    The 890 Jump had a fair bit of Gasping Weevil Eggs, and I think that's much more reasonable. You still have a chance to score big, but not ridiculously big.

      Yep, 10 SCU's of weevil eggs; seems fair for something to occasionally stumble upon. It's still a good method of making money if you prefer the ship combat loops . Since you;ll be doing a lot of that. And get to maybe engage in PVP too depending on sell conditions.

      That's not reasonable for the grind. It's a high risk and expensive task to even get to erts. Then to say " maybe 1 in 10 will have a mil or 2"...the risk is no longer worth it, the allure of a lottery ticket is gone.
      There's a better way to do it, and this actually shows HOW disconnected they really are.
      They could've done an auec wipe....and made the unicorn odds 1 in 100 or even 250.
      It would at least show an understanding and attempt at balance for the sake of FUN.

    I really don't understand all of these patches they do to adjust the "economy".... there is no economy until we have crafting, player trading, and simulated supply & demand from the AI. The money doesnt mean anything right now. It's just a time sink blocking your ability to test new ships.

    • @theMedicatedCitizen
      @theMedicatedCitizen Před 5 měsíci

      90% of the people aren't "testing" new ships, but playing with new ships. Sadly, most people don't provide any sort of bug feedback to Spectrum, so there is no testing actually going on and no improvement for the game

    • @Caennuck
      @Caennuck Před 5 měsíci

      @@theMedicatedCitizen Fair enough, but that wasn’t really the crux of my point. The reality is that there is no economy. Ships are the only credit sink, and there are no market forces being applied. It’s just the equivalent of EXP gain right now. Gain enough EXP, unlock new ship. Without the some fundamental economic additions, the tweaks they are making at effectively meaningless and cannot possibly provide substantial insight about the eventual reality of the economy in the finished game.

  • @unclesnakes

    At @6:25 you can see that the 890 Jump had 10 scu of Gasping Weevil Eggs. So it's in the loot pool but much more unlikely and at greatly decreased quantity. Don't know if quantanium was in the loot pool before but it seems like a number of the ships had 1scu of that.
    Over all pretty bummed about that change. Was a fun game loop to work both sides of the law.

    • @D0CBEE
      @D0CBEE Před 5 měsíci +8

      It still can be a fun game loop, except now you'll earn about the same as other jobs. That was the point. You shouldnt be able to make 40 million in half an hour that was just silly.

    • @diokhans.3504
      @diokhans.3504 Před 5 měsíci +2

      @@D0CBEE agree the way it worked was totally broken but you can still earn decent 1-2mil from salvage in an hour which is a super low risk task. And comparing to salvage, bounty should be rewarded a bit higher, that's just what my logic dictates me :)
      With the fix in place we can barely make it 50% to the level of reward for salvage, yet have higher expanses due to potential damage, some risk (I guess it will be much higher in the future, when we get decent AI and server fps). Long story short, kinda sucks..

      @unclesnakes Před 5 měsíci

      A little clarification about my feelings on the game loop: My buddy and I never reached ERT missions but we had a lot of fun doing VHRTs which were far less lucrative (mostly widow, slam, neon, altruciatoxin, RMC, and a lucky haul of 10-15 Maze very very rarely).
      The real fun was working together trying to empty cargo as fast as possible so no one could jump us, hopping/scouting over to one of four-ish possible sale locations and then dodging potential pirates while one person ran security and the other ran to the terminal to sell.
      It was a great game loop not just for the payout but for all the different parts of the game that you engaged with to get that payout (ship combat to beat the bounty, ev/cargo/inventory management, smuggling/cargo hauling, pvp ship combat, exploration, fps, even salvage if you wanted to do that too).
      In the videos I’ve seen it doesn’t look like there is much in the way of middle of the road vices in the loot pool, seems to be a bunch of legal goods and then occasionally small amounts of a single vice whose type varies by bounty difficulty. (Note: I haven’t had a chance to try it out for myself yet. So please tell me that I’m wrong cause I’d love for that to be the case)
      With mostly legal goods there’s less reason to go the scrap yards and less pirating opportunity which means less fps/ship pvp opportunity and so on.
      It feels now like it’s better or easier to just do game loop on loop over and over which is, imo, the bummer.
      TLDR: this game loop had you doing lots of other game loops at once with a good incentive to do it. Now there is less incentive and fewer game loops to enjoy.

