Very good video! I've owned the Echo unit since it first came out and it is ALL ABOUT THE GROUND CONDITIONS with these units. If the ground is too wet (as it usually ALWAYS is in the spring when you are looking to redefine the beds,) the unit is not enjoyable to use. It clogs continually and usually I have to stop the engine and clear the head out by hand frequently. I have the same clay-type soil in Central Ohio that you are working in and it is the worst case scenario as you state in your video. If the soil is very dry, sun-baked clay, the unit will want to bounce off the hard ground. I agree with everything you said: it created a nice sloped edge and throws the soil into the bed or at least stacks it up next to the trench so you just need to quickly rake it in before mulching. Even with the PITA of clearing out the clogged head it is still much faster than hand digging, although hand digging will yield a much deeper trench, if desired. Also it breaks up the soil somewhat to make it easier to spread in the bed. Hand digging requires either removing the soil or a lot of extra raking to breakup the soil in the bed. These tools are really only for re-defining an existing edge and NOT for creating new trenches in the lawn. If you have a LOT of bed edges to do each year I would invest in a larger bed edging machine but for the average homeowner this will get you by as long as you do not require very deep edges and can use it in not too wet/not too dry soil conditions.

Now The High Reving Of That Stihl Kombi Systems Motor, Sounds Like It Didn’t Look Like It Was Doing It’s Job Because It Was Probably The Driveshafts Motor, And The Attachment Almost Sounded Like The Inside Of That Gear Case Clutch, Drive Shafts, Needed Probably Some More Grease Shaft, Lubricating, It’s Also Always Very Important That When You Guys Are Working With Machines Like Those Is Always Sometimes Perform On-site Maintenance, Or Take Them To Your Local Stihl Or Echo Dealer, And I Love Echo Products Too You Know, And Nice Video Guys 🍻.

Now, I will not buy the Echo due to this review. The Stihl had to be restricted to get down to the performance level of the Echo. (Looks like the 130R means 130 Restricted) I own both Stihl and Echo products and while most of my Echo products are good, my Stihl products are higher performance. I started out using Echo 5 years ago and kept upgrading to the best Echo offers. Then I bought Stihl because it was the only dealership open when the Echo broke in the middle of a job. Wow, what a difference in performance...Echo is a good inexpensive, reliable piece of equipment, but when I want performance, I buy Stihl now because it is more productive and it means less work on me.

Seems pretty bias. I'm an all battery user. Doing research on these for my business. Too bad that upon calling and speaking with Echo, they "don't have" a bed redefiner attachment for their battery system. Which is completely changing this year anyway. Also, these are redefiners, not to be used to create a new edge as in this video. The search continues for someone using the KMA 130 R or KMA 135 R with the bed edge redefiner to use 😑

  • @JohannGambolputty22

Not impressed. I could see using this too to maintain the edge on my bed through the season but I can easily get through 200feet of seasonal/neglected edging with a half moon and a shovel in 30-45 minutes.
