Attrition Orbs, this perk can get either no use or insane value and it all depends on the type of weapon it rolls on. Its functionality is to create orbs of power after hitting consecutively with the weapon which has it as a perk. With traditional weapons this works out to be roughly 2/3 of a full mag but with single shot weapons can vary somewhat. Rockets requiring 2 hits bows requiring 5.
But due to this criteria Attrition orbs is at its absolute best on high rpm weapons which can empty their magazine in the shortest amount of time. The 2 perfect examples being Parabellum and Subjunctive. Both are 900rpm smgs with around 30-35 round mags able to reach the threshold of 2/3 used in under a couple of seconds. This allows for the perk to proc repeatedly with sustained fire into either a single target or even multiple targets. These weapons being strong in their own right is an advantage too. You can use them to mow down enemies while repeatedly generating orbs. These orbs can be used for surges, kickstarts, health regen, ability regen, super regen, the list goes on. More orbs is never a bad thing, critical in fact if you want to run thread of warding for consistent woven mail or echo of starvation for consistent devour.
Keep a look out for this perk and if it drops consider how it will function with that given weapon, if you do land it on any of the smgs though its a keeper for sure!

I was really hoping it would proc a lot more frequently on trace rifles and it would spawn the orb at your location rather than the enemies. Would have loved it for a ceno build

Its only good on weapons that can gain a damage enhancement since attrition orbs takes the place of a damage perk. For example solar weapons this season since you can scorch thanks to the artifact this season. I got a Ros Araggo IV (600rpm void auto rifle) with subsistance / attrition orbs. Its actually reallymgood on gyrfalcon hunter because the orb can proc devour and your weapon surge and you will have 100% upmtime on volatile rounds. I would say this is the next best roll for Ros Arrago next to Onslaught
Theres a few weapons out there with it in column 3 instead and then it can be paired with a damage perk, but these arnt the best archetypes for it. If it rolls in column 3 on an smg in the future it will be amazing

Have to subscribe as my Parabellum with Attrition Orbs + Shoot to Loot has now became a staple of my arsenal. No idea why I didn’t scrap it, but thanks to you, I have a great roll.
parabelum also drops with permabilty so can use as back up on strand and get unravling rounds

On first glance it looks redundant, since we're already generating orbs with any typical build, but the more I think about it, what's better than lots of orbs is even more orbs.
Strong straightforward perks are nice like Onslaught or whatnot but I love perks like Attrition Orbs, gets the brain juices flowing. It's an incredibly versatile perk, it can do whatever you want depending on how you build your Orb interaction. And I think it can get better over time as more Orb interaction is introduced.
on the new sidearm you can generate an orb in 5 shots if you have the mag reducing perk

Welp, I’ll be on the lookout for Wewind Wounds/Attrition Orbs
I did some testing with a parabellum i got and rewind rounds allows it to generate two orbs with one mag although i dont think its worth losing a damage/subclass perk. This perk should have definitely been in the left column to even be considered
It can give you ability energy, free surges, free armor charge, and even perks like devour/restoration/woven mail. I feel like it's really good tbh.
I just deleted my rewind rounds attrition orbs roll of the parabellum...

They could have made it amazing if it was in column 3. Will still be a great option though being kinetic it allows for different special weapons to be used

I find Vouchsafe to be the best Attrition Orbs weapon.
Scouts are spent almost entirely safely plinking away at hard targets.
Attrition Orbs feels slow when you're burning ammo/time waiting for it to proc. On a Scout you're just playing normally and orbs are just THERE when you're done.
Pair it with Rapid Hit and off you go.
Stats for all attrition orbs is the parabellem I have the sword sounds fun tho
The lethopobia with attrition orbs is actually fine for gm content where you're plinking away and not getting a million kills per minute, unlike in lower tier stuff.
I prefer AO on the Undying Pulse as a 3rd collumn pick.

Got heal clip and frenzy on it and btw dps testing it basically the best arcatype in pve and forgiving and fast base relod speed and stability arcatype there wasss just no strong smgs for pve in this arcatype now there is

@@DuqkD2 frenzy kind of fixes the problem of utility perks not working on primaries. Perks like Unrelenting STL and now this all get a lot more value when one perk handles the reload and the damage

It needs to be a third-column perk, not a fourth-column.
Bungie keeps doing this with new, non-damage perks and it’s starting to piss me off. I don’t wanna sacrifice more damage for minor Orb creation.
I wish there was a special weapon that was good with attrition orbs. Would make double special (with special ammo finisher) so braindead easy to run
The rocket sidearm is actually nice with it. Lean in on as much blast radius as you can. Normally you get about 2 orbs a mag. If you hit multiple targets each shot Ive managed to consistently get 3 per mag.

if crits reduced the amount of hits needed id def use it, rn it doesnt feel right to use it, 100% of a 900 smg mag should def give 2 orbs, maybe a bit op in pvp but def not that easy to get or use there

So I'm curious about the new nightfall waveframe that can roll with attrition orbs. Does that mean every shot will generate an orb?
Possibly, I bet it will be somewhere between every 2-5 shots if its 2 its a great option. If its every single shot then it will be the go to
Sadly its not great. The sustained damage doesnt seem to count the wave payload but instead only the initial explosion before the wave.
Too akward to use on the wave frame gl to consider a viable option imo

Unless picking up an orb gives you a damage boost it's not necessarily that good. Just run a siphon mod
definitely a good utility weapon i run it with my wardens law lucky pants

Dude when you relaise how useful the sword and atrtion orbs are you will realise its way more op. Basically in a gm with stronghold this is one of the best builds to use its AMA\ZING

it depends on how much you need the orb. I have been using it since day 2 of the season once i realised that this perk on a sword allows me to DPS bosses while maintaining woven nail and Banner of war. the banner time heals and get extended cus fireteam members usually are still killing adds. if the boss does a lot of damage and i do not have woven nail yet then ill just start with a heavy attack and quickly pick up orb and only attack with the light attack, This works very well on this season caster frame sword because of the perk relentless strikes. so even tho it consumes a lot of ammo it allows for a style of play that has not been used in high difficulty games. I tried the same with glaives this season but as they can not spawn orbs with melee kills i am now waiting for a glaive with attrition orbs. but it is likely the melee will not count towards hits but i wont know until i get one @@DuqkD2
spam attack the boss with heavy attack you drop 1 orb and then continue with light attacks in about 4 seconds you get another orb that also can heal you if you have the leg mod on, when that same orb is picked up woven nail refreshes, and as you continue to light spam attack more orbs drop more woven nail refreshes and more health is gained allowing you to hack away at the boss till either you run out of ammo or the boss dies. It's actually quite like an attrition of war from what finishes first your weapon ammo or the boss health @@DuqkD2

Facts, i think they made the perk to “compensate” for the cooldowns we now have for our armor mods that spawn orbs but it aint worth it
The sad part is when you use the new side with this person, you can spawn six orbs. If you combine it with a fragment from sub-classes and the combination of mods, you can even Spanton orbs in total, which is done right.
The ability to have a gun that gives you more orbs than any “orb generation” build is insane. Weapon surges for the weapons will help more than any perk you could think of on weapons with attrition orbs