    In ePTU I found some Quantainium, usually just 1scu. Is there a handy list of commodities values available? I found a couple webpages, but they don't seem very accurate. I was concerned about picking up the Quantainium since I don't know when it becomes too volatile to transport.

    • @lights4bre890
      @lights4bre890 Před 5 měsíci +3

      Only Raw, freshly mined quantanium has the potential to explode and only Prospectors or Moles can even mine it and carry it in that form. After Quantium is refined then it is packaged in the SCU containers and is a cargo box like any other. Quantanium is no longer volatile in refined, cargo box form.

  • @sandwichninja
    @sandwichninja Před 4 měsíci

    The problem isn't the lack of contraband. It's the unrealistically low values of all the basic commodities. In real life even scrap metal is worth a small fortune, but in Star Citizen "realism" is only a factor when they want you to wait for elevators and trams, and to lose your gear when you die. The need to rebalance this.
    That being said, in 3.22.0a I found a 2scu crate of Gasping Weevil Eggs in the undercarriage cargo of a 300i I shot down during an MRT. Not to shabby considering I was in my vulture doing MRTs for easy salvage. lol

    I recently got back into the game after a break since 3.18. I didn't get to experience the hay day of ERT missions, but I've played about 60 hours of ERTs over the past week or so in 3.22.1. On average I'm finding 1-3 SCU of Gasping Weevil Eggs, when I find them. Rarely, I will find 8-10 SCU, maybe once every 20 missions or so. Widow and Slam seem very rare and I have found zero Maze so far. Where you do your missions seems to have a large impact on the cargo you find. Crusader ERTs are the worst by far. So avoid Crusader and scan everything that has a cargo hold (when the scanning actually works).

  • @StormEagle5
    @StormEagle5 Před 5 měsíci +2

  • @sandwichninja
    @sandwichninja Před 5 měsíci +3

    They should re-balance cargo by attributing realistic monetary values to the various commodities. I love how drugs are worth so much but massive shipping containers filled with gold are dirt cheap... Is the UEE finding gold on all the planets they colonize? Because if not the gold from Terra is only going to increase in value. It's like they put zero thought into it.

      I disagree. The big loads involving Weevil were still rare.
      Unless you stuck only to the asteroids in crusader or hurston, there was a chance the ships would blow up from falling or be flipped in such a way that you couldn't access.
      Maybe every fourth or fifth ERT I found enough high value cargo in a recoverable position to get out of my pilot seat for.

      @lights4bre890 folk talk about "emergent gameplay"
      VH/ERT generating largish amounts of loot brought in groups of folk to share the mission. Combat pilots with ships able to get quick soft death kills. Cargo pilots because a couple of Corsairs couldn't carry enough and little else cut the mustard save Ares, with no cargo capacity. Combat pilots or boots on the ground for when you went to sell because it was worth the types who didn't want to do the work hanging about at scrap yards to try a heist, and they needed to group and organise too.
      All that's now down the pan, or massively reduced.

If my friend is online, sometimes we would team up and he takes a turret in my ship and if we get Weevil eggs or something that has to be sold at a scrapyard instead going to a no questions asked kiosk in armistice, id drop him at a mining outpost - he'd switch to a Talon and go scout the scrapyard and clear me to make the jump.
      If my friend Wasnt online, i just try to be as fast as i can, scanning ahead, touching down and getting to the kiosk as fast as possible. But those are Drills because what can happen in the worst case scenario, i lose this M2 full of contraband? 'Oh no...ill never be able to make that 9 million UEC back'.... 'Oh wait, yes i will just grab a few more ERT's.

    I think this new patch was just about fixes (which i'm all for). I think their 3.23 patch might add features but again - this patch was bug fixes and mainly for Siege of Orison.

