My cat started screaming at me when you opened the box and hissed at the screen when your kitty showed up, I guess saying that Kibby was jealous was an understatement
The fold up stove was standard issue in the British Army in the 1970’s and 1980’s. We used to call them Hexi Burners, the fumes from the Hexamine was highly toxic and could not be used in enclosed spaces such as the bottom of a trench. I have fond memories of using them on exercises 😀
I love Docs reviews. He is informative and takes the time to look up specs. I also feel pretty much the same way he does about knives and gear. SALUTE DOC
Been watching your channel for a week now and today I subscribed thanks for taking the time to show and educate us on these boxes/product. Look forward to my first BattleBox...
Hey Doc, So, I was actually going to wright this comment anyway BUT THEN YOU ASKED FOR OUR OPINIONS! :-D So here is what I was going to ask. Could perchance you switch to Survival Box Alpha instead of survival box gear only. I ask this for two reasons. First, most of the box's you review are very very expensive including this one. If I am being truthful more expensive than I(and I expect many others) can afford, but the Alpha box is a bit more affordable and it would be interesting to see a box that is more in my price range. Second, With survival box each, "level," is actually a substantially different box instead of just additions onto the basic. The Gear only being a selection of survival and tactical.... well toys(very cool and useful toys but still toys) and the Beta box being selections of food seed and(occasionally) storage items and Alpha box being a mix of the two, some gear and some survival pantry items. Where as normally, your viewers get the most information from your videos by you purchasing the most expensive box option, in this case we would actually be better informed about the companies product if you were to get the Alpha box instead of the Gear only, additionally you would save money and maybe even be able to use the spare to branch out and buy an additional mid range box(possibly something like a Cairn Box if you wanted to try a slightly different type of video). Just my thoughts :-)
You're welcome! :-D one more thing, I know I mentioned Cairn Box, but maybe since you are a nerd you could go through some of the Nerd boxes? They won't be as good, but it would be fun to see you tare them apart for two or three months each until you find a good one, plus you could show off your nerd side, and possibly get some new viewers form the starships and video game set. :-) just a thought. I can't wait to see what you come up with............... though it does occure to me that you will save about $40.00 a month by going to alpha and that a loot crate causts about $35.00..... :0p
Not gonna lie bud, cant wait for ur next battle box vid. You and dropforgesurvival are responsible for why im going to be subscribing to the pro plus boxes as soon as layoff is over. Super jealous of all the wicked knife of the months you guys unbox lol
Dude, it's not just a box, it's a box full of fluffy shit. Not to mention, you are trying to do something with the box. Of course the cat wants to sit there. That's what cats do.
Thanks for the time you spend on your videos. They have lots of good information for me to make decisions and purchases. As for Prime Membership you can pay monthly but it is like $10 a month or so not exactly sure on the price. Keep up the good work. Thanks.
i recently found your channel and you are the man at opening subscription boxes. I accidentally shot myself in the leg with a 38 spl revolver back in July (my leg has recovered to 97% now). if you could hook me up with a shout out that would be pretty damn cool.
On July 14 last year me and two of my friends went camping. At about ten PM we were skulking around in some dense woods, and for some reason i was doing this with a loaded cocked 38 revolver(very stupid i know haha). i lost footing when we started walking down a slope and gripped the gun causing my finger to pull the hair trigger since it was cocked. I had the gun low to my right side when it happened and was slightly crouched so the bullet entered right below my knee on the right side of my calf and exited below my knee on the center of my shin. it put a hole straight through my tibia (shin bone). We put a belt above the afflicted area and i walked back to the car not knowing my bone was broken yet went to the hospital and told them i fell off a raft in shallow water they x-rayed my leg and put 4 stitches in the exit wound(i did not tell them about the entry wound because it wasn't bleeding i figured it would be fine so far so good. Later in the week the hospital called me to do additional screening on my leg. They did an mri and saw the hole in my bone at this point i told them that i had been accidentally shot with a crossbow. Basically because it didn't break the bone fully it just put a hole in it they told me to use crutches and gave me a boot to keep my foot up i also couldn't move my foot due to slight nerve damage for a couple months. but i am fine now six months later. If there is anything that should be taken from this story it is that proper gun safety should all ways be known and practiced. Load Your Brain Before You Load Your Gun.
