Former Cleveland Browns RB coach Stump Mitchell throws Kareem Hunt under the bus in interview

- Stump Mitchell is no longer a member of the Cleveland Browns coaching staff.
Since the parting of ways, Mitchell has gone on a press tour, and threw Kareem Hunt under the bus in a recent interview with Camryn Justice.
Mitchell said Hunt was consistently late to practice and team meetings, and his biggest regret was not being able to get the most out of Hunt.
Is it fair for Mitchell to air out this dirty laundry now, or should he have kept those thoughts to himself? This is especially interesting timing considering all reports indicate Mitchell was let go from his position due to being a media leak.

When Chubb went down, the Browns ran back to Kareem. Karen seemed to run hard every run. Yes Kareem's RPC average was low but he was used mostly as a short yardage back. Numerous times, he delivered on important runs this past season. Nick Chubb loves Hunt like a brother. I never saw his teammates look at him like a bad teammate. Never got that feeling whatsoever. I think this is just Stump being salty over being let go
I think that is just another example of why they moved on from Mitchell. Leaking info to the media and publicly throwing a player under the bus says a lot about his true character. JS.

I think the funniest thing is, that Kareem was the only player to score 2 touchdowns in a losing playoff game. Let that sink in, everybody forgot about that already. 1 rushing, 1 receiving, KH is a beast when it comes to scoring TD's. Play and pay him for what he's good at.

@@Kul9851CC KH is purely a chess piece. You want him there when the time is needed. Inside the 5 yard line he's going to get that TD. Short yardage downs, he's going to get you that 1st down. Anything extra he gets is a bonus. Would I pay him millions of $$$ to do it, of course not. But to pay the guy to be a part of the team at a bargain price, heck yeah. Ok he has a little anger issues and other things. But damn, when he steps onto the field, he's a working machine. Work ethic, he lacks, on field, he's all about winning.

As always, Jay is wrong. Stump may well dislike Hunt, but you can't make it public. Not from a coach.
I watched this interview and didn't see it as throwing under the bus in any way. Stump saw it as a failure for himself as a coach that Kareem hasn't reached his full potential. I took it as a nudge for Kareem to strive to be his best.
But he could've told Stefanski about that and kept it private. Because that could hurt Hunts career moving forward in free agency. Teams might hear that and decide they dont want him. He should've stayed private with that. He brought up hunt at least 3 times when he didn't even have to.

Let’s be real. If not for the Chubb injury, Kareem may have spent the entire season on the sofa. I think Cleveland needs to let this love affair with Kareem fizzle out. He’s past his prime. We can’t look at a second team back as a short yardage specialist. He’s gotta be a guy who can split carries and produce a decent yards per carry average. I love Kareem’s passion and energy on the field. And the local ties always made for a great story. But this backfield needs some youthful legs.

This needs to stop, I saw the interview he had and he never throwed hunt under the bus. He praised hunt and gave some good advice for a RB like him having real potential in being star in this league but hunt a long time ago accepted his roll not stepping on anyone toes and had success but to say Stump throwed him under the bus is a bit much when he wasn't the only one trying, why create that narrative?

Scary to think how much better Flacco could have been of Chubb was playing. The numbers he had without the run game Chubb brings would have opened up the passing game that much more. At least Chubb will be playing when the Browns make a run at the Superbowl next season.

He runs hard and fights for every inch when carrying the ball . When we needed a touchdown down at the goal line he got it in there for us and several first downs on 3rd or 4th n short.. Bring Kareem Back 💯!!! 2024 Kareem Hunt is going to bring it!
The Browns had a Reduced O line No Chubbs , Kareem got 9 td All receiving with 411 yards . 24 TD rushing 39 Receiving Team was Disappointing . I like Stump . It was not his fault .
After Chubb went down, Kareem knew he was going to get his playing time to play the hero. Ford is a different style runner. They needed Kareem’s power running.

I think that Stump Mitchell was frustrated with Kareem Hunt, so he let off some steam. He's not Kareem Hunt's parent. He's not coaching the Browns. He probably didn't want Hunt back on the team. So he wanted let people know that Hunt didn't respond to his coaching like Mitchell wanted Hunt to respond.
Hunt should be called out, and there should be standards for a teammate, we keep lowering the bar of behavior in this country, and ethics and morals. Sad to see a few of these guys not support Stump. Glad they were not my parents. Stump was classy and told the truth.

This team is in more disarray than folks want to believe. You have questions at QB and RB. New OC/ puppet. Cooper is 30. Myles prime is about up. Ward stays in the medical tent. Last season was a grind. Next season I see 7-10 easy.

All Kereem Hunt did was run hard play hurt and I didn't hear complain about it. I still think KH is a gd IF given consistent volume carries and used properly- which Stefanski hasn't.

10 TDs!!!!! Team used him for what they could, and talkd ish behind his back. Its now coming to light cuz stump on camera, but i think the browns been pigeon holed and devalued him by not using him to his strengths, and he still overcame to be one of the best short down backs in the league.
He did well for how we used him. But we used him for what he is now. He has 100 percent lost a step and no longer has the burst, quickness, or ability to be an ever down back. He is a 3rd/goal line back now. That's it. Having said that, you never want to hear a coach point one player out in the media.