    I would count Quantanium as precious cargo. And I found an 8scu of it. I've also found 2 scu of Gasping Weevel eggs on a Hammerhead. But that's it.
    However, I did fill up my Corsair cargo with meh cargo from an ERT and got right at 250k on a single ERT mission. And that's after everything crashed into the surface and blew up, even though I dropped everything below the 2k mark on moons.
    But I have to say. We should _never_, _ever_ find Scrap on Bounties. There is no reason for them to be carrying that. They would only be carrying cargo they can make money off of. Scrap isn't even worth the fuel cost.

    • @chriskelvin248
      @chriskelvin248 Před 5 měsíci

      Agreed. I have zero idea what the developer tool looks like for controlling loot drop tables and item type chance to drop. But if 30 minutes was assigned to one guy to adjust some sliders to correct the loot frenzy, scrap wouldn’t be on the list. Bandits might have pirated a Reclaimer for its RCM, so we should expect to see that. Processed food they need. And small amounts of vice they like. Once in a while a pipeline drug shipment you might come across, but honestly I would save those scores for Critical Threat Service Beacons. An Idris scales much better with that kinda reward.

      @@theMedicatedCitizen why? If the game has a list on the ASOP terminal before the patch, it's a trivial thing to have that same list after it. ngl, i feel that the nerf on ert cargo was a bit uncalled for considering the reclaimer 'meta' for making money. which has basically no risk massive rewards vs the combat nature of ert's

    • @fnunez
      @fnunez Před 5 měsíci +2

      The problem is that if you have a reclaimer you get both, since a reclaimer has a massive cargo hold and a very convenient cargo elevator. This makes the reclaimer way OP, and unfortunately the nerf hits everyone. I'm hoping CIG is not happy about the situation either.

      Cargo looting just needs to hit 2-3 million expected profits per hour to be a decent gameplay loop.
      It needs to be significantly better than just spamming down the ERTs (roughly 600-700k per hour) and it needs to compete with the service beacons (1.5-2 Million per hour) beyond that the extra pay is for the hazard of having to go to pvp locations to sell.
      Having seen the 10SCU Weevil in the 890 in the video, if those are somewhat common, 1/10 or more, it´s very much worth it.

    quantanium sells for 27k per SCU, and that was on just about every ship, will you need a C2 to do bounties anymore? no, should someone have some illegal contraband on their ship during a bounty? probably yes.... it should be like ~32SCU of cargo you should get from a group ERT that are 27k+ per SCU to be fair, would be like 1M+ for a full group ERT or 300k for a single ERT

    ERT cargo going from 10mil+ per hour to less than 300k makes me think they just did it to attract new players(players who might have stopped playing the game in the meantime), before they reverse it and hope you'll buy ships with your own money instead.
    Sure, you can get a Reclaimer and earn tens of millions but it's 15mil to buy in game, meaning the players who can afford it already have loads of money so what's the point?
    They need to figure out how to keep it interesting for frequent/experienced players while making the grind less annoying for new players.
    If the game is nowhere near to being released yet and future wipes will remove everything sooner or later, make it more FUN and less of a grind for newbies.

    If I am being forced to grind up the rep, then every single ERT needs to be profitable with a min tier of loot. Not 1 in 5 being worth a mil. It's high risk, there should ALWAYS be a reward that isn't quartz or scrap.
    Noone at cig knows how to set up a loot table.
    That's the issue with bounties as they were. Now instead of that 1 in 10 or 20 being lucrative, making it feel worthwhile, it's not worth doing at all.
    There is no balance. They still haven't fixed ballistics under s5..... They don't care about the players. Cig sucks.

    "Pirating" that ERT cargo was one of the most enjoyably profitable loops in the game. That's really a shame they did that. They must have done it before this patch, as for the last few weeks I've noticed crap cargo, if really any. Real bummer on this. Think of all the work that was involved. Not like it was ez money. You had to do the mission, keep track of the ships, soft death them, tractor beam all the cargo to your ship which ain't all the easy sometimes... maybe do a few more to fill up on some good stuff, then take the real risk of going to some shady place to sell. wtf CIG? Pff!