Immediately after i felt an impact on my leg heard the gun go off then warmness from blood. honestly i think adrenaline blocked out all of the pain at the time because it didn't hurt immediately after. but by the time we got to the hospital about 1.5-2 hours after when i tried to step out of the car the pain was tremendous i could barley hobble and a cop came and gave me a wheel chair. it also hurt during the time it took to heal and still hurts me now but its at a level that i can live with. when I was at the hospital trying to walk and the days after was the worst pain i have experienced so far in life.
With you, I liked the lantern and that's about it. The hex stove I stole my brothers when he joined the army, great item, some dumbass in purchasing didn't think to Check if small round pot fitted, so much better with traditional rectangular mess tins. We're camping for first time in woods this year may just get me a hex stove, I only ever pack mess tins lol. My 6&8 year old will love it
Love the videos love your honest opinions keep up on the good vids thank you for your service BTW lots of love and respect hope to meet you one day can't wait for the next one
That knife is a reproduction of the US stamped knife I was issued in the USAF in 1980. They were made by Camillus. In fact I still own 2 of them. Production date is stamped on the base of the blade. Mine are 1960 and 1980.
I'd be interested in seeing you, with all your experience, taking the money from Survival Boxes and buying like a "DOCP's Gear of the Month" that you would consider to be good, useful, battle-tested gear we should probably have in our preps/go-bags.
I feel like this box has been a disappointment and I feel like its going to be an even bigger disappointment going forward due to how they are changing their subscriptions for new subscriptions. Drop this one and maybe try Barrel and Blade?
It could, but the fuel cube would have to be put on the ground. not a huge deal, but the idea is the stove is made to be use where ever without a fire hazard because the fuel is contained within the frame and doesn't contact any other flammable stuff.
Yes amazon has a couple prime subscription options now I believe they have 1,3, and 6 month options along with the year still, the longer subscription option is the better deal in the long run if you order enough but I like the option to set up prime during the holiday season when I do majority of my online shopping.
Survival boxes have been hit and miss. Honestly I like the middle box out of them all. Some gear, a little water and some heirloom seeds. It’s a nice combo.
Hey Doc, could you put the stove upside down so that the cook set sits on the flat part of the stove upside down of the way you had it so that the pot is above the fuel cubes?
It could, but the fuel cube would have to be put on the ground. not a huge deal, but the idea is the stove is made to be use where ever without a fire hazard because the fuel is contained within the frame and doesn't contact any other flammable stuff.
The UST Solo Cook set is now on Amazon for $13.90 from the seller UST. It's also available from Cutlery USA for $11.98 and free shipping. Most of the UST items can be found in Walmart and Target, as well. I stopped getting the Survival Boxes. I wait until someone, like yourself, does an unboxing and if there are any items I want, I search them out individually. The only one I still get is Alpha Outpost. The reason for that is I need to get to the 6 or 7 months you're required to get or end up paying the balance that would be due on the $5.00 introductory box. By the way, good videos.
Well...that box was a bit of disappointment. Lol. I'm still waiting for a subscription that ends up sending you a box of just bottle openers lol. Now that would be a great reaction video. Appreciate the honest views and all the hard work
The Btech radio that you received in your box is classified by the fcc as a ham radio. It's not frs/gmrs. It will transmit and receive on those frequencies but with out an amateur radio licence it is ileagual to transmit even in a grid down situation unless it directly relates to loss of life or property and no other means of communications. Just to be clear this is a good little radio but just to be careful or get your ham licence. Thanks for the video. Amateur call sign KD9BBN
That is something worth noting! Thanks for sharing it - I didn't know that at all! Sounds like you should be the one putting together the emergency communications video!!!
