I've never heard of an "edc roll" but love the concept. Yeah, I can't see carrying it in your pockets everyday, but throwing in your lunch box for work, a mini bug out kit, a quick tool bag for the boat or 4 wheeler. Just off the top of my head, maybe throw a small "booboo" kit in with some of your daily meds and other things you need on the daily, but don't want to load up your pockets with, toss in in your lunch box and head to work. I like that and think I'll look into one
Hey doc! Just wanted to comment on your latest Battlbox video to say that I really appreciate how honest you are. I don't always agree with your assessment of some of the items usefulness but it really is an individual assessment isn't it. I have watched your reviews for some time and as one military paramedic to another I'd like to thank you for your service.

I've had my lighter bro for about 4 years, it's still goin strong, use it everyday for something or other. It's a pretty quality light use MT.
They have been disappointing for the past 3 months and I suspended my subscription especially after a "supporter" disrespected my complaint. Said I didn't have a right to complain because it was a luxury to buy these boxes. Well I don't make a lot of money and I sacrifice so I can be better prepared.
That is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Of course you have a right to complain. You are spending your money, that you earn on a product. You have EVERY right to complain if you are not 100% satisfied with what you get in return. Especially if it happens to be a "luxury" then more than anything you are paying for satisfaction.

Can’t wait to see what you do to dress up the kukri it will be a good give away item! Pretty much nailed it on the piles except I would move the exacto knife to the meh pile. Only because I don’t use one much in my work. The gentleman’s knives and the role are awesome. I’m going to make a fire kit in my roll and maybe pick up one or two more. The olight I think I will love. I’ll probably find a use for everything. Great vid as always can’t wait for my box to get here those knives looked almost like autos when you opened them just sick fast and smooth.
I have to agree with your placement of the items. I will say, with the exception of the lighterbro, I am using every that came in the box and it’s growing on me. It’s not what I was hoping to see, but it’s still a fairly useful box. I would like to see the crossbones in the giveaway. Loving the Real Steel I got though!
Bic lighter holders need to stop. This box was bah .... The Olight and real steel knife only things that saved it. The values of battle box are going to shit . Amazon had the knife of month for what you pay for that advancement in box. I am sorry I am ranting but last few boxes have not been up to par. Like you said EDC is not key rings, bags , and antiquated bic lighter holders. Doc you do great job and thank you for the work you put in to show us your world

I have one suggestion for stuff like battle box, part selection, what if you just want the knife of the month club knife and nothing else, I'd suggest removing the price off all the rest and going "hey, let's have a knife club" I bet they would make more money off it
This basic box was the best (in my eyes) since the self defense box.
The carbide sharpener is also a great ferro rod striker. Amazing sparks.

So, once you actually read the instructions on how to use the Speed Sharp, is your opinion still at a "Meh"? I was actually happy to get one, cause after several years of using mine to keep my woodsplitting maul and axes sharp, mines starting to wear a bit. It's so much easier than a file or a stone, and it takes out most nicks in the blade if not too bad. Was surprised you didn't like it. It's also great on machetes or large cutting blades.

doc, your opinion on the sharpener changed aftwr more use? i noticed with a lot of the boxes they give different styles of the same thing in the same boxes, like the radiation box had a few types of sterilizers, the medic had a few types of trama markers, the trail one had a few types of trial markers. a lot seem to have multiple tourches or knives or tools the same, in my opinion this box should contain items that you would carry all together not different styles of the same thing
I have a couple of those key rings and yet to have seen them anywhere but online. Should it be in there? Prolly not but i tell ya what. You will not have keys come off of it and it is a good invention. Easy to add and easy to remove. Good for battlebox? Not really. Then again it is an EDC box...

I disagree on the key rings. They aren't "exciting" but I will be using them every day, so I would put them in the like it pile. I don't really like the CRKT Viva, but everything else I'll either use or put in a kit.

I know someone who works as a TSA agent. Shit “disappears” all the time. Usually it’s some underpaid worker snagging shit that’s towards the outer layers of luggage
You can use it for a ferrow rod as a striker that's what most people do with it
The coolest part about the real steel is that it runs on roller bearings

That's the same steel they in most Mora knives, good enough for Mora good enough for most people. Especially if all they are going to use it for is cutting paper and cardboard.

