- Upgrading with more Horns! The factory single note horn in my Chevy Silverado just wasn't cutting it. So we upgraded to 4 more aftermarket OEM style horns to make the truck sound better and make it louder for other road users :)
I wanted to keep things simple so I grabbed 2 sets of FIAMM aftermarket horns which is the same brand for factory. There are 2 sets in each corner of the bumper and the factory horn was relocated to the center of the vehicle.

It sounds like four silverados are honking at the same time
Haha ya. I like it. It's decently loud when you're beside the truck.
@AnthonyJ350 where did you bought the red horns!? my oem stock horn they sound like clown car too i wanna do the same mod to my silverado...
Great video. Good information without droning on too much, and covered the 12V specifics. Easy install for the common man - not so much.
Thanks for watching!
They all have 2 horns for 99-06 (and 07 classic). For 99-02 it is behind the drivers headlight, and passenger side it is behind the bumper under the blinker but easily accessible. For 03-06 they are a bit more cramped and harder to get to but in the same locations.
Thanks for letting us know!
You stand corrected. I believe all 99'-2007 classic Silverados have two horns with the exception that the base LS pick-ups have one single note horn. But the same applies to the GMT800 SUVS. All of those have two horns in the exact same location.
Sounds good! All my trucks have had two horns, hi and low note. Since yours is like the LS model they may have skimped out on that. I used a relay and signal wire from the factory horn and added the early 90's style buick, cadillac train horns; 6 horns total. I tucked then away nicely, but two are down low facing down. It has been 7 years now driven through the monsoon rains in Phoenix and Albuquerque as well as flooded roads, and they still work. I guess as long as the water flows straight out it does not hurt them.
jewllake Ya I was surprised to see just the one horn. I really want a 90's Ferrari horn setup for my 350Z but they're huge and expensive. I might have to experiment and put 4 Hella horns in.
Why do you need a relay ?
GM put 4 note horns in A lot of older Cadillacs and Buicks. They are in sync with each other, and they kinda sound like a train horn.
That explains why those old GM cars sound so beefy.
Sound awesome
When I was kid my dad had the electrical guy to install this fiam horns on all the vehicles he owned with the years, but I don't remember what can of capacitors or relays he use to increase the volume but was really loud just remember was.like 4 or 5 metal boxes with a bunch of wires connecting each other and that makes the horn really loud, I'm going to try the same way you did yours sounds really melodic. Thanks
Thanks for watching!
very nice setup
The Beige Wonder Thank you!
Sounds better for what it is good job
Gilbert Luna Thanks!
Our 06 suburban had 2 factory horns, one behind the park lights on each side
Thanks for sharing!
All the Gm trucks I've owned from my 1975 Jimmy right on up to my 2009 Tahoe have always had 2 factory horns, a high tone and low tone. I think it's standard
Thanks for sharing! Maybe notoriously one note fails. I've heard a bunch of truck with only 1 note working.
@@AnthonyJ350 I just replaced the horn in my Tahoe, it's a $#!+ job. Gotta remove the headlight assembly and in order to do that you pretty much have to losen all the bolts holding the bumber on and some bolts in the wheel well. I can't even replace a headlight or turn signal bulb without the same procedure. Your horn sounds good man!
@@thewoodsman5261 Thanks! You need to put 4 horns in so if one fails you have more!
@@AnthonyJ350 lol, damn that's a great idea.
@@thewoodsman5261 Didn't you watch the whole video? That's what I did in it. There's 5 operational horns in the truck now.
Hi Anthony, please list the two models you used. I want to upgrade mine like yours. I am not sure what to add. I want LOUD!! PIAA, HELLA or FIAMM, WOLO, or all four brands. You have an excellent set up! No tank to rust, No hoses to fail, No air solenoids to fail, No compressor to go bad. Your set up is definitely cost effective. The most I can see needing to add is a huge relay like in emergency services vehicles. I know I have a 75 AMP & a 150 AMP 12V continuous duty relays that I used on ham radios. I could trigger the relay with the factory OEM relay out wire.
I honestly just picked up the first 2 sets of FIAMM horns I found at Canadian Tire. Not sure the model. They seem generic to he honest.
@@AnthonyJ350 Thank you
@@arlenewolf5260 You're welcome
FIAMM 74100 “El Grande”
This guy must be one hell of a road rager I mean I'm a trucker and I run an air powered train horn in my freightliner classic XL which i only hit when a kid pumps his arm lol!
I just like being thorough when I do work. 🙂
Sounds great........
