Car insurance is of 2 types
1. Own damage insurance (covers your own vehicle and you)
2. Third party insurance ( covers only the opposite party and his/her vehicle)
Own damage is optional and 3rd party is mandatory .Comprehensive insurance is combination of above two policies into a singe one meaning comprehensive policy = own damage + third party.
The popular term Bumper to bumper is an add-on in own damage policy which we should buy at an additional cost.
Own damage policies comes with varieties of add-ons which you can select carefully while buying. with out that a simple own damage policy will cover only partially.
names and terms differ from one insurer to another. Bumper to bumper add-on is same as zero depreciation or depreciation reimbursement.
I recently claimed od insurance for my car with zero depreciation. so here are some points to be noted..
1. zero depreciation cover can be used only twice and for first two claims per year only. after that even if you have zero dep. cover it wont applicable on 3rd claim onwards per policy.
2. Even with all the add-ons one should pay the minimum "compulsory deductible" for each claim. rs1000 for upto 1.5cc of engine capacity.
3. You can buy zero dep. cover only if your car is upto 7 years old. older cars can't get this addon cover.
My total bill for repairing right side front,back doors and quarter panels, wheel arch panel with dent removal, re-painting cost aprox 20k. I paid a total of 1000 only. I have od insurance with zero dep. policy premium was around 10.5k for one year. Hope this helps everyone

Hi ji minor dent removal and painting for new car can we goto showroom or outside.Suggest on this.
If it's minor, service locally. For dent it will be okay, check for painting alone. See if they can Match the color and do properly. But yes ji, you can do locally. Enquire the cost alone see If it exceeds 3000, if it's more. Go to service station and claim insurance. Please note - your insurance company will have to be informed - Reporting to be made within 24 hours to 7 days based on insurance company. Hope, you understand what I mean !

I have one doubt .. my car(altroz petrol) exshowroom room price is 785900/-.... But IDV value they kept is 752000/- for new car only depresiation value 34,000/- ... Am I cheated from them.?...
Right from day 1 insurance of the car is depreciated at 5 percent for IDV (Insured Declared Value). You are not cheated. This appears to be the correct value

Hello sir, We sold our old Omni which had 50% NCB on it. We purchased Baleno with new insurance without the NCB benefit of my old vehicle a few months back as the RC name transfer of Omni was delayed.
Recently we claimed the Baleno insurance as we met an accident. My question is after the claim can I transfer NCB benefit from my Omni which I sold to my Baleno's 2nd-year insurance renewal?
Once a claim is done, NCB cannot be availed.