Hey man. I just commented on another video. I love your vids they help me find new knives and learn what i like since im new to the knive thing. Im very fascinated and my favorite is ballison or butterfly knife but im looking at a lot and jsut ur vids help. I laugh and just sit in aw at your videos. Keep up the good work and let me know how i can enter a giveaway!
Hey, I really appreciate your kind words! We just wrapped up a giveaway, but I am planning another one to try and top the one that just finished. Don't worry, you'll know about it when it happens!
I camp & backpack a lot with that pot & bowl set from ust and like it, it's light and works for the price, had one of those folding stoves in scouts it's a pos
Great video DocP! This box did suck! I have noticed that some of the boxes seem to be packed with cheap ass items that are way over priced. It’s up to you if you drop this box.
Time to move on, I have been getting the bravo box and it has gone way downhill in the past several months, so I'm moving on myself, just gotta figure out what to get instead
First of all hello from mobile al n I have a question what's the best box to get for the money I want to start up my bug out bags and all so which one be better for me battle box or shit hits the fan thank for the help and anyone can answer
got a schf33 from schrade today i think the schf line might have some good potential gonna pick up another one soon because i was pretty impressed with the quality would be cool to see videos with some tests on some of the various models
Just my opinion but wouldn’t that stove flip over and the jagged lip be shoved into ground for stability? Pot sits on top just fine? Just seems like it would work better that way
Not really. Did you notice the pictures on the box and the instructions, the way I showed it is the correct side up. It's made to keep the fuel tablets off the ground to as not to start an accidental fire, but also to keep your cooking container the right distance away from the burning fuel tablet. If you flipped it over your container would be right on top of it.
They ripped you off bro :( the first 2 items were so amazing... but the rest were just wack man. Sorry about that tho. But keep up the great videos bro (i have been a subscriber for a long time and enjoy watching your videos)❤
Doc , Another great box ! I know you dont care for club tac with them charging your card and sending shit but I noticed NO ONE looks like they have filmed a legendary box unopening. I know its a lot of money but would it be worth it ? Maybe others will send some money to cover cost ? Just a thought . I really want to thank you for your great reviews with no bullshit . Its also great to see another dad out there love their kids the way it shows thru the vlogs. Ed from NJ
I wish the cooking pots were in the give away. I’m planning a camping trip and could use some advise on what I should take with me could I gets some tips doc?
Just paused the vid to guess the decision on last item is going in the don’t like it pile. It’s very cheaply made and I highly doubt it will work good for a survival tool. You might be able to make it work for a quick emergency but I doubt it’ll be very satisfactory.
The folding knife is exactly like the one I got issued at Elemdorf AFB Alaska 1979, and still carry to this day. Blade was dull, and it just looked to me like a bad knockoff of a Boy Scout knife, but it's held up for years, and I don't plan to replace it soon.
Half and half... Vinny stove was right way up. The small leg keeps the fire of ground and allows for air flow a couple of small rods say 1/4 inch that could be diagonally store in stove . These rods could go accross top to hold pots. Doc look at that idea
I seem to remember the LuminAid inflatable light as a kickstarter project to supply 3rd world villages with sustainable light sources...I may be wrong though, but pretty sure that it's the same product. The Baofeng radios are cooler than King Cool of Cool Land, although great for listening in on frequencies, in some places it's illegal to actually transmit with them :( (but in a disaster scenario...who cares...right?). Hexi burners are always a useful fallback for cooking, then again can you really beat a couple of retort pouch meals shoved into an FRH baggie for quickness? Give em enough rope...1 more month.
I know this is old but I felt as I was getting ripped off. They started out strong about a yr n half in they went cheap. I gave them 6 more months. In 2yrs they put out 2 maybe 3 blackout boxes n 2 fishing boxes all low end stuff. I don't expect top end but dam it don't sell me poop n call it stake.