Thanks for watching.
The horn on my 2002 Tahoe sucks, what you showed here sounds so much better. I use the horn pretty often while I drive to keep idiots for hitting your car.
Ya these FIAMM horns sound pretty decent without spending much money.
Hey buddy I know the video is about the horns which but the way sounds great but I noticed the bull bar and I like it, can u tell me where did u get it from? Thanks
For sure, it's made by GoRhino and I got it at fleetandsafety.com
It's a police version
@@AnthonyJ350 thank you! Appreciate it!
My 03 Silverado came with 2 horns but the pass side is not working. I purchased some FIAMM high and low horns but I just realized my connector for the horn has two wires from it. Do I just combine these two? OR is one wire the ground and one wire the power?
One is ground one is power. You need to test and verify.
@@AnthonyJ350 Thanks! The install went a lot easier than I thought. I usually try to stray away from electrical stuff. I purchased the FIAMM freeway blasters high and low horn to add to my stock oem driver side horn. Green wire was power. Sounds great again! No more of that wimpy horn note.
Plz brother plz help me I have a problem with my car Nissan sunny ex saloon 2004 1.8 that the horn wires got ripped of can u tell me how to fix it.plz reply
You'll probably have to get a new connector and solder wires on to it.
My 2007 classic bow tie has 2 horns, 1 on each side of the truck. Stock.
Id like a Semi Horn though
Thanks for sharing!
I have 2 horns but when I honk it only one works sometimes the 2 why is that why both not working all the time ????
Check the grounds at the horn. Typically the horns are grounded near the horn and the connections tend to corrode.
What’s the model of high and low notes horns? Can you put a link in the description? I only saw “74100” on both packages
That's the part number
Excelente FIAMM linda
Thanks for Watching!
My Tahoe has two horns, one on the driver’s side & one on the passenger side, both located in front of the font tires
Thanks for sharing!
2005 Silverado work truck 2wd only has one horn on driver's side between radiator support and wash fluid bottle.
Mine seemed to. And it is a Work Truck
I also thought GM put ONE horn in my 04 Tahoe, since that is the one I could get to from below behind the front right turn signal housing and that was what I was hearing: One horn.
Turns out there's another one behind the front left turn signal housing, but you can't get to it from below because it is covered by the windshield washer reservoir and it's bracket from below/behind, which in turn is under the battery and and battery deck. You can see it if you take out the left headlight housing and the turn signal housing.

Thanks for sharing this info!
The horns kind of sound off but at least it seems louder which I guess is all you really wanted.
Ya it doesn't suit the truck perfectly, but it was very affordable and it's effective.
I know this is an old video but what are the horns you used called, and how many with the stock horn?
They're FIAMM horns. I installed two pairs. So 4 additional horns on top of stock.
@@AnthonyJ350 thanks!
Listen up Bosch! ☝️
Where did you tie into your Factory Horn Circuit - spliced near the Factory Horn?
Driver's side fender
@@AnthonyJ350 - I used 2 male bullet connectors in the factory connector on the passenger side since that horn was dead. Mounted both horns on the passenger side brace since my battery was on the driver side in front of the fuse panel.
How can you tell for sure if there is only one horn total? Mine is a weak low sound no real high.
You have to research possible horn locations and look
AnthonyJ350 I found it. Other side was aftermarket garbage burnt compressor. Wiring seemed messed up not getting proper current out of it after a hour of knuckle busting . Ended up putting single freeway blaster mono tone horn in. Thanks for the reply.
@@OneStudPuppy Glad to hear you figured it out.
What kind of push bar is that ???
GoRhino
Halla horns have the same effect with just one instead.
Awesome!
Im here because I think my horn sounds weak but I'm realizing one of the two horns may be dead lol
Thanks for watching!
What is the model number of those red fiamm horns
I honestly don't know the model specifically, sorry. I just bought off the shelf ones at Canadian Tire.
What is the black sirkit
Not sure, you'll have to test.
Hi dear how many u fix in ur truck
5
I have an 09 corolla. After looking death in the eyes a few times via bad drivers, I want a horn setup that isn't just MEEEP in D key. I'm thinking either gather 6 horns from various cars(bonus points if in different keys) at the salvage yard and relay them to the battery, or do the same thing just with 5 more corolla horns, which can also easily be found at the salvage yard. I'd like your opinion on this. How stupid of an idea is this? I want the messiest sounding horn
You're doing basically what I did in this video. Just pick whatever horn notes you want.