Great video, Doc. I have similar feelings on the box - basic was lame, advanced/pro contained some good value, and the KOTM was good but underwhelming. A good box, but not really all that fun or exciting. Do you feel that Battlbox can recover from the decline in perceived value the subscribers are experiencing from their product? As someone who is new to them, the perceived value seems lower than past boxes. Case in point the basic box not worth being purchased on its own anymore (as was the case with this box), and the sub par KOTMs, as shown this month by the "combo" CRKT pro plus items, which was something new and obviously an attempt to inflate the value of the pro plus in an insulting way. Thoughts?

Some OK stuff I'm more of a minimalist I usually carry two knives a saw and axe with everything else in a pack but some of that stuff looks interesting to check out
Two knives and am axe I made to do certain things if a tool doesn't serve more than two or three uses its extra wieght

This box was better than the last two but still not as good as the battlbox of old. EDC 2.0 was way better. My biggest complaint here, while I like both knives, instead of two what I would call budget knives, couldn’t we have gotten one nicer knife? And here’s an idea for that EDC roll, I just Velcroed it up in my gun safe and it just became another pistol mag holder.

What on earth happened to battlebox?? This month seemed more novelty than anything
Especially compared to last year's EDC box.
i got a nasty note from battle box inc referance my post saying that this box was trash i still feel that way your right the blades and flashlight saved the box but the rest was just checkout counter stuff not what i expected from Battle Box they wonder why people are canceling there subscriptions hopefully they will listen to reviewers like you and return to what they were best at provideing awesome equipment and survival gear
James Roark the issue I have is they send nasty grams when you complain about a box. The DOPP kit was when I cancelled. Been happy I left and I can take $150 and buy most the good stuff off of Amazon.

It's a Boker Magnum folding Kukri. I think I got it on Amazon years ago. You cam probably google search it and find one.

Personally I don’t get how people don’t like a key ring that is easy to use. It fits the theme perfectly of EVERY DAY CARRY considering there are rare occasions that all I have are my phone, wallet, and KEYS. EDC does haven’t to mean knives and guns, it is the things you carry every day and for 99.9999999% of people that will include keys. If you are always carrying them then why not make them easier to get on and off when needed?
On the lighter bro I believe you missed a tool, I believe they also have a micro screwdriver (and technically the bottom is a bottle opener too).

Once upon a time, battlbox "values" hovered between $300-400. Pro Subs paid $50 extra to get the RS, which sells for $60 on bladehq and KOTM members forked over an extra $50 to get a $50 knife. Is it just me or does it seem like BB is giving up? or just greedy?

1 pass is 1 carbide side, 1 burr removal side. That's two strokes per pass as their instructs tell you to use it.
Oh. That makes more sense. You know, I actually just ordered a SharpensBest Sharp'n'Fire. Very similar style, but with some extra bells and whistles. Awesome little sharpener though. Is it still "Meh" or do you like it better after seeing the instructions?
I just don't like it but that is all personal preference. I know a lot of people do. I'm more comfortable with a pocket whetstone and I l don't like taking shortcuts when it comes to my blade. I think that there is real potential to ruin edges for people who pick it up and don't really know how to use it. But then again, you could make that argument about any sharpener.
Very true. I use whetstones for very, VERY polished edges. I like my Worksharp and SharpensBest for the initial sharpening. I use the whetstone for making the edge a razor afterwords

The knives were nice,the CRKT one looks like a filleting knife but obviously the blade is too thick,the "Gentlemans" knife looks bloody good, EDC Roll looks useful,but would become bulky and weighty over quick (I especially like that the hook and loop looks like it could be used to attach it to a backpack). The torch? Well, it's an Olight... *Nuff said* ... Rest of the box looked a bit crap tbh.
Do patreons or is it patreonians, (I guess that would be the existential question of the decade) get this earlier? I’ve used the sharpener and because everyone in the world knows I am the OG when it comes to sharpening knives, it works really well. (I cut a gut from deer at 500 yards because of the sharpener when I was in the field.)

Again, how many knives and flashlights do you need? It's just more over valued stuff you don't really need and you end up paying double its actual value. And that's why I no longer subscribe to their "service".
He reviews them, that's the point of these vids, plus he has stated many times about putting some items he doesn't want or need in giveaway to his supporters.

Basic sux. Don't like the real steel knife with that weird ass flipper. The CRKT knife is cool, but that tool just needs to be flung as far as you can fling it. Basically the Crossbones knife is the only really good thing in this box.
Kinda silly to make an entire box around EDC, most youtubers who make videos similar to your's only carry around: a compact knife, torch wallet, keys and maybe a gun