Keep the radio in a Faraday cage in case of wars, and solar storms which effect the earths magnetic field and often it is the cause of Natural disasters like earth quakes, tsunami and vulcanic eruptions. Also there Is a very High risk of a world war at the Moment. And if there Is a war they Will use Emps, But Also Electro magnetic field weapons, microwave weapons and keeping emergency Electronics in a Faraday Cage you can protect your emergency Electronics.
If the grid is down, the people who would be able to communicate with you would be other prepared folks who you would want to know for communication, information, and possibly trading purchases.
Quality. Quantity is useless if it’s junk. Basically I can only afford 1 box and want to get something good. Since you get a lot, if you had to go to one, which company would you keep.
@@DocP91B what do you recommend for lots of stuff in the box, i have to start somewhere and my budget is tight, i can deal with cheaper stuff till i can get better, i think any preparedness is better than none at all :D
I would say unsubscribe from this one and maybe give Barrel & Blade a try? Heard good things about that one and I believe it would suit your channel. Keep up the good work on your vids!
i feel this is a loss. You really don't seem to get true value on it, they repeat often and their items are easy picks from amazon or wal-mart. Was wondering of your opinion on apocabox? have you heard of it before? I would like to hear of your opinion with your skill set and experience. We love watching your videos and how you keep it real. Thank You!...ps...like your imperial guards
I kinda like the spork/p-51 thing, though i wouldn't pay 11$ for it, maybe 1$ probably 2$ if it didn't have a bottle opener. It is a bit ridiculous that the cutlery has 2 can openers. I feel like companies have stopped thinking their products through
The radios price is 25.00 and they are good radios. You will need a FCC license to operate on some channels. One more thing, you are using your burner upside down. You are a fun channel.
I'm not. Look at the picture on the box and the instructions. It used the way it is for a number of reasons. I've explained it in some previous comments. Thanks for watching!
Your collecting knifes
Your cat is collecting boxes
My cat started screaming at me when you opened the box and hissed at the screen when your kitty showed up, I guess saying that Kibby was jealous was an understatement

Thanks for the upload and keep the great videos coming. Your info has saved me lots of money by letting me know if something is junk or not.
Wow, that's awesome! Thanks for letting me know!
Been watching your channel for a week now and today I subscribed thanks for taking the time to show and educate us on these boxes/product. Look forward to my first BattleBox...
Thanks, and I hope you like the box. I'm about to try two new ones, so stay tuned!

DFS is amazing and does high quality work.
Dude, it's not just a box, it's a box full of fluffy shit. Not to mention, you are trying to do something with the box. Of course the cat wants to sit there. That's what cats do.
From what I remember we were always taught to dig the teeth of the stove into ground so it doesnt easily tip.
I appreciate your honesty and kept me from wasting money! Thanks...
Btw ur cat is ur co-star!
The light is cool, company was on Shark Tank ... like it ! Great unboxing.
Hey, been looking at ur videos for a while like what ur doing and reviews keep up the good work
Thanks for the time you spend on your videos. They have lots of good information for me to make decisions and purchases. As for Prime Membership you can pay monthly but it is like $10 a month or so not exactly sure on the price. Keep up the good work. Thanks.
Keep up the great vids! I'm not allowed any bladed "weapons" or anything like that so your channel keeps me entertained and hits that knife fix
I wouldn't waste your time on this box for Feb doc, another great review video
i recently found your channel and you are the man at opening subscription boxes.
How did it feel in the moment? Did it start to hurt more as time went on? I'm genuinely curious
Thats crazy. did your leg feel weird since it was broken or was is just pain?
it was a combination of it being broken and mass swelling in my knee area and upper calf.
My 6&8 year old will love it
Thanks for your videos I've been watching them binge watching them actually and it got me really into it I'm going to try to get me some Gear 2
That's awesome!
I LOVE your reaction to these Bo-Bo items.
You gave them a fair shoot time to move on to a different box thanks for the video always informative and entertaining
I know not the greatest, but in a pinch I think this might be useful.
I say try one more month and then make up your mind. Great vid as always...
Love the videos love your honest opinions keep up on the good vids thank you for your service BTW lots of love and respect hope to meet you one day can't wait for the next one
Thanks! Where are you located? Anywhere near the North East?