@@AnthonyJ350 same as you. Only corolla!.. the goal is for 6 different notes though. Or 6 of all the same note. I might make two brackets interchangeable. The thought of a very loud corolla is just about as scary as a very loud mystery compact. Your setup sounds very effective btw
Why do you need a relay?
Help flow more current from the battery to the additional horns.
And helps prevent any short outs...
My 99 Silverado has 2 horns. Driver side is dead, right side sounds like the stock one in this video. I cannot believe your truck had only one horn.
Maybe there is another one on the other side tucked way up and it's dead so I can't see it and can't listen to find where it is lol.
The horn on the driver side of my truck is located higher up behind the clearance light panel. I simply remove the pins of the headlamp unit then unsnap the clearance light unit so I can see it. Barely can reach a hand in with a 10mm wrench to loosen the bolt holding it.
The horn on the passenger side it found by simply looking up from under the truck just behind the right light units. Beats me why they make such a pain in the ass set up.
And now you blocked the airflow to the radiator from below great job guy👏
Lol, what are you talking about? What about the giant grille that allows airflow? My horns are in the bumper.
This isn't a 1997 Camaro that heavily relies on the air dam and air flow from underneath to cool. Look at the air dam GM puts on these trucks. They want less air underneath to improve highway mileage.
Im just saying all that extra stuff you did was unnecessary if it was required it would say so in the instructions that came with the horn. Its way easier installing them the way the manufacturer specifies in the instructions you just made this over complicated for people that dont know how to work on cars and its just overkill😂😂
@@Ivangarcialbc It's not complicated, just adding in a relay. It is however very effective and reliable. That's why people pay me professionally to work on their vehicles.
Sure... i bet you charge extra for all that stuff that doesnt need to be done. Its highly effective out of the box no need for you to add a twist to it. Working on cars is easier than most people think. Its up to yourself to make it complicated. Just like your video shows.
If you know how to drive no problem whit this horn
The horn for other people that don't know how to drive and you can not brake in time or maneuver or they're just not paying attention and you need to get their attention. Give yourself the best chance (legally) to get their attention to avoid an accident.
my 02 has 2 horns
Thanks for sharing!
When u play sond of horn i think sond was 2 pair not a 1 pair
Thanks for the feedback
Doesn't really sound like an improvement to me...
People in person will tell you different. Tone is subject, but how loud it is what matters. You can't expect your computer speakers or phone to replicate the volume and intensity of a horn.
AnthonyJ350 you are right! got to here the horns in person before you speak.
Wow, GM cheaping out and cutting corners, who would have thought?
Ya but at the same token GM makes the best gas V8 and their trucks seem to have the least issues. I don't see too many trucks from 2005 from Dodge or Ford in my area but the GMs from 2000 keep going.
czcams.com/video/30NRW3dhkck/video.html
@@AnthonyJ350 99-06 silverados are definitely one of the top most common trucks i see on the road
I'M SHOCKED!
@@fubartotale3389 Why? They're simple and they put money to where it mattered. That generation of truck was designed to be worked on.
Quick example, look at the headlight removal procedure on a 2005 Silverado vs any new truck.
How to buy in India?
I'm sure there's 12 volt horns there too
@@AnthonyJ350 sir I want to buy horn praise?
@@salmangaming2818 You can get them at the store
Huh??
Yes
Wow, that's obnoxious, goes right along with the push bar, could be great for hearing cattle or Toyota's...
You should change you name to "Karen".
Wait Darren rhymes with Karen. Your behaviour makes sense. Carry on complaining to the internet.
To many lows not enough highs
To each their own.
You put all that shit in the description but no link to the horns? -_-
Yup, I bought the horns in a store. The brand is in the title, you can search for them.
BIG BUSH BAR BUT LAME STREET TIRES.
It's like the smallest push bar you can get. I have General Grabber ATX all terrains on it now. Are we having a dick swinging contest now?
Try to shorten your videos.
It would help your channel.
But my viewers like thoroughness.
The video is only 12 minutes, showing as much as possible helps you do a better job.
You seem very concerned about the horn breaking...why? Who cares if you have to drive around without a horn for a short while until you get home
Because I've driven without it working and when you need to use it to help avoid an accident and it doesn't work things can go bad. Imagine someone backing out of a driveway and doesn't see you, or a kid playing in the street not paying attention.
The horn is a valuable safety device that people take for granted.
To much talk !! To much stuff about nothing. everyone know or can figure it out. Just get to the point. But.its good other than that.
You can just fast forward....
