a skimmer?

    • @majesticgardener5862
      @majesticgardener5862  Před 4 měsíci

      @PMPerformance You might be able to leave it outside. We just never have. We figured it would last longer if we didn’t. Yes. We have a pump that circulates water through the waterfall to keep the water moving for increased oxygenation. We also use a deicer. We do not have a skimmer.

      @@majesticgardener5862 so do you bottom pump into this and this feeds the waterfall?

    • @majesticgardener5862
      @majesticgardener5862  Před 4 měsíci +1

      @@PMPerformance yes. The pump is near the bottom of the pond. It pumps it up to the filter and out to the waterfall.

    0:35 is that the intake in the upper right hand corner? How far of a run is the intake? I'm assuming it's also 3 inch pipe? Also, put a pre-filter on the intake and it will do wonders for additional clarity and for longevity of your filter.

    • @majesticgardener5862
      @majesticgardener5862  Před 3 lety +1

      At :35 in the upper right hand corner is just a potted water plant. The pump intake is at the base of the waterfall and is about 3 ft up and 3 ft out to the filter. The intake is 11/4” clear tubing. You can view this at 1:18 at the bottom left corner and 1:32 where it attaches to the filter. We have thought about the pre filter on the intake. We might try that this spring. Thanks for the recommendation.

  • @marshavongrimmenstein3069

    I am so frustrated. My pond is both above ground a below ground, no waterfall, but has fountains. The filter needs to be below ground level. Is it possible to use the 5000 model of this filter below ground to operate a fountain?

    • @majesticgardener5862
      @majesticgardener5862  Před 3 lety

      I don’t think it would work. This filter needs to be above ground to function properly. The pump pulls water up to the filtration unit and from there gravity pulls it down forming a waterfall. This unit isn’t designed for fountains. Sorry
