North Fork Championship 2021 Winning Run

- There are few days that get me as fired up as Saturday at the North Fork Championship! Especially after missing it last year the vibes this year were insane. There were so many spectators, so many people we all hadn’t gotten to see in so long, and so many dope paddlers. Win or lose, being at that start ramp with all your friends, cheering on each racer, hoping they have their best run ever, there’s nothing quite like it. I am super fired up to take my 4th NFC win, but in the end it was just so epic to back with so many awesome people on the best Saturday of the year. Spectator or competitor, if you haven’t experienced the North Fork Championship, mark your calendar for next year, because it’s an event you have to experience for yourself!!

Just showed this to my great grand daughter who is wanting to follow in the shoes of her great grandmother, grandmother, and mother and to start in on extreme kayaking. We have had her in a pool learning how to roll, but have not had her out on any class river yet. She was quite impressed with the part where he ferry's from one side of the river to the other to catch the gate. In the 1950's and 60's we on rare occasions had a still camera along, but anything that could have taken a movie was too expensive and too bulky to take along. By the time my granddaughter got into the sport, there were small digital cameras which we could use from shore to record her exploits. Now we can watch my great granddaughter's progress on our cellphones and take short movies with those, and check things out from her perspective using a GoPro attached to her helmet. We can also show her how the professionals do it on CZcams.
She's a big Dane Jackson fan, and really big fan of Neuria Neuman. So much has changed over the years, and it is the best thing there is to see what kayakers are doing these days, and how wonderful the sport has become. Everyone keep up the good work, and have fun out on the river! Do something stout in honour of those of us who wish we could still be out on the rivers with you. Our hearts are with you and with the rivers forever!

They tried those competitions on the Matanuska river near Anchorage, but one of the competitors drown so they canceled all future competitions...
I always find it funny watching the ICF "Extreme" Slalom events and then watching the NFC, which is, in reality, the quintessential definition of an extreme slalom race. I'd love to see more extreme slalom races like the NFC at places like the Fish Ladder on Great Falls, Green Narrows, Gauley, Little White Salmon, Wellerbrucke, et cetera.

Great run! I was there watching it first hand at Rock Drop. You made it look easy. Most of the paddlers struggled with the gates.
Crazy run. Also crazy to see Jeremy Nash got 3rd. He was in middle school when I was in high school and I'm only 24
So stoked to see him up there!

Always a pleasure to watch you work. Watching you navigate the gates makes me wonder if you've ever considered an attempt at an Olympic Gold Metal in Slalom. Seems like one of the few "wins" you don't have now.
I’ve trained Slalom with Dane just last year at Charlotte whitewater park and don’t get me wrong he looked pretty fast but there are quite a few guys who would finish around 5-10 seconds maybe more ahead of him in a race and idk if in the next 4 years he could make up that time because at that top level it takes so long to progress in the sport