DocP91B I'm in taylorville illinois about 30 miles from Springfield I love to travel so one of these days I'll head out that way
You let me know if you're in my neck of the woods!
That knife is a reproduction of the US stamped knife I was issued in the USAF in 1980. They were made by Camillus. In fact I still own 2 of them. Production date is stamped on the base of the blade. Mine are 1960 and 1980.

I can hear your cat now "Oh boy, new kitty litter".
I think the cat has got the right idea! Using the subscription boxes a litter pan!
I feel like this box has been a disappointment and I feel like its going to be an even bigger disappointment going forward due to how they are changing their subscriptions for new subscriptions. Drop this one and maybe try Barrel and Blade?
Keep the bag for the "don't like it" items... I loved the Douche Canoe intro😂
With the cook set, could the legs/teeth go towards the ground? By keeping it elevated, the firestarter and added fuel could be packed underneath?
It could, but the fuel cube would have to be put on the ground. not a huge deal, but the idea is the stove is made to be use where ever without a fire hazard because the fuel is contained within the frame and doesn't contact any other flammable stuff.
Yes amazon has a couple prime subscription options now I believe they have 1,3, and 6 month options along with the year still, the longer subscription option is the better deal in the long run if you order enough but I like the option to set up prime during the holiday season when I do majority of my online shopping.
Should do club tac looks great, love your vids keep it up 👍🏼✌🏽
Great video of the Survival Box.
Hey thanks for the shout-out for my mom she really loved it
Always wondering, what is your favourite 5 knives you own? Would make a great video!!
What do you think about the crkt ripple and the Kershaw skyline thinking about getting them
Great vid doc keep it up
I have that same radio. You do need a ham license. But I have my county fire department frequencies in it and I use it as a fire portable radio
Good vid mate. I going to make a servival kit. I have a tone of servival gear already.
I got one of those folding stoves once. It was an ok little camp stove.
Survival boxes have been hit and miss. Honestly I like the middle box out of them all. Some gear, a little water and some heirloom seeds. It’s a nice combo.
Inflatable solar light $49.99??? I just found the same exact luminAID light on Ebay for $9.99, $3.50 shipping. Can you say "RIPOFF"? Betcha can!
I enjoyed watching your video
I stumbled arcoss your video looking for reviews on different subscription boxes
What do you think is best box out there
My favorite is still BattlBox. I feel like they've given the best value for money spent overall.
Kay I'm so confused their website says the gear only box is now 30$?
We can go back to smoke signals..lol ..great video as always thanks..
Did you watch the show Revolution when it was on?
Well...that box was a bit of disappointment. Lol. I'm still waiting for a subscription that ends up sending you a box of just bottle openers lol. Now that would be a great reaction video. Appreciate the honest views and all the hard work

That is something worth noting! Thanks for sharing it - I didn't know that at all! Sounds like you should be the one putting together the emergency communications video!!!
Totally agree I'd the the pots had fitted on the hex cooker and there was an actual knife in the box it wouldn't of been too bad.
Oh man! I totally forgot about the Douchecanoe award!
It's true, you know. Doc is unfailingly polite and always answers your questions.
We could take this so many ways...
Hey man. I just commented on another video. I love your vids they help me find new knives and learn what i like since im new to the knive thing. Im very fascinated and my favorite is ballison or butterfly knife but im looking at a lot and jsut ur vids help. I laugh and just sit in aw at your videos. Hey, I really appreciate your kind words! We just wrapped up a giveaway, but I am planning another one to try and top the one that just finished. Don't worry, you'll know about it when it happens!
Have used both seperate and together. If you know what your doing works great.
I heard another box reviewer say it was prime shipping + whatever amount for the stuff that could not be found on prime.
Maybe, but it's the exact same amount every month. It's a really big coincidence if that's the case.
I camp & backpack a lot with that pot & bowl set from ust and like it, it's light and works for the price, had one of those folding stoves in scouts it's a pos
Isn't the stove what the used to have in 24 hour MREs before they had FRHs?
Great video DocP! This box did suck! I have noticed that some of the boxes seem to be packed with cheap ass items that are way over priced. It’s up to you if you drop this box.
Time to move on, I have been getting the bravo box and it has gone way downhill in the past several months, so I'm moving on myself, just gotta figure out what to get instead
Thank for the review been looking to sub to a subox company, Well I WONT be getting Survival Box. Thkz u just saved me $$$. Liked and Subed.

You give respect to get it I well like and subscribe I like your motto on how you think keep it up 💯
Is UST really that bad? Can you please review their lanterns bro please.
Ed from NJ
You can hook up to a repeater with that radio. I've talked with someone like 80 miles away with baofeng
I wish the cooking pots were in the give away. I’m planning a camping trip and could use some advise on what I should take with me could I gets some tips doc?
+R3D_DEMON Where are you going, when, for how long?
DocP91B I’m going in early April for 4 nights. And at lums pond in Delaware
I get the alpha box from them. I went on their website yesterday and it looks like they are redoing the gear only box making it cheaper l.
I'm not a know it all but if anyone here has any questions about radio communications I'll explain whatever you might want to ask.
i love your videos
Just paused the vid to guess the decision on last item is going in the don’t like it pile. It’s very cheaply made and I highly doubt it will work good for a survival tool. You might be able to make it work for a quick emergency but I doubt it’ll be very satisfactory.
I like the battery power kit
The folding knife is exactly like the one I got issued at Elemdorf AFB Alaska 1979, and still carry to this day. Blade was dull, and it just looked to me like a bad knockoff of a Boy Scout knife, but it's held up for years, and I don't plan to replace it soon.
I have the same blade too it's over 40 years old and still Razor sharp. Also has been through hitler's house.
83, Any Light weight stove recommendations, Budget friendly
I'd say dump survival boxes. I think even Eno over at Dynamic Prepper has dumped them because their boxes started to suck
Prime can be monthly now, it's like 10 bucks a month or something like that
If you hold the call button down it has a panic alarm with flashing lights
I know this is old but I felt as I was getting ripped off. They started out strong about a yr n half in they went cheap. I gave them 6 more months. In 2yrs they put out 2 maybe 3 blackout boxes n 2 fishing boxes all low end stuff. I don't expect top end but dam it don't sell me poop n call it stake.
I use the hand held and program them good little ht.
Sorry you had a rough time with give away , thanks for the opportunity
It Also has FM radio on it
My dad had that knife, now I have it it is a good knife. It is a good knife part of my EDC
What is the best company to get a box from in your opinion?
Are you looking for quality, or lots of stuff in the box?
Quality. Quantity is useless if it’s junk. Basically I can only afford 1 box and want to get something good. Since you get a lot, if you had to go to one, which company would you keep.
@@carydavid9947 I think you should look into the Prep Box by PMP.
DocP91B thank you
@@DocP91B what do you recommend for lots of stuff in the box, i have to start somewhere and my budget is tight, i can deal with cheaper stuff till i can get better, i think any preparedness is better than none at all :D
I say give it one more month. I think the value is still there
Camp Survival Box aproved by Cat. Useful stuff.
I kinda like the spork/p-51 thing, though i wouldn't pay 11$ for it, maybe 1$ probably 2$ if it didn't have a bottle opener. It is a bit ridiculous that the cutlery has 2 can openers.
I feel like companies have stopped thinking their products through
Prime can be done monthly now.
Yes you can do prime monthly cause I do
My mate got me that exact radio for my birthday about 2 years ago and I still have no idea how to use it without the program
The instruction manual is a hard read!
DocP91B he gave me the radio without the box or the manual I'm not sure what his thoughts were there
It says you paid 89.99 a month for the gear only but on the website it states that prices and boxes have changed and its 29.99 plus shipping now.
Nevermind it states for new subs. New Lower price but less quality gear. Seems your grandfathered into the 89.99 box
